Rumson’s review published on Letterboxd:
So I mentioned in my Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes review that I found a new series I wanted to talk about. Well yesterday at Gamescom a tv series called Secret Level was announced, which is a video game themed anthology series being created by Tim Miller, who was behind Love, Death and Robots.
There will be 15 episodes, each of which will be based on a different game which include...
-Mega Man
-Pac Man
-The Outer Worlds
-God Of War
-Dungeons and Dragons
-Armoured Core
-Sifu
-Warhammer 40k
-Ghost Of Tsushima
And a few more. Im really excited for this as A) the idea is really, really, really cool, B) some of these games awesome and itll be great to see them be adapated (even if it is in a shorter form) and C) it could lead to much bigger adaptations in the future, like say the Armoured Core episode ends up being really highly rated, that could bring interest in adapting it into a movie or show. Which so long as they dont pull a Borderlands or Doom Anihilation could be really cool.
I will note that there are a couple episodes that dont exactly have me excited, like theres episodes about Concord and Crossfire, now I havent played Concord but its my understanding that it apparently isnt very good (based on the closed beta) but I did play Crossfire X and it was a crappy Counter Strike clone with a campaign that was just ass. So those 2 episodes not particularly excited for, plus some episodes that im not familiar with, like ive never even heard of Exodus before and ive never played Unreal Tournament but hey if those episodes are good then maybe ill check out the games.
But on the whole its a great idea made by someone who has experience with a show like this and has some great IPs to use.
And since were here ive gotta ask, does this sound like your thing? if so what episode are you most excited for?
Im excited for the Warhammer 40k one because 40k is awesome and theres theories that it will be made by the dude who made Astartes and is possibly about Captain Titus which if thats the case, we're in for a treat.
