welp today is the day.
as you all know, election day is today. after 6 months of the rallies, presidential debates, incidents, etc. we are now finally on the final day of this sense of worriment. the country (the USA) now finally gets to choose who will be our president. we will finally decide who will get to be our president for the next 4 years. will it either be former wanna be dictator but actually a pathetic convicted felon, rapist, and sexist president donald trump (also his vp pick is genuinely horrible but that's not the focus btw) who is connected with a evil horrifying project known as project 2025 which plans to remove laws of abortion for women, wanting to put immigrants away, not focusing on climate change, insert christian ideology into our everyday lives, and overall basically give anyone that isn't a white straight christian a hard time or do we spend another 4 years with the biden administration and their incompetency to stop not one but TWO wars in gaza and ulkarine and continue to rise our inflation levels to higher degrees.
tbh, i'm so worried. sure, one is obviously a better pick than the other (kamala over trump) but its like comparing logan paul to literal Hitler both are trash, but ultimately one isn't going to take away people's rights and basically make it this weird gatekeeping "strong" country. i'm worried because the race has been close so far. sure kamala from the numerous polls i seen is in a slight lead, but that's really it a slight lead. so far in the electoral college, kamala and trump are essentially tied. the fate of the usa is just so tight that it becomes terrifying. the thing is that i wish i could vote and try to make a difference, but i'm only 16 and just turning 17 in 9 days. i'm not allowed to vote, and all i can really do is say words to hopefully just maybe make the smallest change.
but i feel like it won't matter anyways. i feel like either way both of the presidents we'll get will make us all... erm, doomed. trump and his followers believe that the last election was rigged and will do anything to say that he won. this will possibly start another january 6, 2021 and even worse, possibly a 2nd civil war. however, if trump wins, well, those laws i mentioned and many others he has himself will possibly be installed, and not only will this cause an uproar, but it can possibly cause, as said earlier, a 2nd civil war. now hopefully this won't happen if either candidate wins, but considering the rising tensions between the right and left, i feel like it's just inevitable at this point.
obviously, despite all her problems and overall incompetency, i do want kamala harris to win. i would rather have an incompetent person over an actual wannabe dictator who said, "i want the type of generals hitler had" and wants to stripe every right people have. i want to live a happy life being myself as a trans woman wanting to change her body and dating (and maybe eventually marry) the best girl i've ever met. i want others to be happy for who they are, no matter what race, sexuality, or gender they are. i want our country to still be a place where anyone can be themselves without having to worry about the laws being taken away. and the fact these rights and laws can be taken away if people choose trump is actually terrifying.
