Paint Drying

Gonna be updating this throughout the awards to give my thoughts.

Thank goodness they gave Da’Vine that Oscar she earned it so hard.

War is Over did not deserve the award just like Mole didn’t last year further proving the academy doesn’t know what they’re talking about but at least I liked the short personally.

Let’s go Miyazaki! Did not expect this tbh but I’m very happy for Hayao and the team at Ghibli. Spiderverse probably deserved this one but I’m very happy with this decision.

Original screenplay was TOUGH because all the nominees were great except you know who and while I’m sad May December didn’t win because it’s the only thing it’s nominated for I definitely think Anatomy earned this one.

I don’t have much of an opinion on adapted screenplay because I don’t know the source material but American Fiction does seem to make sense for this one I think. Still incredibly dumb that Barbie was nominated for this category and not original screenplay not that it would’ve won in either category. Also I just wanna add Cord Jefferson’s speech was so great and so important. Indie filmmakers are only gonna become more and more prominent going forward and I hope they start showing up with the big dogs more often.

The Poor Things sweep starts now! Don’t know much about this category but I was hoping for Society or Poor Things and yah I think they made the right choice obviously.

I’m telling you guys this could be the biggest upset ever. Poor Things absolutely earned this one too the productions and sets were incredible in that film. Also Barbie would’ve been a good choice.

Thank you naked John Cena. Poor Things triple threat right there is based. Another tight category but come on of course Poor Things would win again.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: They just aired a stop Jewish hate PSA and I want to remind you all that right now in Israel they are planning an intense air struck on Rafah in the Gaza Strip in Palestine. Keep your eyes on the news right now because I guarantee the government over there wants to use this opportunity to get away with another massive assault. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

Good for Jonathan Glazer. Zone of Interest was a unique one and I haven’t seen all the films nominated for this category but I feel like this win makes sense too. Also thank you Mr Glazer for mentioning Gaza.

Love the stunt work shout out but I have to ask why is casting getting its own category but not stunt work? I think it should have its own category too but whatever The Academy sucks anyway.

There really haven’t been many shockers besides Boy and Heron yet. Robert definitely earned it even though I wouldn’t have personally given it to him.

Hell yah! Let’s go Godzilla team I’m so proud of them and what they accomplished with such a small team and budget. They are so nerdy and adorable with their love for the goofy monster movie guy. Most unprofessional speech I’ve heard in the best way they are just like me for real.

Makes sense for Oppenheimer to win editing. Jennifer Lame and the team really had to lock in to make that movie watchable lol. They definitely helped make the film as incredible as it is.

Don’t have anything to say about the documentary categories because I didn’t watch any of them yet but I’m glad they didn’t give it to the Book one for the short. Bravo to the winner.

Same for the documentary feature but damn props to the people who made 20 Days I’m sure it was a very harrowing experience to make and my heart goes out to all those still affected by Russia’s reign.

Again another pretty obvious win for Oppenheimer. Hoyte went in to really make Cillian’s face memeable.

Finally Wes Anderson’s overdue win! Henry Sugar is amazing it DEFINITELY deserved this win. I actually want to watch it again now lol.

Completely obvious Zone of Interest win. I’m not joking when I say the sound is the most important part of that entire movie. It tells a story just by itself.

Damn Ryan went in there and even Slash pulled up lol. Kind of a great performance at the Oscars that’s impressive.

Another obvious win. Goransson helped make Oppenheimer what it was with his incredible score. Ludwig could be the next biggest composer in film in my opinion.

And another obvious win for Billie. F you Flamin’ Hot. Are we gonna have a perfect night with no big mistakes from the academy???

It had to be him. As much as I loved Paul, Cillian has earned this award. He’s earned it many times over in fact. Love that beautiful man.

I think I would have personally gave this one to Yorgos or Scorsese but Nolan has definitely earned the award on this one. Best directing work from him yet on Oppenheimer for sure.

Damn… I’m conflicted on this one. I think Emma Stone has the best performance of the year by far but I still really wanted Lily Gladstone to win. I feel like they choose right but it wasn’t without an unfortunate loss. Love you Lily! <3

And the Oppenheimer best picture seals this show as one of the most consistently good shows for winner choices in the last couple decades for the Oscar’s. Good for them I guess.

Well… I’m done. Leave it to Dunkaccino to mess up the final announcement lol. There was no buildup at all to that best picture award. Congrats to the winners. I love movies.
