I put this on my Weekly Midnight Hallucinations list but I want to share it here as well. This is a difficult season for me not just for what happened last night but also because of a lot events that have transpired in my life recently. I would greatly appreciate your kind words if you have any to give. Thank you for your understanding. - Switch

Last night, at about 3:30 AM, my grandfather passed away due to cancer. I haven’t lost anyone so close to me in some time. Probably not since my dad. It’s hard for me to express how much he meant to me. In a family where I constantly feel like I have to hide away the person I truly am for the sake of not being ostracized, he always put himself on my level and made me feel included despite the fact that we were so different. He was a major inspiration in my life for his unflinching optimism, determination, loyalty, humbleness, and patriotism. That last trait is especially important to me because it’s a well known fact that I’m a critic of America and it’s politics, culture, and even its military. However, my grandpa served in the army and fought in Vietnam. He proudly fought for what he believed in and would have given his life for it as well. He was highly respected for his service from both his friends and family and the government he served for. He always made me care very deeply for veterans. Even if I disagree with the motivations for war I cannot deny how humbled I am by people who actually fought for such causes. My grandfather was a kind and gentle man who loved his family more then anything. If anyone deserves and has earned their peace then it is him. Just a few months ago I went with him to see The Fablemans. We loved to go see movies at the theater. It was one thing we always bonded over and I’ll always remember those experiences we had and the movies we watched will become only more special to me. I am going to need some time to grieve my loss of him but I know that he is happy now. Happier and filled with more peace then ever.
This is the final song released by James Leyland Kirby under The Caretaker name after his completion of Everywhere at the End of Time which is a whole story in and of itself. It was mysteriously deleted from his channel for unknown reasons but the song has stuck with me either way. It feels like a song of mourning but also acceptance. It’s a good capper to The Caretaker and what it stands for. This song has been a bit of guise for my sadness and I thought I would share it here. Thank you all.
