We often champion films as masterpieces because they maintain their relevancy over time. So a masterwork must be something that adds to it.
One of my least favorite trends of the last 3 or so years in film (which I'm possibly the most guilty of) is viewing films, music or art of any kind through the lens of the Trump era as a first reaction.

Not as technically proficient as 2001, but I think I like it more.
Someday, the children of the new sun will meet the children of the old
God, what a perfect ending to this story. We’re sleeping on a possible masterpiece here. Science fiction doesn’t get much better than this.

Billy Crystal’s direction is admirable, and you can feel his passion bursting through the screen, but the way the story is told mostly in prose rather than poetry, which is needed when you tell a baseball story. The script’s also a little rough and moves too fast.
Aaron Judge is my home run king.

Jason Robards probably gives one of my 20 or so favorite performances of all time in this. He plays Ben Bradlee as the cool, measured statesman of journalism we all know him to be. Love it.
