Early Life[]
Wiz had originally been a human adventurer of the martial type as well as a powerful Arch Wizard known as the Ice Witch, who at the latter part of her career formed a party alongside Brad, Rosary, Karen, and Yukinori. They became famous among the people of the world and feared by the forces of the Devil King, since the party had on multiple occasions battled the Devil King's Generals whom they were actively hunting.[1]
On one occasion, Wiz, Brad, and Rosary chasing rumours of a General entered a high level dungeon near the royal capital, in which they battled for a week to reach the end, where they found a chest containing Vanir. After a brief exchange, Wiz cut the Duke of Hell in two with Light of Saber, yet just as the party began to Teleport out, the Vanir they believed to be dead revealed at the last second that he was alive, forcing them to spend another week fighting through the dungeon to get at him. For the next couple of months, the three of them would travel down to face Vanir, only to have him repeatedly humiliate and taunt the party, such as how he pointed out Wiz's concern over dying unmarried, shapeshifted into Wiz and proposed to Brad, or exploited the technicality of him not being a living creature to thwart Wiz's attempt at Teleporting him into the royal capital's prison. Over time, Brad and Rosary began to lose their motivation while Wiz only grew more angry. Finally, one day Wiz used an expensive magic item purchased from the Crimson Demon Village to trap Vanir within an impenetrable barrier for a month, only to discover that it also shielded him from their attacks, and had to leave with her companions to fight another General.[1]
She along with Brad and Rosary soon went to the aid of Karen and Yukinori who were battling against Beldia, yet the five of them instead ended up cursed by the Dullahan into dying after a month. As the party's members broke up to meaningfully spend what remaining time they had, Wiz armed with a variety of forbidden magic items challenged Vanir to a duel. Using her full magical powers now further boosted by magic items that burned up her life force, Wiz was able to force Vanir into responding with his full abilities. After a long and arduous battle which left Vanir on the brink of losing a life, Wiz who had spent nearly all her life force revealed her goal of earning Vanir's respect through the fight, so that he would agree to forming a contract where she gives up her soul in exchange for him removing Beldia's death curse from her companions. Vanir however did not want her near depleted soul, and instead taught Wiz a forbidden ritual for becoming a Lich. Following her transformation into a King of Undead, Wiz stormed the Devil King's Castle by her own, tearing down the barrier and quickly defeating Hans as well as Sylvia, before beating Beldia into submission and forcing him to remove the curse, much to the witnessing Vanir's amusement.[1]
Once things died down, under the condition the Devil King's Army does not attack noncombatants,[2] Wiz agreed to become one of the Devil King's Generals and help maintain the barrier of the castle as repayment for the damage she caused, though she afterwards stole from the Devil King's treasury to open up a practice shop inside the castle.[3] Her stay at the Devil King's Castle was soon marred by Beldia's constant sexual harassment, which went anywhere from throwing his head at her feet to look up her skirt,[4] to hiding his head underneath the bathroom stool so that he could peek at her bathing.[5]
Wiz subsequently headed off to Axel, where she had first met her adventuring companions, and opened up her magic item shop so that it would serve as a place where they could all meet again.[3] Since the townsfolk knew her as a retired adventurer who ran a shop perpetually in the red and not her identity as a Lich or a Devil King's General, Wiz constantly received requests to help them solve issues especially those concerning Undeads.[4] Being capable of listening to the voices of Ghosts, she was able to discern how the impoverished deceased who were buried at the public cemetery couldn't afford to have a priest guide them to the afterlife, and thus took it upon herself to regularly enact nighttime rituals for guiding the lost souls away, though over time her presence animated nearby corpses into Zombies.[6]
School Days Arc[]
While stocking up her shop, Wiz took a fancy in the magic items crafted by Hyoizaburoo, therefore she made a trip to Megumin's home, though with everybody but Komekko out, she could only leave behind an order list for merchandise before returning to Axel.[7]
Irregular of Axel Arc[]
When the local Adventurer Guild organised a hunting squadron to take down a powerful Demon sighted in the nearby forest, Wiz offered the participating adventurers free potions, despite having to sustain herself with bread crusts and sweetened water as a result. Later that night, she went to the public cemetery to guide the lost souls, but ended up spooking Megumin and Cecily.[8] And on the following evening, her shop was visited by Yunyun who was on a shopping spree for various magic items, so Wiz sold her a vial of potion for strengthening Paralyse spells.[9]
Beginner Adventurer Arc[]

On another nighttime trip to the public cemetery, Wiz was performing her ritual within a magic circle while Zombies again crowded towards her, when Aqua suddenly barged in to wreck the circle, before unleashing a powerful Turn Undead spell to purify all the nearby Ghosts and Zombies. Wiz herself was nearly purified too, until Kazuma appeared with the rest of his party and stopped the Arch Priest. After some explanation to the party, who were there because the Guild thought that a Zombie Maker was raising all the Zombies, Wiz made a deal with them to have Aqua guide the lost souls to the afterlife in her place, so that she won't cause more Zombies to appear, and accordingly returned to running her shop upon daybreak.[6]
Deep Winter Arc[]
When Kazuma, hoping to learn Lich skills, visited her shop with Aqua in tow, Wiz was shocked to hear that Aqua was actually the goddess worshipped by the Axis Order whom she described as lunatics, and nearly got purified by the enraged deity as a result. Forced to serve Aqua tea, the Lich shopkeeper proceeded to demonstrate Drain Touch by draining the magical power of Aqua, only to feel the goddess' holy aura dissolving her from inside out until Kazuma put a stop to it. Becoming too weak to take on the request from a real estate broker regarding a Ghost infestation at an empty mansion that used to belong to a noble, Wiz let Kazuma's party perform it in her stead. She later went to visit the grave of Anna in the mansion's yard following the resolving of the problem and the settling of the party.[4]
At some point during the period, Wiz got an etching of the Axis symbol at her shop door courtesy of Aqua.[10]
On her way back to Axel from an errand elsewhere, Wiz ran into a wounded Powerful Messenger about to attack the city, and so destroyed it with an Explosion, which in the process inadvertently broke its curse on Darkness.[11]
One time when Kazuma's party visited her shop, Luna came asking for Wiz's help against Ghouls that were emerging from a cave near the city, at which Aqua accused Wiz of being the one who created them, before insisting on joining in the quest and followed by her party. Terrified on their journey by Aqua's proposal of purifying her anyways, Wiz ended up saving the panicked goddess by defeating the grotesque Ghouls she was fleeing from, though she then got burned by the grateful Aqua's tears. Subsequent to Wiz cremating the remains of the Goblin that the Ghouls were munching on, the gang advanced into the cave, and were met by Wolfgang whom Wiz identified as the culprit behind the Ghouls. Identifying herself as a Lich after Wolfgang's Hypnotic Gaze had no effect on her, Wiz angrily retorted when the Vampire began disparaging Liches, which he didn't believe her to be until she withstood his Lightning. Following an explanation by Wolfgang about his origins, the Lich and the Vampire began proclaiming their kind as the superior breed of Undead, though just as they prepared to determine who gets to be the "King of Undead" by fighting it out, Aqua who was capable with purifying them both forced the Undeads into a competition adjudicated by her. Wiz through Kazuma's help managed to talk Aqua into making the competition a contest of Drain Touching, yet when she and Wolfgang both used it on Aqua, the goddess instead forced her divine aura into their bodies, resulting with Wiz nearly purified entirely like Wolfgang was, and had to close shop for a week.[12]
During the attack of the Destroyer on Axel, Wiz also answered to the Guild's call for help, and as instructed by Kazuma cast Explosions alongside Megumin to blow the mobile fortress' legs off. She and Kazuma's companions then followed the other adventurers storming the immobilised Destroyer in hopes of seeking a way to stop its self-detonation, where she was present to discover the remains of the Head Researcher and listen to Aqua reciting his diary. Upon finding the coronatite core used for powering the Destroyer, she drained Kazuma's magical powers to recharge her own, before Randomly Teleporting the core away at his instruction, saying that he will take full responsibility for what happens, though afterwards Wiz became so depleted that she had to let Megumin cast the finishing blow on the ancient weapon.[13]
Late Winter Arc[]
With Sena coming to arrest Kazuma for treason because the Destroyer's coronatite core obliterated Alderp's mansion, Wiz made to save him by admitting that it was her who did the Teleporting, only to be shushed by Aqua. Subsequent to the postponement of Kazuma's sentencing, she received a visit from Kazuma and Aqua, the former of whom proposed using her storefront for selling goods that he designed. Agreeing because she was partly responsible for his predicament, Wiz then revealed how Aqua had been obstructing and vandalising her business, though she then asked for Kazuma to forgive the troublemaker.[14]
Upon Yunyun's return to Axel, Wiz frequently received visits from her as the loner hung around the shop waiting for Megumin, and on one such day the Crimson Demons met, the shopkeeper let them use a Friendship Crystal, which was later charged to Yunyun after Megumin smashed it.[15]
Several days following Vanir's demise, (a possible time interval for Kazuma to have put on a wish-granting choker from Wiz's Shop that slowly chokes him to death unless his wish is granted, and forced Wiz to provide lap pillows as well as other debasing things he requested, only to kill him after being enraged by his confession)[16], Wiz was approached by the Archdemon now on his second life. She proceeded to enter into a contract with him, where Vanir would help her business grow big and profitable, much to the respective astonishment and embarrassment of Kazuma and Darkness upon their next visit.[17]
(In the audio drama, it was also during this period when Wiz got tasked with the quest against Ghouls and competed against Wolfgang, though after nearly joining Beldia across the river of the afterlife, she still had to serve Aqua and her party at the shop the following day)[18]
Early Spring Arc[]
Having purchased a huge supply of magical portable toilets from Hyoizaburoo, Wiz proudly presented them to Vanir one morning, believing that the convenient equipment could sell quickly, only to get zapped by his Murder Ray until losing consciousness. She came to at the city's carriage terminal after Kazuma drained power from Darkness for recharging her, and heard of how Vanir had asked Kazuma to take her along with his party on their recuperative trip to Arcanletia. Despite enjoying the initial uneventful part of the trip, Wiz soon had to help when the caravan was attacked by Running Hawkites through slowing the flock down with Bottomless Swamp as the carriage they rode in was leading the monsters towards Kazuma's trap. After the caravan made camp that night, she assisted Aqua with her entertaining party tricks, though several hours later the sleeping Lich was caught in the Turn Undead spell cast by Aqua for purifying attacking Zombies.[19] And when the caravan continued their journey the next day, Aqua flooding the gang's carriage with divinely powered water further weakened Wiz.[20]
Wiz was quickly put to bed once the party checked into their inn at Arcanletia,[21] (where in the anime she dreamt of seeing Beldia calling for her from the other side of the river before Kazuma recharged her again, but still decided to rest at the inn)[22]. She afterwards took a bath in the hot springs shortly prior to Kazuma's party sans Aqua returning, though in the attempt to placate an upset Aqua who wept and hollered when she came back, Wiz got burned by the tears the goddess was shedding.[21]
While Aqua on the following day took Darkness to look for the culprit poisoning the city's hot springs, Wiz who had dreamt of Karen and Yukinori on the other side of the river accompanied Kazuma and Megumin for the daily Explosion outside the city. The Lich was accordingly asked by Kazuma about her past, which she promised to talk of when Aqua is also present, before saying in response to Megumin's question that there wasn't another busty mage capable of casting Explosions in the Devil King's Army as of her stay at the Devil King's Castle. Wiz next noticed somebody familiar on the streets, though she wasn't able to dwell on it because Kazuma abruptly hurried them on their way. And despite her identity as a Lich scaring away the monsters in the forests outside the city, Megumin's Explosion still attracted a Beginner's Bane, which Wiz defeated simply by letting it pounce on her so that the passive abilities of Liches would make it collapse unconscious. The divine aura leaking out from the hollering Aqua after her failed attempt at preaching about the danger facing the city, however, still threatened to purify the Lich, so the following day Wiz remained at the inn to serve as contact with the local Guild.[23]
(In the anime, Wiz was weakened to the brink of death by Aqua's tears on the first night in Arcanletia, and was bedridden until well after breakfast on the next morning, following which she went out to join Kazuma and Megumin's walk around the city before running into Aqua preaching, and upon nightfall had to escape the inn with the others because of a mob of Axis followers coming to lynch Aqua)[22]
On the gang's way up the following day to the main spring situated in the mountains behind the main cathedral, Wiz discovered to her surprise that Darkness was actually the heiress of the Dustiness noble family. She then had to use ice magic for cooling down Aqua's scalded hands when the goddess stuck them into steaming distribution ponds they came across in order to purify the poison contaminating them, before the gang ran into the familiar man from earlier at the source reservoir. Realising that man to be Hans, Wiz happily expressed her greetings, and pointed out his identity as a Deadly Poison Slime capable of shapeshifting into different people upon him acting like he didn't know her, until it hit her that he was the one poisoning the city's hot springs.[2]
Subsequent to being yelled at by Hans for exposing his identity, she became surprised when Kazuma stepped in to challenge the Devil King's General whom she revealed to have a high bounty, then had to chase after the Adventurer upon him fleeing in panic at the revelation. Later forced to follow Aqua who turned back to go fight, Wiz heard that Hans had devoured the old man in charge of the main spring's maintenance. Enraged at him killing a noncombatant and violating the terms of her neutrality, the Ice Witch cast Cursed Crystal Prison to freeze Hans' arm that was used for contaminating the springs before freezing his feet in place, though because he lobbed parts of his body towards the uncontaminated springs, she had to cut the pipeline for containing the contamination while Aqua purified the poison. Upon Hans reverting to his gigantic true form, Wiz under Kazuma's instructions drained his magical power until he lost consciousness, then let Megumin splatter Hans' body into smaller parts all around the area before freezing them solid for Aqua to purify. The powerful purification cast by Aqua, however, not only purified the city's hot springs into pure hot water and got the gang cast out, but also brought Wiz to the edge of death again, something she still didn't recuperate from when arriving by carriage back to Axel a few days later.[2]
(In the anime, the gang headed towards the main spring at night while being pursued by the lynch mob, then following Kazuma's death and Hans being blown up, Wiz froze the Deadly Poison Slime solid, only for a much reduced Hans to break free before attempting to devour her and Darkness until Aqua intervened, which as a result got the Lich bedridden and seeing Beldia calling her again)[24]
The shopkeeper anyhow recuperated well enough some time afterwards to attend the party at the party's mansion that Darkness invited her to for celebrating the defeat of Hans, and during the ensuing girls' pajama party in Megumin's room toasted with the Crusader, before expressing disbelief towards Kazuma's claim over him having a lot of fans at the Guild.[25]
At some point during the period, Aqua told Wiz to dress up as a realistically looking Zombie for the scaring contest of the town festival, only for the other adventurers to mistake her for a real Zombie and goad Aqua into casting Turn Undead on her, something the goddess happily complied with, which forced Wiz to spend the festival fleeing all over.[26]
Having purchased a magic item that sends those who use it to an otherworldly land called Japan for 12 hours but wipes their memories of the trip afterwards, Wiz fearing Vanir's wrath at her spending money on unsellable goods again went to beg Kazuma's party into buying it. Despite Aqua attempting to confiscate it for being a flawed product, Kazuma jumped to buy the magic item upon hearing of its destination[27] (while in the audio drama, Wiz stayed at the party's mansion after they used it until their return)[28].

With storm season approaching, Wiz dressed in a bikini joined the quest against the Great Spirit of the Storm at the lake where it manifested, drawing a lot of male attention in the process. After swimming into the lake for adding to the barrage of magic spells cast at the spirit, which took the form of a bar hostess, Wiz had to swim back to shore alongside the other adventurers because Aqua agitated the Great Spirit of the Storm and made it churn up the waters. Subsequent to Kazuma dragging Aqua back, Wiz under his instructions unleashed an Explosion on the Great Spirit of the Storm as part of the combination attacks to pacify its temper.[29]
Cursed Ring Arc[]
On one day when Vanir was absent, Wiz received a visit from Kazuma and Megumin, asking for an assessment on a ring Kazuma had picked up on the way back from their daily Explosion routine. Inspecting the ring following the usual bickering between Megumin and Yunyun after the latter arrived, she was only able to tell that there was indeed something magic with that ring, though her warning to Kazuma not to put it on went unheeded. The next morning Wiz became surprised when Kazuma's whole party rushed in, citing that not only was the ring stuck onto Kazuma's finger after he put it on, but also caused him to Steal somebody's panties. After hearing Vanir tell the story of that cursed ring's origins as well as it forcing the wearer to steal panties upon every full moon, Wiz was unable to talk him out of charging 30 million eris for removing the ring without chopping Kazuma's finger off. She was later asked by Aqua to join the meeting at Kazuma's mansion, which Yunyun and Chris also attended, for coming up with ways to earn the ring removal fee.[30]
After Kazuma still Stole a panty despite all the girls staying somewhere else for the night, Wiz when treating Kazuma with tea showed him some maid uniforms she had received, which gave Kazuma the idea of opening a maid café for earning the ring removal fee. Wiz accordingly worked at the café dressed up as a maid server, where the opportunity for having the much admired shopkeeper serve them attracted many customers, though circumstances soon forced it to close.[31]
Upon Kazuma visiting the shop following Vanir's return, Wiz found herself suddenly zapped unconscious by the Archdemon. She later became part of Kazuma's team for participating in the Sports Festival held by the Guild that offers a stupendous prize enough to pay the fee, and joined their swimming training at the riverhead lake. On the day of the Sports Festival, Wiz during the race across the grasslands helped stop a jealous Dust from kicking Kazuma, though the subsequent discovery of Brutal Alligator hatchlings in the lake snapping at the competitors' swimsuits ended up getting the festival cancelled.[32]
Wiz a month later persuaded Vanir into giving Kazuma free consultation over his idea of making money through selling books, before agreeing to join Kazuma's scheme of making money through starting a singer idol unit. Following preparations and idol training, Wiz was assigned the role of Yunyun's elder sister in the unit named "Shiny Blue", though it was soon forced to disband due to circumstances. [33]
Shocked when an angry Aqua one morning charged into her shop looking for Vanir, Wiz next heard from Kazuma about something attempting to break into his party's mansion during the previous night. She later received another visit from Yunyun, whom Megumin and her party then came looking for to accompany Kazuma and Chris on a quest to seek stolen antiques in a cave used by thieves as a hideout. Wiz along with Megumin and Darkness afterwards followed Aqua into trailing Kazuma, which resulted in them too falling through a trapdoor into a deeper part of the cave system. Accordingly joining the whole gang as they tried to sneak past the Skull Dragon sleeping by the exit only to have it woken by the ring, Wiz with Yunyun's help managed to hold the Undead monstrosity back, giving the party enough time to drive it off and make their escape.[34]
When Kazuma's party came petitioning Vanir to lower the ring removal fee, Wiz also tried to help them though to no avail. Several days later when the Skull Dragon was seen making its way towards Axel, Wiz also answered the Guild's emergency assembly call for the city's adventurers, before heading back to the shop with Kazuma's party to hear Vanir explain its origins. She was accordingly assigned by Kazuma to cast Explosions alongside Megumin at the approaching Skull Dragon for weakening it, then after it survived Aqua's Sacred Turn Undead added another strike, which finally allowed the mage's soul to gain full control of the Skull Dragon's body. Her identity as a King of Undead helped persuade the mage to talk, though subsequent to the ensuing deal that Kazuma made with the mage by offering up the Stolen panties and the Skull Dragon's purification by Aqua, the consequently enraged Wiz took part in the beating that sent Kazuma to Eris and forced Aqua to Resurrect him again.[35]
Following the series of possible rewards and penalties for Kazuma depending on his performance in the "Panty Judgments", Wiz was visited by an apologetic Kazuma offering to do something for her. She accordingly let him help out for free around the shop, then took him out for purchasing inventory at the marketplace, where she generously bought anything the stall owners recommended at whatever price charged. The next day Wiz received many requests to exorcise ghosts at night, though when she served tea to Kazuma as the shop sat empty as usual, Wiz got criticised by him over how she ran her business. Later accompanying him into town for inquiry about what kinds of products do people need, Wiz helped some mothers look after their children, before hearing about the disturbance in town caused by ghosts during the night. She thus prepared a heavy and expensive load of holy water bought from the Eris Order, which Kazuma later offered to carry, and took him out that night for performing the exorcism requests. Finding out how the ghosts at the Guild that she was tasked to exorcise had already been cleansed by Aqua, Wiz nevertheless spread the holy water free of charge around the premises as well as other places around town for warding away ghosts. She and Kazuma later played with some children ghosts before seeing them off to the afterlife, then went to a church of Eris to Wiz's discomfort, where they ran into a discontented Aqua and agreed to let the ghosts haunting the church be. As they walked by the river on the way back, Wiz pointed out that the ghosts became active because Aqua got excited from good croquette sales earlier on. During the ensuing tussle between Kazuma and Aqua, the latter accidentally splashed the remaining holy water all over Wiz, causing the burning Lich to start tearing off her clothes before Kazuma shoved her into the river. Later on, Wiz may spend all of her rewards from defeating the Skull Dragon for gifting Kazuma with a bracelet that turned out to repel Undead like her and required a fortune to remove, or work with him to make the shop an effective one seemingly run by a married couple.[36]
Magical Stones Arc[]
Wiz one day received a visit from Kazuma's party, who wanted Vanir to assess a shard of magical stone that Aqua had picked up, and saw them excitedly running off after Vanir offered to buy one of the unbroken stones for 10 million eris.[37] She later headed to the Guild for delivering to the party a device commissioned by Vanir for detecting the remaining magical stones, the next of which lay within Keele's Dungeon.[38]
When the party came to the shop sorting through various wares in preparation for their trip to the Temple of Everlasting Summer, Wiz at Vanir's persuading joined them on their search for the magical stones.[39] Subsequent to the discovery of the one hidden in the research facility beneath the ancient ruins, however, Wiz nearly got shaken out of existence by Aqua, who got impatient with the inefficiency of the magic radar at detecting the stones one at a time before demanding to see Vanir.[40] And after the magical stone buried in the snowfield forest being blown out of the ground along with a hot spring, Wiz also went to take a dip.[41]
Wiz also tagged along when the party was given permission to search the Mystery Tower for the next magical stone, where she too was met with all sorts of familiar enemies. Eventually facing the physical illusions of Hans and Beldia on the top floor, during the ensuing battle where Kazuma discovered how one illusion would upon defeat be immediately resurrected by the other, Wiz was directed to freeze Hans at the same time Aqua purified Beldia, a tactic which successfully defeated the illusions, though Beldia as a final act rolled his head to peek up some girls' skirts before being stomped from existence. The tower however began disappearing once Aqua picked up the magical stone powering it, so Wiz accordingly had to Teleport them all to safety.[42]
After all the magical stones were discovered, Wiz was asked by Vanir to accompany him and Kazuma's party to the Island in the Sky in return for letting them use the Magical Giant Vanir Mask to make the initial trip there, then following the terrifying and nauseating journey through the air, logged the entrance to the floating island as a Teleport spot to facilitate future travel. Subsequent to the Devil-Sealing Magical Stones being placed on the altar serving as the island's nexus and the Imitation Dragon getting released just as Vanir had schemed, Wiz helped the party resist its rampage, before freezing it in place to buy everyone the time to escape, only to have it track them all the way to the grasslands outside Axel.[43]
While the Imitation Dragon started rampaging at the gates of Axel, the commotion attracted the gathering of adventurers who accompanied them on their search of the magical stones, with whom Wiz and the gang fought alongside against the monster. In the final stages of the battle, under Kazuma's instructions Wiz unleashed Cursed Crystal Prison to critically wound the Imitation Dragon before the killing blow was made.[44] She consequently joined the other adventurers in celebrating their victory at the Guild.[45]
Black Slab Arc[]
On one day when Vanir was again absent, Wiz received a visit from Kazuma's party, asking for an assessment on a black stone slab as well as a gem that they had picked up on the way back from a quest. She first came to the conclusion of the gem not worth much in concurrence with Darkness' own examination, before discovering fine print on the Black Slab indicating that it could generate clothes if provided with ingredients and magical power. Wiz accordingly provided some faulty sleeping perfume to Aqua, who used it along with the gem as ingredients for generating a set of high-quality sleepwear for young girls. And just before the party went back home, the shopkeeper passed onto Kazuma a cryptic message from Vanir for him to keep the lost property.[46]
The following morning, a mysterious man covering himself in a black robe visited Wiz's Shop, and wordlessly left behind a recipe used for generating a set of clothes called the School Invidia that causes envy, along with instructions to have them delivered to Kazuma's party, who were forced to generate clothing with the said effect for a nobleman who accused them of thieving from him. During the ensuing weeks since Vanir sent the recipe to the party, Wiz found her shop frequently visited by them as they sought to purchase ingredients. However, soon after the School Invidia was generated and delivered, Wiz had the recipe of the Idol Superbia dropped off at her shop, which was needed by Kazuma's party because they were again ordered by the nobleman to generate clothes with special effects.[47]
Wiz's Shop next became the scene of Yunyun, who once again laid in wait for Megumin, discovering in shock how her underdeveloped rival now thought that flat-chested girls are better.[48]
Wiz later received another visit from the man in black robes when he came to drop off the recipe for the Sexy Luxuria, and handed it along with the recipe for the Sexy Formal concocted by Vanir to Kazuma's party upon their next visit, though she nearly got attacked by Aqua until Kazuma stopped her. Unable to give details on that man, Wiz next inspected the Black Slab once more, and found more fine print explaining how the curse falls on the one who expresses the most desire during its usage. Following the generation of Sexy Formal used for breaking the slab's curse on Aqua, she played along with the party's plan of capturing the man in black robes through pretending that they had lost the recipes and laying in ambush at her shop. Unfortunately, Wiz soon had some of her merchandise smashed when Kazuma tussled with the man upon his appearance, before being caught in the Turn Undead unleashed by Aqua when she purified the man who turned out to be a doll possessed by an Undead.[49]
The man in black robes anyhow still dropped off at the shop the recipe for the Berserk Ira newly requested by the nobleman, so Wiz visited the party's mansion in order to deliver it.[50]
After everything was eventually settled with Wiz having tested out enough numbers of various clothes, she ran into a Kazuma who had recently died on a quest because of his unrepentant party members' fault, and brought him to tears upon expressing concern for his wellbeing. Wiz next invited Kazuma to her shop to discuss, where he had his secret desires blurted out by Vanir before they discussed goddesses and demons, followed by Wiz zapped unconscious again by Vanir for purchasing faulty potions. Waking up to find herself carried outside by Kazuma, she expressed repentance at her mistake, and accepted Kazuma's proposal of training her eye for sellable products. She and his party then came to an agreement for generating a custom set of clothes with the Black Slab for selling at a fortune, the recipe of which Vanir came up with after having Kazuma stare at her for a while. Kazuma's party along with Wiz accordingly went on a quest for gathering the ingredients, where unlike his party members she distinguished herself by fighting competently and following his orders. But upon entering a cave where Undead roamed, Wiz nearly got caught in Aqua's reckless casting of Turn Undead before Kazuma led her to a different cavern, during which she tripped over only to be embraced by him, though as she fought against an ensuing Undead attack, Kazuma tripped into her breasts and fainted. Making it back to the city with the needed ingredients in tow, the following day Wiz arrived at the party's mansion where the Black Slab was used to generate a school uniform worn by a gal-game's heroine, which at Kazuma's request she put on to speak a love confession. Wiz was next dragged off by Vanir to parade around the city in the outfit so that her maniac fans would be enticed into buying the lovely set of clothes she wore for a fortune, before treating an apologetic Kazuma a few days later to her pastry.[51]
Mid Spring Arc[]
Having logged Arcanletia as one of her Teleportation locations, Wiz who got warded off by an Undead-repelling item she had purchased transported Kazuma's party there when they wanted to check up on the Crimson Demon Village.[52]
(In the anime, she instead transported them to the trail leading towards the Crimson Demon Village where Orcs roamed. Later on she led Vanir to meet Hyoizaburoo, only to be shocked at seeing the village razed by Sylvia. She proceeded to freeze the tide of poison slime unleashed at Kazuma and his companions by the Growth Chimera, who along with the Beldia and Hans she merged with called her and Vanir out as turncoats. With her magic having no effect because of the Mage-Killer absorbed by Sylvia, Wiz following Kazuma's idea drained all the magical power from the villagers, before transferring them to Megumin and Yunyun so that they could finish Sylvia off)[53]
Cursed Relic Arc[]
After Kazuma and his companions were Level Drained back to rookies and lost their equipment on top of Kazuma being forced to repair an ancient relic belonging to Lundberg or face execution for treason, Wiz offered to provide them assistance through her shop.[54] When Kazuma visited the shop for ways to get past Giant Toads in the underground sewers running beneath the neighbourhood ruins, however, she was busy with cleaning up the mess caused by the inventory she had purchased exploding.[55] Wiz later received another visit from Kazuma when he wanted to buy his party Heat Rings for their trek into the lethally cold snowfield forest, though by that time she had ran out of stock due to the overabundance of Snow Sprites creating high demand for the magic item.[56]
Making her way back to Axel one night following a trip to the royal capital alongside Vanir, during which she again purchased junk, Wiz detected a powerful magical power heading towards to Temple of Everlasting Summer. The next morning, she was dragged to Kazuma's mansion by Vanir, where the party sans Aqua explained to her about Lundberg's treachery, Rav's betrayal and the release of Wallavy. Wiz was accordingly Level Drained by Vanir so she could match the party's level before being shoved into joining them on their hunt for Wallavy, a situation that brought her ire from Aqua upon the goddess' return. As the party later arrived at the baking temple, Wiz got unitarily challenged by Aqua to defeat a Green Lizard Runner, though following subsequent encounters with these reptiles, she found traces of Wallavy's magical power on the monsters around the area.[57]
When the party reached the oasis adjacent to the temple, at Aqua's insistence they all took a break, during which the girls except Wiz splashed around in the water wearing new swimsuits brought by the shopkeeper, while the Lich who couldn't swim in the water filled with Aqua's power was covered by an excuse from Kazuma. Soon afterwards the party located Rav, who was observing an evolved Wallavy regurgitating the monsters it had drained before the Slime attacked the party. Despite beating Wallavy down, the party had to flee when Wallavy regenerated, and Wiz who cast ice magic for slowing Wallavy down discovered in shock that the magical power from the spell also got absorbed too. Several days later, Wiz treated the visiting Kazuma and party to tea at the shop where they discussed the threat of Wallavy's growth, which the authorities were underestimating, before suffering the ire of an Aqua indignant over her missing hagoromo.[58]
After Kazuma's party went searching the Great Tree Labyrinth only to find the way forward blocked by thick branches, Wiz was asked by Aqua for weedkiller that were out of stock, and thus she instead formulated the weedkiller "Insta~Wilt" once they gave her the needed ingredients.[59]
Wiz joined in the defense of Axel when the giant Wallavy attacked it, and at the closing stages of a fierce battle, under Kazuma's instructions she cast a powerful ice magic at Wallavy, freezing it stiff so that it could neither move nor regenerate, which allowed the party to defeat the giant Slime.[60]
At some point during the period, Wiz asked Kazuma to accompany her on an outing for gathering ingredients at the Great Tree Labyrinth, though they didn't find what they needed that day. She later on brought Kazuma out for another trip, yet despite successfully finding the ingredients this time, due to Kazuma stepping onto a Jungle Tiger's tail while they were busy gathering herbs, the pair got chased around and lost their way. Finding themselves having to set up camp just as Vanir before they set out had prophesied they would be doing, Wiz while sleeping hugged onto Kazuma. The next morning Wiz discovered the trail back, though upon return to the shop she was teased for emotions of embarrassment by Vanir, and some time afterwards gave Kazuma the finished product formulated from the ingredients.[61]
Following many adventures and battles alongside Kazuma, Wiz joined him in defending Axel from the attack of a supergiant Wallavy. Helping Yunyun, Arue, and Funifura with bogging Wallavy down in place after battling its final mutation, she assisted with sweeping aside Wallavy's multiple smaller clones so that Kazuma and Aqua could go destroy its core.[62] Several days later, when all the adventurers who had fought in the battle were drinking at the Guild in celebration, Wiz enjoyed the delicious warabi mochi Aqua had cut out from Wallavy.[63]
Late Spring Arc[]
As part of Vanir's campaign to sell the products designed by Kazuma, Wiz having stocked many oil lighters at her shop offered to let Darkness and Megumin take one for free when they visited on the day the goods were pushed onto market. When Aqua began performing tricks at the storefront before the attracted crowds and thus got into conflict with Vanir, the shopkeeper for once acted like one by drawing the spectators into her shop, then for days busied herself with selling off the popular products to the lines of customers,[64] though her attempts at letting Vanir and Aqua reconcile failed.[65]
At some point during the period, Wiz ran into a playboy ghost trying to hit on female passersby, and brushing him off upon Kazuma and Darkness coming along, was accordingly handed a pamphlet advertising the new pub "Monster's Night" by its Werewolf owner.[66]
Early Summer Arc[]
With the shop's business unprecedentedly booming, Wiz was ordered by Vanir to work endlessly without food or sleep, in which she operated the shop by day and produced goods at night. Two weeks into the cycle, however, the shopkeeper's moods turned funny as she began crying or laughing without reason, and was eventually allowed to take a rest. Wiz later helped take care of Aqua's precious "Dragon's" egg when the party went off to fight the Kowloon Hydra, and despite salivating at the tasty morsel she was handed, still took care of it while pouring in some of her own magical power.[67][68]
Exhaustedly continuing to manage the shop, Wiz was finally allowed some rest days before Darkness' wedding with Alderp, during which she purchased an exploding pendent that allows dying adventurers to romantically blow up for those they love, yet this act only made Vanir mad again.[69]
At some point during the period, Wiz created a thoughts-revealing hat for facilitating communications with monsters and animals, which she while dressing lightly because of the weather asked Kazuma to test out, though before the shopkeeper was able to perform experiments with it on some beef cattle, he returned to advise her not to push the magic item out as a product.[70]
Wiz later on went purchasing goods alone, yet this earned her punishment from Vanir after a week passed.[71] Then during the Archdemon's trip to Arcanletia, somebody came telling the shopkeeper about Vanir causing an accident that required reparations to be paid, so the concerned Wiz quickly handed over all of the shop's earnings, only to have the Duke of Hell furiously zap her upon return.[72]
Mid Summer Arc[]
Discovering an enormous fortune in the shop's safe on day, Wiz having been approached by a salesman offering highest-grade manatite at half price used up all the money to buy it. Then abiding by Aqua's request, Wiz brought Vanir to the party's mansion, where she heard about him exploiting Kazuma's need for money to save Darkness from marriage with Alderp into buying out all his intellectual property. Admonishing Vanir for his unscrupulous business deal as well as buying Aqua's accusations about him being the Archdemon who cast a death curse on Ignis, the shopkeeper joined Aqua in holding him down for Darkness to teach him a lesson. When a fight between the Duke of Hell and the Goddess of Water subsequently broke out, the Lich found herself thrust by Vanir into the path of Aqua's Purification Magic, and as a result was nearly blasted into oblivion, following which she was revived by the Archdemon sprinkling sugar water on her.[73] Back at the shop, however, the shopkeeper was once again zapped for purchasing the highest-grade manatite that Vanir said nobody in the Town of Beginners would buy, yet Wiz nevertheless refused her employee's idea of her going travelling for a decade and leaving the shop in his care.[74]
The Lich anyhow bought Vanir's ire once more when she listened to some merchant's fib and purchased some unusable junk that cannot be preserved for long, though when Dust afterwards visited the shop and asked for easy ways to make quick money, the former adventurer expressed furious defiance once the Archdemon taunted her over still being single. She was accordingly consulted by her employee about human women being conscious over their weight, which cumulated in his idea of using the detoxified fruits of Tranquility Girls as ingredients for dietary snacks that will not fatten people. Later zapped again unto unconsciousness, the shuddering Lich was shocked into laying deathly still when a bag emitting a stench similar to unwashed socks was dumped upon her.[75]
Visited by Aqua on some other day, Wiz after apologising to Vanir about her bungles proudly presented to the goddess a Frog Killer. The ageless Lich next became delighted by Aqua suggesting how purchasing cheap land now and waiting for it to appreciate after the defeat of the Devil King can earn her a fortune, and so they went around borrowing huge sums of money even from lenders demanding high interest rates. But Kazuma soon afterwards appeared to explain how there's still the problem of real estate taxes as well as interest during the long wait, thus at his request returned all the money borrowed. The interest she had to pay though still amounted to a substantial loss, earning her another furious zap from Vanir once he found out about the affair.[76] Although Kazuma offered to have Aqua sit inside a basin at the shop while water gets poured over her in order to generate holy water for sale, the heartbroken Wiz found herself unable to dump water over a young girl until her employee did a demonstration of the deed. Anyhow finding later on how profitable the holy water was, she let Aqua go searching for other liquids in the shop to purify, only to have the goddess open a vial of explosive potion, causing serious damages to the shop that wiped out all the gains.[77]
Hearing about a beauty pageant held by the Eris Order on the final day of the Eris Appreciation Festival, Wiz wearing an apron also participated in hopes of winning enough money to pay the month's rent.[78] She later joined in the closing party held by the festival committee.[79]
At some point during the period, the Lich while creating a magic item allowing anybody to use Healing magic was visited by Kazuma and Aqua, the latter of whom hugged onto Wiz's undead body for cooling down from the heat. Next dismayed because Aqua destroyed the magic item upon hearing of its effects, the shopkeeper was anyhow given reparations by the goddess thanks to Kazuma's pressuring. She was accordingly surprised by him asking for housework automatons that outwardly look identical to human girls, so saved by him from the sleeping Aqua on her back who nearly purified the Lich, Wiz went to work on the automatons, but for all her efforts could only create ones that required the magical power of an Explosion to activate.[80]
Because of Kazuma's party recently failing too many quests, Wiz agreed to become one of the lecturers for their retraining at the seaside, which she wore a sexy swimsuit to,[81] so that she will earn enough money for her to afford solid food. Accordingly observing Mitsurugi's lecture about combat skills, she and the other spectators commented about the Sword Master being a sore loser when he refused to accept losing a blow to Kazuma, until Mitsurugi relented and let the Adventurer pass the lecture.[82] Then after Aqua was caught in the explosion of some overloaded magical stones that Megumin threw into the sea, Wiz quickly rushed to rescue the goddess.[83]
Finally reaching her lecture about adventurer attitude, the Lich energetically asked Megumin and Darkness what was the most important thing for adventurers, and after they both answered incorrectly, Wiz tried the cheer up the latter who liked hero stories. She then declared bonds between companions that can overcome individual shortcomings as the correct answer, yet the other girls teasing Darkness made her unable to refute Kazuma's claim of such things being impossible for his party. Next having them fight monsters in the sea for strengthening bonds, the shopkeeper took out a vial from her cleavage for attracting monsters, though the party's ensuing lack of bonding prior to the battle left her speechless.[84]
After a huge Kraken was attracted, Wiz tried to motivate the party by emphasising on their bonds between companions, yet was unable to look at Kazuma when he pointed out the dire straits that their lack of bonds had caused. She then tried to stop Aqua from casting Purification Magic at an approaching ghost ship filled with Undead in fear of herself also getting caught in the crossfire, only to be dismissed until she prostrated to the goddess for mercy. Later when the others declared determination to fight together, the Lich barely had time to warn them about Megumin's Explosion before it spiraled out of control.[84] Miraculously surviving the catastrophe that eradicated the monsters and left her laying immobile, Wiz apologised for her magical item causing all of this, and could only helplessly watch as Megumin got swept out to sea.[85]
When Aqua made another visit to the shop, Wiz while preventing Vanir from throwing away her wares became shocked by him proclaiming interest in a human woman. The shopkeeper thus expressed full support for the Archdemon, though she advised against him using his powers or else the relationship may turn hollow. Although disappointed when Vanir later reported failing to capture the woman's heart by gifting her monster carcasses, the Lich still found it comforting to know that Vanir's love interest has a normal personality.[86]
She heard from Aqua on the following day her idea of investigating more about that human woman, whom Vanir described as busty person who took care of people and allocated them suitable jobs. After showing approval for the traits of that woman except for the first point, the Lich defended her employee as having a good reputation among nearby housewives after Aqua belittled him. Subsequent to the goddess' departure, Vanir accompanied by Yunyun returned to the shop in another failure, making Wiz begin faltering in her belief against the All-Seeing Demon using his powers. Next seeing the Archdemon sign a photobook featuring his "nude" mask, the shopkeeper discussed with Yunyun what the unmasked Vanir may look like, before letting him go use his powers for winning over Luna.[86]
Wiz on the following day went to the Guild where Vanir was filling in for the receptionist, who to the Lich's joy had been drinking with the Archdemon throughout the night before getting carried home. Becoming further excited when Luna showed up, the shopkeeper was subsequently stunned by Archdemon blurting out how he was interested in Luna's exquisite negative emotions emitted out of jealousy towards her married colleagues as well as frustration at problematic adventurers, and joined the rest of the audience in reprimanding him.[86]
The shopkeeper during Vanir's ensuing days of taking a side job at the Guild started selling magical air conditioning units, with the initial business success in the hot summer prompting her to order large quantities of the item that will only be completed by the end of summer, before being reminded by the Archdemon following his return that the units only last for half a year and will not be fit for sale by next year's summer.[86]
When the Receptionist Succubus visited the shop for seeing Vanir, Wiz became pleased by the visitor praising her cuteness, and only after notification from the All-Seeing Demon did she realise that her passive Lich abilities had nullified the Charm cast at her by the Succubus. Next enraged by the Archdemon's taunts over her age, the shopkeeper was accordingly placated by the Receptionist Succubus about her beauty, though after preparing tea Wiz discovered that the Succubus had already left before Aqua came for another visit. Subsequently getting a visit from members of the Yatagarasu soliciting their security services, the impoverished shopkeeper found them to be kind people despite their fearsome appearances, since they gifted her with food upon hearing of how she was starving due to the shop's deficits.[87]
Wiz on the following morning heard from Vanir that the nearby stores all had yatagarasu stickers stuck onto their doorways, and a walk with him around the city saw them discover the same stickers on the storefronts of all the businesses that had contracted the Yatagarasu's services. Next witnessing an eatery getting its operations disrupted by Yatagarasu members who occupied all the seats and took their time deciding what to order, the Lich helped out by excitedly suggesting the Yatagarasu members to order the teriyaki toad set. Somehow getting scolded by Vanir for trying to be helpful as the Yatagarasu left, the starving shopkeeper was nevertheless treated to a free meal by the eatery. Accordingly disappointed at Vanir paying a blind eye to the practically criminal deeds of the Yatagarasu, the Lich upon return to the shop heard from the awaiting Aqua how she had drove away some Yatagarasu members harassing her favourite wine shop, and so discussed her woes about the criminal organisation with the goddess.[87]
On one ensuing night, Wiz saw Vanir heading for a look at the argument between the neighbouring store and a Yatagarasu member over the yatagarasu sticker on the doorway mysteriously disappearing. After trailing him next door, she became surprised at the Duke of Hell amicably promising assistance to the widowed store owner, before the Lich frantically clarified to the old woman about the lack of romantic relationship between her and the Archdemon, who later revealed his lack of interest in the human. Next visited by the frantic Loli Succubus who talked of a raid on the Cafe by the Yatagarasu, Wiz on their way there expressed indignation at Vanir's refusal to help, as well as exasperation over his lecture about demonic creed and goal of his dream dungeon.[87]
But when they reached the Cafe, she witnessed the Succubi despite already having defeated the Yatagarasu, were now faced with the murderous Aqua. Rendered speechless upon hearing the goddess talk of dealing with the Yatagarasu's nuisance by removing their stickers, Wiz was unable to talk her out of annihilating the Succubi, so at Vanir's instruction rushed to bring Kazuma. Subsequent to the goddess' caretaker pacifying the situation, the shopkeeper on the following day let Aqua and the Succubi use the shop for agreeing to a truce. Then proceeding to criticise Vanir's enmity with the goddess later that night, Wiz became delighted to hear the Duke of Hell refer to her by her name as they talked of their shared past, yet the shopkeeper's ensuing confession about wasting the money that Vanir had recently earned got her zapped again.[87]
Accordingly receiving daily visits from Aqua who was curious about how she met Vanir and turned into a Lich, Wiz alongside the Archdemon went on to tell her the story.[1] Then after the goddess fell asleep, the former Ice Witch was overjoyed to receive a visit from Brad and Rosary who also brought their daughter along.[3]
Late Summer Arc[]
Having learnt how she would only purchase junk if shopping around for inventory by herself, the shopkeeper asked Aqua to help her choose the wares. Later scared that some visitors to the shop were debt collectors until she saw them being Dust and Rin, Wiz was zapped by Vanir for purchasing junk because of listening to the useless goddess.[88] Then having misplaced a pair of special replica masks of Vanir's that had the ability of switching the bodies of their wearers, she once more received the same punishment from the Duke of Hell.[89]
