Trivia

• The 1995 home video release uses the 1990 Walt Disney Pictures logo, while the 2000 orange-and-black Walt Disney Pictures logo was used for the 2003 home video release.
• The 2003 Platinum Edition DVD is the final Platinum Edition DVD not to have the Disney Enhanced Home Theater Mix option as the default English option.
• Beginning with the 2011 DVD and Blu-ray releases, the 1990 Walt Disney Pictures logo was replaced by the 2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo (and the Walt Disney Animation Studios logo for the 3D version). Plus, the other jungle noises at the very beginning of the film (as was the case in the 1995 and 2003 releases) have been cut out.
  • In the 2018 4K UHD release, the 2011 variant of the current 2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo was used.
• The 1995 VHS release of The Lion King is the best-selling VHS release of all time, selling over 32 million copies.
• The 1995 VHS was the first Renaissance-era film to be released under the Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection label.
• The 1995 VHS was the last release to feature more than one lilac blue bumper, that being the Coming to Videocassette and Coming Soon to Videocassette logos. After this, all of the future Disney tapes only used the 1992 Feature Presentation bumper.
• This is one of the few videos to lack the Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection logo.
