Laserdisc[]
Only one Laserdisc of a Studio Ghibli film was released in North America, and was distributed for Buena Vista Home Entertainment under license by Image Entertainment.
DVD[]
Initial Releases[]
The initial run of Ghibli DVDs included the same four releases as before.
Castle and Kiki were said by Disney to be some of the most requested releases on the format, and were released within popular demand.
Red Label Releases[]
With Disney dubbing more Studio Ghibli releases, from 2005-2006 they began releasing them in brand new packaging.
Blue Label Releases[]
In March 2010, Disney refreshed the packaging of their Studio Ghibli releases to memorate the DVD and Blu-Ray release of Ponyo. Disney would also reissue four of Hayao Miyazaki's films with this new packaging style as well, alongside some edits.
Blu-Ray[]
Initially, Disney only scarcally released Blu-Rays of Studio Ghibli films, but would release them more in 2015. My Neighbors the Yamadas was excluded for unknown reasons, and would not see a Blu-Ray release in North America until GKIDS and Shout! Factory took over home video distribution in 2017.
