"Hyenas in the Pride Lands" is an instrumental score composed by Hans Zimmer heard on the soundtrack, The Lion King: The Legacy Collection.
Background[]
The Lion King[]
This score can be heard from when Scar "warns" Simba about the Elephant Graveyard to the beginning of "I Just Can't Wait to Be King". However, the first minute of the song, which sounds rather dark and uses the Hyenas theme, does not appear in the film. Instead, a statement of Simba's theme plays.
Trivia[]
- A large portion of the final score is omitted from the film. The first use of the hyenas' theme is instead replaced with a statement of Simba's theme taken from "Mufasa's Ghost", and after that is finished, the music is dialed out until Simba goes to see Nala.
- When Zazu tells Simba and Nala that they are betrothed, flute notes from "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" can be heard in the cue. As well as this, a reference to the "Lala" theme can be heard, and a statement from "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" can also be heard.
- In this version, the tail-end of the score can be heard at the beginning of "I Just Can't Wait to be King".
