- “My life was never just one story. It was many stories. To some, a villain. I hurt people... in ways I can never make up for. To others, I'm... a hero. They've seen my strength, my ability to do the hard things, even when I thought I couldn't.”

Background[]
Powers and abilities[]
- Witchcraft: As one of the Dark One's pupils, Regina is a witch with a vast magical abilities on her hand to be one of the most powerful sorcerers of the entire Enchanted Forest. Although she initially had an extremely difficult start in witchcraft and struggled to master some spells, over time Regina ended up to became as skilled a witch as her mother, with a thorough knowledge of every curse, potion and spell and with enough magical power to successfully cast Maleficent's Sleeping Curse or the Dark Curse.
- Telekinesis: As a witch, Regina is capable of manipulating objects or people without physically touching them. Regina has demonstrated remarkable telekinetic feats throughout the series; some of the most notable being lifting an entire boulder, manipulating an entire armory to attack Maleficent, and strangling people or even easely breaking their necks with a simple flick of her wrist.
- Teleportation: Regina can move from one place to another at will, disappearing into what looks like a purple smoke formation.
- Summoning: Regina is able to summon objects or beings through the magic, often materializing it in one hand via a purple smoke.
- Pyrokinesis: A remarkable ability of hers, Regina is able to create and manipulate fire, often in the form of a fireball, effectively using it as a weapon against her enemies.
- Chlorokinesis: Regina can manipulate the plants. She often used them to capture and trap the people.
- Transfiguration/Shapeshifting: Regina is able to turning human beings into animals and changing the physical aspect of herself or others. She can also pietrify other living being with this power.

- Sound Manipulation: Regina has demonstrated the ability to deprive people of their voices, as she did to Ariel by robbing her of her voice for years and, much later, to Zelena during their stay in Camelot.
- Sleep Charms: Regina can magically put people to sleep with her hand gesture.
- Protection Charm: Regina can protect a place or an object by creating a magic barrier.
- Blood Magic: Regina can use blood as a ingredient or conduct to other spells, like finding someone through the blood of their relatives or put a Protection Charm on a place that it can be broken only by someone else of the same bloodline.
- Energy Blast: The ability to produce a surge of energy. This power is used offensively and produced in the form of red bolts.
- Magical Sense: Regina can sense magic in places where it has recently been used.

When Peter Pan and her son Henry left to Skull Rock to "save magic", the heroes found themselves blocked by Pan's protective shield that only allows people without shadows to enter. Regina and Emma then joined their magic together to create an eclipse, which would take away their shadows and render the shielding spell useless.

- The Dark Curse: As its original caster, Regina not only gained instant knowledge of the modern world without magic, as well as the ability to not age for the next 28 years while the curse remained active, but unlike the others she also had full awareness of every day, as well as the preservation of her memory of her previous life (and she could also choose which people could remember and be aware like her).
Weaknesses[]
- Laws of Magic: Like any magician or sorceress, Regina is subject to the laws of magic, as a result she is unable to raise the dead, create love and time travel.
- Land Without Magic: If Regina leaves Storybrooke and enters in the Land Without Magic, she will lose almost all of her magical abilities.
- Enchanted Cuffs: As shown (on-screen) cuffs that are enchanted to block magic have the same effect on her as anyone else.
- Squid Ink: Like all magical beings Regina can be immobilized with squid ink.
- Unstable Magic Power: In the world of Once Upon A Time, magic is generated purely by the emotions of those who practice it, which is why Regina, at times, has great difficulty controlling or even using her powers when she is not emotionally stable.
- Different Universes: Some realms and parallel worlds such as the Underworld, make the magic of those who are not accustomed to used it in different places to using them even more unpredictable or difficult to use.
Role in the Series[]
Before the First Curse[]
Regina and Daniel.
As revealed in the episode "The Stable Boy", that before marrying Leopold, Regina was kind and caring, and was in love with a stable boy named Daniel Colter. However, when Snow White was little, Regina's mother Cora caused her horse to go wayward, leading to her being saved by Regina and a friendship to be formed between the two. King Leopold wanted to marry her as thanks and to give his daughter a mother. Resolving to run away with Daniel, Regina made Snow promise not to tell her mother when she caught the pair kissing, but later, Snow accidentally revealed this to Cora who then killed Daniel. Regina was then forced to marry King Leopold.
Though she granted the young princess a kindness by lying to her and telling her Daniel merely ran away to spare her feeling, Regina vowed to destroy Snow's happiness to avenge Daniel. Rumplestiltskin also mentored her in the ways of Magic following Cora's banishment to Wonderland, under the pretense of helping Regina exact her revenge upon Snow, but in reality, intended to have her ultimately cast the Dark Curse on his behalf. She kills the king by taking advantage of the love the Genie holds for her. This enacts the first part of her plan and makes her ruler of Leopold's realm. She then contrives ways to kill Snow — first by enlisting the Huntsman's help. However, the Huntsman is unable to kill her, and Regina punishes him by tearing out his heart and making him her slave.
She then accuses Snow of treason and places a bounty on her head and eventually puts her into a death-like sleep with a cursed apple, after confronting her in front of Daniel's grave. However, Snow is awakened and she and Prince James are happily married. On the day of the wedding, Regina vows to cast a curse on all of the inhabitants of the Enchanted Forest and take away all of their happiness so that she is the only one who is happy. She previously traded this curse to Maleficent in exchange for the sleeping curse. However, she forcibly retrieves it from her only friend when negotiations go sour. She has difficulty enacting it and goes to see its creator, Rumplestiltskin, for advice.
In exchange for the information she desires, he asks that she give him a place of comfort and respect in the "new world" the curse will send them to and that she must do anything he asks when he utters "please." Agreeing, Regina learns she must use the heart of "the thing [she] love[s] most." She understands this to be her father Henry; with reluctance, she cuts his heart out and enacts the curse. Shortly after, she travels to Snow's castle, where she triumphantly exclaims to Snow White and Prince Charming that the curse is taking them "somewhere truly horrible." Her desire to "win for once" fuels her endless quest for revenge.
During the First Curse[]
In Storybrooke, she is Mayor Regina Mills. In 1983, Regina wakes up to learn that she successfully enacted the dark curse and is happy she won. The following day, two strangers named Kurt Flynn and his son Owen arrive in the town and Regina feels a connection with the child. She tries to bond with the father and son, even going as far as trying to get Billy to continue working on Kurt's car for a few more days so that Owen can stay with her. When Billy tells Regina that Kurt picked it up 10 minutes prior, she uses Sheriff Graham's heart to control him into arresting the father for drunk driving. However, Kurt overhears her as he has come by her office to thank her for her kindness. Just then, Graham arrests him as he has been controlled to do so. Kurt tries to tell Graham that Regina is somehow controlling him with something shaped like a heart and escapes the sheriff's grasp. Kurt and Owen try to escape Storybrooke, with Regina and Graham following them, but the father is caught and tells his son to run. While Owen runs towards the town line, Regina tearfully watches him and stops him before he is able to cross. She tries to convince him to stay with her, but he refuses and crosses the line. Meanwhile, Regina has Kurt killed as she cries when Owen is on the other side of the line. Owen tries to convince some officers that where they are is where Sheriff Graham took his father, but the police officers tell him there is nothing there and there is no town named Storybrooke anywhere in Maine, because the town is cloaked with a spell. Regina can only stand and cry as Owen promises he will one day find his father, not knowing what she had done.
Regina adopts Henry.
With Mr. Gold's help, she adopts a baby who she names Henry who, unbeknownst to her at the time, was really the grandson and son of Snow White and Prince Charming and their daughter, Emma Swan, respectively. However, her relationship with Henry is strained: he prefers the company of his birth mother, he constantly rebels, and he constantly lies to her to spend time with Emma. Because of this and after discovering who Emma really was, Regina is antagonistic toward her and is determined to keep Emma away from Henry, even going as far as to forbid Emma from seeing him without her permission and threatening to file a restraining order against Emma. Regina is also determined to convince Henry that his theory about the curse and the true identities of the Storybrooke residents is false, and she starts him on regular sessions with therapist Archie Hopper.
When Archie's methods are too slow, Regina tries to force Archie to tell Henry that his idea is crazy; however, Archie refuses and threatens to declare her an unfit mother if she continues to meddle in his sessions with Henry. She has a sexual relationship with Graham, who is really the huntsman, but he eventually breaks up with her. Out of jealousy, she crushes his heart and kills him, revealing that she remembers her identity as the Evil Queen. Regina manipulates Emma's trust of Sidney Glass to keep an eye on Emma's activities. She also tries to prevent the relationship between David Nolan and Mary Margaret Blanchard, really Prince James and Snow White, by reuniting David and his wife Kathryn, as well as using David's and Mary Margaret's affair to discredit Mary Margaret after the Nolans' marriage falls apart, and stealing Kathryn's letter stating that she never loved David and that she is allowing him to be with Mary Margaret. Regina desperately wants to remove Emma from his life, resorting to attempting to poison her. However, Henry willingly consumes the curse instead, dying shortly after. Emma finally believes, awakening Henry with true love's kiss and breaking the curse.
After the First Curse[]
Later, Regina's mother, Cora, arrives in Storybrooke, convincing her to obtain the Dark One's Dagger in order to gain power. After Cora is killed trying to protect Mr. Gold, Henry is kidnapped and taken to Neverland by new arrivals Greg and Tamara, who were previously stopped by Regina and Emma from destroying Storybrooke. Regina travels with Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Mr. Gold, and Captain Hook, to rescue Henry from the evil Peter Pan and return him to Storybrooke. However, Pan enacts Regina's curse once more, forcing her to reverse the original curse, returning her and the remaining inhabitants to their original worlds while Emma and Henry escape to New York City.
After the Second Curse[]
Regina with her half-sister Zelena.
Back in the Enchanted Forest, Regina struggles to come to terms with the loss of Henry, though Mary Margaret and Robin Hood persuade her to move forward. Regina soon learns she is half-sisters with Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West. To save them from Zelena's threats, Regina helps Snow and David enact a new curse to return to Storybrooke before Zelena adds a forgetting potion to it. With no memories of the past year, Regina faces the struggle of Henry's lost memories of her in Storybrooke until his book restores his memories and she breaks the curse with true love's kiss, restoring the residents' memories of the past year. She meanwhile forms a bond with Robin Hood, which turns romantic after she learns he is her soul mate. Zelena later obtains Regina's heart as an ingredient in her scheme to change the past, though Regina uses her newly discovered light power to defeat her.
After Emma and Hook are dragged into Zelena's time portal, they inadvertently return with Maid Marian, who was originally sentenced to death by Regina. To the anger of Regina, Marian, Robin, and Roland are reunited, causing a schism in her own relationship with Robin. Marian is later frozen by the Snow Queen, leading Regina to try to find a cure for her to help Robin while removing Marian's heart to prevent the Freezing Curse from killing her. Meanwhile, Regina and Henry seek to discover the writer of his book, believing that the events depicted, are the cause of her suffering. Later on, Regina forgives Emma, after they confront an ice warrior generated by the Snow Queen. Eventually, Regina helps locate Emma, after she runs away when she loses control of her magic. After the defeat of the Snow Queen, Regina puts Marian's heart back in her, but when she realizes that remnants of the Freezing Curse still remains, she realizes that Marian, Robin Hood, and Roland have to leave Storybrooke. Regina later learns from Henry that the writer might be in a storybook.
Regina has become mayor again, but since then her fixation have been trying to find the Author, even as going far as joining Gold, Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella De Vil in order to seek out the writer, only to be found out by Gold as a traitor. Afterward, she is then blackmailed by Gold, who tells her that Zelena is alive and has taken Marian's place by stealing Robin Hood away from her.
Regina, Mary Margaret, David, Hook, and Emma are all in Granny's diner, where Emma is asked by Maleficent to locate her daughter. When Emma discovers Maleficent's daughter is her childhood friend Lily, Regina decides to leave with her as they realize that Lily is in New York and Regina has to go there anyway to save Robin from Zelena. The pair head into an old apartment where Lily lived, but another tenant reveals that she died a few years ago. Emma and Regina later drive until the car's tire is punctured. Regina tells Emma to go have some coffee while she deals with the tire. Emma tells Regina that Lily served her coffee when she recognizes the star-shaped birthmark on her wrist. Emma and Regina break into Lily's house, revealing that she knows about magic and Storybrooke.
Suddenly, Lily breaks into Emma's car to get revenge on Emma's parents, who wronged her, but the pair catches up in another car Emma breaks into. Emma is about to shoot Lily, but Regina talks her out of it, and the two then have a heart to heart but are interrupted by Regina, who tells Emma that they need to go to Robin's house as her leverage over Gold has been taken. The three travel to Robin's House, where she reunited with Robin. She explains that Marian died through the time portal, and Zelena has been disguising as her the entire time. Zelena reveals herself to Robin, but when Regina tells him that she and Roland need to leave with her, Robin tells her he can't leave her and reveals to Regina that Zelena is pregnant.
Regina goes back to Storybrooke with everyone. She puts a magic-proof cuff on Zelena and locks her in the mental asylum until she decides what to do with her. She later recruits The Author and shows him a page of herself and Robin even though it didn't happen. He tells her that he needs savior darkness to make the ink, and so Regina stabs Lily in the hand and uses that as an alternative ingredient for the magic ink. The pair goes to the asylum, and she decides to spare Zelena. Just as she does this, The Author disappears, and she realizes she has been double-crossed by him as he is working for Gold.
Regina the Bandit.
The Author then writes everyone in an alternate universe where the sides of the characters of the Enchanted Forest have reversed. Regina is no longer the Evil Queen, but a bandit on the run, and Snow White is the Evil Queen. Henry locates her, but she brushes him off, not believing him to be her son. Henry finds his other mother, Emma, who convinces Regina to find Robin and confess her love for him, despite being engaged to the Wicked Witch of the West and her half-sister Zelena in the universe. The trio goes to the church but is met by Rumplestiltskin. He aims his sword at Henry, but Regina pushes him out the way. She is stabbed by Rumple, but Henry becomes the new Author, and he uses Regina's blood to transport everyone to Storybrooke. Regina then finds Robin, and the two walk for a date; however, they don't know that the Darkness has been released for Rumplestiltskin and tries to tether itself to Regina, making her evil again. However, Emma decides to sacrifice herself for Regina, and Emma becomes the Dark One.
Before the Third Curse[]
Shortly after Emma vanishes to Camelot, Regina and Zelena use the Apprentice's wand to create a cyclone, one which Zelena originally intended to be used to return to Oz; however, Regina hijacks the portal and uses it to take Granny's Diner to the Enchanted Forest, where they arrive just in time to talk Emma out of killing a princess named Merida. Regina and the others help convince Emma to find another way to locate Merlin without killing an innocent person. Afterward, Emma entrusts the dagger to Regina, believing the Queen to be the only one willing to kill her if things got out of hand. Shortly after, King Arthur and his knights arrive, stating that the newcomers were prophesied to return by Merlin. As such, Arthur leads them to his kingdom in Camelot. During this time, Regina takes Emma's place as the Savior.
Regina wards off King Arthur and his knights.
During their time in Camelot, Regina and the others realize that they cannot trust Arthur, who has been driven mad by his desire to destroy the Dark One so he may reunite the dagger with Excalibur. In the episode "Dreamcatcher", Regina helps Emma free Merlin from the tree by fending off Arthur and his knights with her dark magic. However, their plan to steal Excalibur from Arthur in order to reunite it with the dagger backfires after Zelena betrays the heroes and helps Arthur tether Merlin to Excalibur. Afterward, Regina is among those held captive by Arthur, who orders Merlin to kill her and the others if Emma doesn't surrender the dagger to him. Though Emma manages to use her dark magic to free her family and escape from Arthur and Zelena, Hook is struck fatally and collapses while Emma reunites Excalibur. To save Hook's life, Emma tethers him to Excalibur and makes him a second Dark One. After Hook becomes consumed by the darkness and casts the Dark Curse, Regina and the others' memories are wiped by Emma, who seeks to take on responsibility for what has transpired and find a way to destroy the darkness within her and Hook on her own.
During the Third Curse[]
Emma, the new Dark One, confronts Regina.
After Hook's curse is cast, Regina wakes up with the others in Granny's Diner with no memory of what had transpired. Confronted by Emma, Regina threatens to use the dagger on her, only to discover that Emma has reclaimed the dagger. While the heroes try to deal with a Dark One Emma, Storybrooke is plagued by a Fury there to claim Robin's soul. However, Regina, aided by her friends, sends the Fury back to the Underworld. In the episode "Birth," Regina tries to protect her niece from Emma, only to learn that the Dark One was after Zelena, not her child. Confronting Emma at her mansion, Regina learns that Emma had planned to place her darkness in Zelena and use Excalibur to kill her and destroy the darkness once and for all, a plan Regina and the others cannot support.
Ultimately, however, the plan backfires when Zelena and Hook recover their stolen memories, and the latter resumes his original dark plan to return the souls of the Dark Ones to life in exchange for help in killing Rumplestiltskin. Regina is among those whose souls are claimed; as such, in desperation, the Queen banishes Zelena to Oz to protect Robin's child. In the final confrontation with Hook in "Swan Song," Regina and Emma speak to Hook and remind him who he is, forcing him to reconsider his actions and sacrifice his life to destroy the darkness. However, upon learning that the darkness merely transferred back into Gold, Regina supports Emma's plan to venture into the Underworld to save Hook from Hades.
After the Third Curse[]
Regina in the Underworld.
Upon her arrival in the Underworld, Regina is confronted by her mother Cora, who threatens her father Henry if Regina does not leave the Underworld. However, when speaking with her father, Regina is advised not to abandon her friends. Instead, Regina confronts her mother. Though Cora attacks him, Henry's soul can pass on to Olympus since his unfinished business has been completed. However, this fact leads Hades into claiming Regina's, Snow's, and Emma's souls.
When Zelena arrived in the Underworld with her baby, this added to more tensions for Regina, who soon discovers that Hades and her sister had met back in Oz and is being enticed by Hades to become a couple, resulting in Regina breaking Cora free from Hades' manual labor camp in order to stop Zelena. The reunion doesn't go well as planned until Cora restores a memory spell (when Cora brought Zelena to the Enchanted Forest to help save Regina after she tampered with a wand that left her unconscious, but when Cora tells them that they're sisters, Cora erased their memories of having met each other). Regina and Zelena finally made up and with that allowed Cora to move on to Mount Olympus as part of her unfinished business.
Regina and Robin try to convince Zelena of Hades' deception.
Hades attempts to trap the heroes in the Underworld by getting the Blind Witch to cast a spell. Regina and Emma break the spell, and a portal is opened, taking all the heroes back to Storybrooke. Hades also comes to Storybrooke and attempts to use the Olympian Crystal to kill Regina, but Robin sacrifices himself to save Regina and gets killed instead. Zelena arrives, and Hades tries to convince her to kill Regina using the Crystal, but she uses it to kill Hades. A funeral is held for Robin. At Granny's after the funeral, the heroes realize that Gold is tethering all of Storybrooke's magic to the Olympian Crystal.
Everyone searches for the Crystal, but Emma tells Regina to sit it out, to which Regina decides to fix it on her own. Henry gets the Crystal and attempts to destroy magic in New York. Regina and Emma follow him to New York, where he succeeds in destroying magic. Henry gets all New York Citizens to throw coins in a fountain and make a wish, leading to magic being restored. Regina confides in Snow and Emma that she will never get rid of the Evil Queen. Snow comes up with an idea and injects Regina with a serum that separates Regina from the Evil Queen. Regina rips out the Evil Queen's heart and crushes it destroying her darkness for good. The heroes then return to Storybrooke. However, they are unaware that the Evil Queen is still alive and in New York.
Before the Fourth Curse[]
After ripping out and seemingly destroying her dark counterpart, Regina assists her family and welcomes the citizens from the Land of Untold Stories to Storybrooke. Regina gives a speech about second chances and informs everyone that if she can get one, so can they and that they are welcome in this land. Regina apologises to Snow for being a horrible stepmother, but Snow forgives her and praises her for how much she has changed. During this time, Regina has allowed Zelena and her daughter, Robin to live with them. After Mr. Hyde dies as a result of Jeykll being killed by Killian for saving Belle, Regina and Mr. Gold realise that the only way for the Evil Queen to die is for Regina to die as well.
Regina, David and Snow work together to figure out how to stop the Evil Queen.
Regina learns that the Count of Monte Cristo has arrived in Storybrooke and remembers that she once sent him to kill Snow White and Prince Charming, but now that he has arrived in this town, he is determined to continue his quest even though Regina tries to talk him out of it. Regina saves Snow and David when the Count tries to kill them, learning the Evil Queen has his heart and is controlling him. Regina kills the count, learning that her evil counterpart wanted her to kill him, to prove that the darkness is still inside of Regina. Regina and her family quickly learn that the Evil Queen wants Snow and Charming to sacrifice themselves to finally have their hearts like she always wanted. The group figure out that the queen has gained a special water from the river of lost souls from the Underworld, and plans to use it on the whole town if Snow and David don't give themselves over to her. The Queen later takes their hearts and Regina deduces that her evil counterpart has placed a sleeping curse on Snow and David's shared heart, which means one will be awake why the other sleeps, after witnessing him fall asleep once he awakens her.
A few days later, Regina decides to confront the queen herself after seeing Snow miserable over not being with David, but Emma advises against the idea, while Regina notices Emma's hands trembeling. When the queen disguises herself as Archie Hopper, Emma is forced to admit that she has been having visions of her future and that she believes Regina might be the figure under the hood that kills Emma. Emma and Regina later come up with the plan to trap the queen in the mirror world, but she over powers them by trapping Henry's mothers in there instead, posing as Regina and getting close to Henry. However, Henry sees straight through the queen's disguise, and frees Emma and Regina from the mirror world.
With Aladdin and Jasmine from Agrabah having arrived in town from the Land of Untold Stories, the Evil Queen uses Aladdin, who has the power of the Genie, to send Emma to the wish realm by wishing she was never the savior. Regina wishes to be sent there and finds herself in the wish realm, only to realise she doesn't recongise Regina in this world and that Snow and Charming defeated her in this new world, allowing Emma to grow up her parents and be raised as a princess, while Snow and David became king and queen. Regina learns the Charming's banished her in this world and she tries to get Emma to remember her life in Storybrooke and realise that none of this is real. To ensure Emma will remember, Regina acts as the evil queen and kills Snow and Charming, which makes Emma wake up from the dream land and remember Regina, while they meet Wish realm Henry, who vows revenge on Regina for killing his grandparents, which he holds a grudge for against her for years. On their way to the portal, Regina is shocked to see a wish realm version of Robin Hood, who tries to rob her and Emma. Emma tries to remind Regina that this Robin is not real, but she is too shocked and the portal closes.
Regina with Wish realm Robin.
With the portal closed, Emma and Regina are trapped in the wish realm and decide to encounter wish Pinocchio, asking him to rebuild the magical wardrobe that once teleported Emma to the land without magic. While Emma and Pinocchio work on the wardrobe, Regina spends time with wish Robin and they end up getting arrested. Locked up, the two get closer and she tells him about the life of her Robin Hood, telling him the man she loved died, but believes he had a good life. Upon freeing themselves, Regina and Robin arrive at where the magical wardrobe has been built, and Regina invites wish-Robin to come to Storybrooke with her. Emma and Regina return to Storybroke with Robin arriving shortly afterwards, much to Regina's delight. With wish-Robin in town, Regina helps him settle in and brings to rebuild the relationship she had with her Robin, but they realise they can't be together, because while this man looks like Regina's late boyfriend, the spark with this Robin is not there. Robin later returns to the wish realm, while Regina fully accepts that her soulmate is truly gone.
Regina helps her evil counterpart, allowing them both to have some good and evil.
Regina and Zelena later learn that Emma is engaged to Killian, and happily congratulates her friend on her engagement. er. During the duel, the Queen expresses loathing and disgust over her better half's attempt to fill the darkness in herself with love and friendship. After binding her doppelgänger to a wall, Regina ferociously declares that the Queen will never again be able to take away the good in her life, before ripping out the Queen's heart. Regina moves to crush the heart, only to catch her own reflection in broken mirror shards, as she is reminded of how much she hated herself as the Evil Queen. Deciding to choose love over hate, pulls out her own heart to allow both her and the Queen's hearts to absorb equal amounts of light and dark before returning the Queen's heart. In the aftermath, Regina is relieved to learn Robin is safe in his original realm. When asked by the Queen if she regretted not taking a chance with the original Robin all those years ago, she denies it because had she not made that choice, she would not have the life she has now. Regina unsuccessfully tries to convince her friends and family that the Queen has changed for the better, though the Queen also makes things right by apologizing to her loved ones. Henry uses the author's pen to give the queen her happy ending by sending her to the wish realm, where wish Robin has gone, allowing them to be together.
Upon learning that Killian left town and that Emma is sad over this, Regina takes a break from figuring out how to break the sleeping curse, by suggests that they have a girls night with Snow, so that Emma can vent to them about Killian, although Snow gets drunk very quickly. Emma opens up to Regina and Snow and allows herself to cry over Killian, and Regina and Snow comfort her. Regina later cleans up the messes that the queen made by freeing the Dragon from the mirror world and makes progress with the sleeping curse. Henry offers to help his mom, but his author powers take over and cause Henry to not be aware of what he is drawing or writing so Regina takes Henry to see Issac, the original author, who tells Regina that Henry's powers are what happened to him and it can't be stopped. Regina takes Henry to the town line and they learn the final battle is approaching, which is the final chapter of the book.
Regina and Zelena with Snow and David's hearts.
After learning about the final battle, David pressures Regina into finding on an antidote for the sleeping curse so he and Snow can be there for Emma when the battle happens, although Regina tells him she is still working on it. Zelena and Regina manage to erase the dark spots from their hearts and After Regina has collected enough of the flower's dust for the antidote in a vial and given it to Emma, Hook's shadow comes to deliver a wand to allow Emma to banish the Black Fairy back to the Dark Realm. With Snow's blessing, Emma uses the potion to rescue Hook from Neverland, and Snow and David both fall under the sleeping curse for their daughter. When Emma and Killian return home, Regina moves Henry aside to Killian can propose to Emma properly and she accepts. Regina comes up with another way to break the curse and brings the people of Storybrooke to her office where she lies Snow and Charming on the desk and makes a speech about how Snow and Charming gave up their family by sending Emma through the wardrobe and abandoned their original plan of not reuniting with her when she was 10 years old, so that their people could one day be freed from the curse. Regina convinces everyone to drink some of the curse, which awakens both Snow and David, but everyone falls asleep until awoken themselves. Snow and David thank Regina, who tells them that the couple inspired everyone in the past for this to work, and Snow believes she gained a bigger family in return, before telling Emma she knows they can defeat the Black Fairy because Emma won't be facing her alone.
Before the Fourth Curse[]
Regina and Emma learn that the Black Fairy offered an allience with Zelena, who wants to kill the black fairy herself, but Regina tries to talk her out of it, but Zelena reminds her sister that she is more powerful than her. However, Zelena has a change of heart about working with the black fairy and returns to Regina and the others with a special item that will get rid of Zelena's magic. Zelena gets rid of her magic and Regina praises her sister for choosing good. Emma proposes getting Mother Superior to help them collect more crystals from the mines, to which Regina mentions unsuccessfully trying to get ahold of the nun, however, Zelena reveals she saw her body in the pawnshop. Later, Regina is present as Emma uses a fairy crystal to restart Mother Superior's heart.
Regina comforts Zelena when she comments how she feels useless without her magic and worries that she won't be able to protect her daughter during the final battle. Now with Zelena's magic gone, she is unable to teleport so Regina teaches her to drive a car, which even makes her drive into the black fairy when Regina and Emma confront her. During a lesson, Regina asks Zelena to take Henry to New York and care for him if she dies during the battle, which Zelena says she will and thanks her sister for trusting her with her son.Regina gets a call from Snow asking her to decipher Mother Superior's clue about the other wand half being at "heart of Storybrooke." Regina suggests that it must be a place that has sentimental value to the townspeople, which Snow guesses is the diner. Zelena offers to drive her sister there, but Regina declines and teleports away on her own. Interrupting Granny during the diner's lunch hour, Regina is in the middle of searching behind the counter when David, Snow, and Hook arrive to help her look. After David and Hook discover the wand hidden under the jukebox, she asks for it, however, both Hook and Snow express skepticism about whether she is the real Regina or the Black Fairy in disguise. This doubt is settled when the Black Fairy shows up to demand the wand from them, to which Hook gives it to Regina, who challenges Fiona to a fight. Regina teleports the both of them outside, where the Black Fairy blasts her, causing her to be propelled backward a few feet as she ends up on one bended knee. The fairy, while preparing to hit her with another surge of magic, is hit by Zelena's car and sent flying before she teleports away.
Regina and Emma go to Gold's shop and enter his dreamworld where they learn he was destined to be the savior, but the darkness from his mother prevented this from happening and that he is meant to kill his mother. At Emma's house, Regina spends time with her as they admire the wedding dresses and Snow offers her dress to her daughter, who happily accepts the dress, until the black fairy destroys it. The black fairy announces her curse and is defeated but the curse is still coming and takes hold as Emma and Hook get married.
During the Fourth Curse[]
The heroes in Regina's castle.
When the Black Fairy's curse takes hold, everyone is teleported to the Enchanted Forest once again, while Henry and Emma, who has lost her memories, stay in Storybrooke. While in the castle, Regina reunites with her other half and learns she lives there, but the residents quickly realise the realms are disappearing, as people like Aladdin and Jasmine, have arrived at the castle because their realm has gone. While Hook and David go to the beanstalk and plan to climb it, the rest of the family figure out why the realms are disappearing, only to realise it's because Emma is being tricked by Fiona into thinking fairytales aren't real and to burn the book. Regina poofs everyone to another part of the castle so they can figure out another way to get to Emma and for the curse to be broken. Regina asks Zelena to get her some lizardhorn, but the latter cannot find any in the castle, causing Regina to suspect someone has broken in and stolen all of it. As the two attempt to narrow down who it could be, they hear a noise at the door and go to investigate, only to find the Evil Queen on the other side. Regina is very surprised to see her and learns the Queen left the Wish Realm with Robin for the Enchanted Forest after Sir Henry attempted to kill her.
When Hook and David return to the castle, they find the magic bean has no magic attached with it because Emma does not believe in magic. Regina suggests she and the Queen can use their powers to replenish a withered magic bean to reach Storybrooke, but the Queen doesn't believe that it's possible even with their combined magic. When the queen realises how quickly the realms are disappearing, she stays behind while Regina and the others leave as the queen holds it off. Just as the realms start to be destroyed, everyone realises they are okay because Emma regained her memories and restored the realms of magic.
After the Fourth Curse[]
With the curse broken, the heroes learn that the Black Fairy commanded Gideon to kill Emma regardless and they find her battling Gideon on main street. Emma allows Gideon to kill her and she dies as he stabs her, which allows light magic to be released within Emma and Gideon returns to an infant. Regina, Killian and their family find Emma dead, but Henry is able to revive her with true loves kiss. With the final battle won, Regina and her family enjoy dinner at Granny's, and the town is finally able to live at peace. Regina heads for her mayoral office, but when she gets to the door, she sees Leroy, Walter, and Mr. Clark strangely blocking the entrance. The three men eventually step aside to let her see that they changed the lettering on the door from "Mayor's Office" to "Regina Mills Queen." Regina is touched by the gesture and smiles at them as they tip their hats to her.
Regina says goodbye to Henry.
A couple of years later, Henry is a senior in high school and Regina wants to mark his height on the wall as she always has for her son. As a gift, Regina gives Henry her car as she knows he isn't a kid anymore and that he will need it when he attends Storybrooke college the following year, although Henry isn't sure if he should attend that college because he is still figuring out the best choice for himself. After Henry's graduation, Regina tries to get Henry to discuss colleges although he believes it is best to wait until the following day. After Henry goes upstairs, Regina finds the essay he wanted to write about magic, that he couldn't hand into class. Shortly after Henry's graduation, Regina and Emma take him on a trip.
Some time after graduation, Henry decides he wants to travel the realms as he wants to find his own story and happy ending, and although Regina is sad to let her son go, she supports his decision and watches as he drives his motorcycle through a portal from a magic bean. Several years later, Regina, Emma and Hook are summoned by Henry as he is being held hostage by Lady Tramaine and her daughter Drizella. While Emma does not come, Regina and Hook do arrive through a portal and Killian rescues his son. Regina comments on how Henry is so grown up even though hardly any time has passed for Regina and Killian. Regina confronts Killian when he lies to Henry about why Emma didn't come, although it is later revealed she was resting as she is pregnant and wanted to come and see Henry herself and tell him the news. After Emma saves Wish-Hook, she, Killian and Regina are ready to go, but Henry asks Regina to stay with him and wish-Hook, telling his mother that her story isn't over. With encouragement from her son, Regina decides to stay in the Magical Forest with him and wish-Hook, who Henry teams up with.
Regina gets to know Cinderella.
Some time after deciding to stay in the magical forest, Regina is working on a locator spell when she, Henry and Hook, meets Ella and Tiana who are part of the Resistance. Henry introduces Regina as his mother to Ella, who asks if Hook is his father, to which the captain says that's not quite right (as Henry's father is in Storybrooke and a man who looks like the captain). Regina later finds Drizella working on magic and offer to help train her, by telling her that she cast the first dark curse, although Regina is unaware that Drizella would take this advice literally. Regina is then reunited with an older Rumplestiltskin and learns that he spent years with Belle in another realm, where time moves incredibly slowly and the sun never sets, which led to Belle's death of old age and that Rumple couldn't get rid of the Dark One's Dagger like he planned. Regina and Rumple comfort each other and he reminds her of how her mother used to treat her, comparing Cora to how Lady Tramaine is treating Drizella.
Henry and Cinderella later marry and welcome a little girl, whom they name Lucy, and Drizella threatens them with a dark curse that will be cast on Lucy's eighth birthday., just as she is turned to a statue. Eight years later, the curse takes effect and Drizella is freed from the spell. However, Regina learns that Henry has been poisoned and will die, Regina decides to cast the curse to save her son's life, even if it will mean she has no memories of this. The curse then takes everyone in the magical forest to the land without magic; Seattle.
During the Fifth Curse[]
Regina's cursed counterpart; Roni.
While living in Hyperion Heights, Regina is known as Roni, who owns her own bar. Roni persuades Kelly's daughter Margot, who is Roni's niece, that going to college is a waste of time and instead hires her to work at the pub, in addition to later providing her with a ticket to Amsterdam. However, this backfires when Margot decides to not come back and instead stay in Phuket to party her life away, resulting in Kelly blaming Roni for her daughter's decision. After Kelly is pushed out of Hyperion Heights by Victoria Belfrey and moves to San Francisco, Roni renames the pub to "Roni's," puts the old pub sign in storage, and refurnishes some of the bar's aesthetics.
Roni is later threatened by Victoria Bellfrey into selling the bar to her. Roni is setting up when Henry Mills enters the bar, who she introduces herself to. Roni explaining her issues with Victoria, and Henry revealing that a girl showed up at his apartment and claimed to be his daughter before stealing his laptop. Jacinda Vidrio, Lucy's mother, arrives to return Henry's laptop, apologizing for her daughter's behavior, as Henry muses that he's now certain Lucy can't be his daughter because he would have remembered Jacinda. Recognizing the romantic tension between the pair, Roni offers them both drinks to break the ice. Roni watches as they bond, but they are unfortunately interrupted when Victoria arrives, livid over learning her granddaughter Lucy sneaked out during the night to see Henry, a complete stranger.
When Victoria later threatens Roni to shut down the bar, Roni stands up to her about how much people like this place and what the community is like, which causes Bellfey to leave and Roni smiles, feeling victorious against her. After learning one day that Victoria is planning on destroying the local park, Roni convinces Jacinda to form a petition for people to sign so it is not destroyed. When Jacinda fails to get the attention of the people, Roni helps her and they are able to get people to sign it.
Regina and Henry after she wakes up from the curse.
Ivy later takes Roni down to where Gothel is and Roni finds a photo of herself and a young boy in a town named Storybrooke, but has no memory of going there and shows it to Henry, but he has no memory of going there. Henry tells her that that little boy is him, but has no memory of being in that town either. Roni assumes Victoria is playing around with them and grabs her baseball bat to go teach her a lesson, though Henry persuades her to calm down so they can investigate things first. From the photo, Henry deduces that the Evil Queen adopted a little boy from Boston. Roni is working at the bar when Ivy gives her a drink, which awakens Roni from the curse, allowing her to regain her memories as Regina and remembers that Ivy is Drizella. Drizella taunts Regina about why she enacted the curse and threatens Henry's life, reminding her that Henry will die if the curse is broken. Roni takes Henry out for pizza and tells him how she failed to adopt in the past, but he tells her he would have been happy for her to be his mother.
Roni visits Kelley
Jacinda and Henry come to Roni's bar and she mentions how she needs an income since the food truck business hasn't started yet, and Roni hires her on the spot. Ivy comes in and warns Roni that if the curse breaks, Henry will die. Roni meets with Lucy and tells her how she remembers her life as Regina. Lucy embraces Regina and they come up with a plan to get Henry and Jacinda to kiss so they can break the curse with true loves kiss, but Lucy soon learns about Henry's state while in the other world, and worries her dad will die. After Lucy tries to seperate her parents on their budding romance, Roni finds Henry drunk in her bar and asks him to join her on a trip to San Francisco. Henry agrees and when they get there, Roni takes Henry to a polaties class where Kelley West, Roni's sister, is teaching. After the class is finished, Roni tries to persuade Kelley that they are cursed but Kelley doesn't believe her. However, Roni offers Kelley a drink and wakes her sister up from the curse. With Zelena back, Regina tells her they need to return to the heights but Zelena reveals she is getting married to a man named Chad. That said, Zelena agrees and goes back to Hyperion Heights with Regina and Henry and puts the wedding on hold. At the airport, Roni is informed by Henry that Lucy still hasn't woken up even after kissing her, and Roni and Kelley realise the only way to wake Lucy is for the curse to be broken, which would result in Henry's death.
Upon returning to Hyperion Heights, Roni visits the hospital and is informed by Henry that Lucy's condition is stable, but there are no improvements. Roni reminds him not to give up and how much Lucy needs his belief even if she can't ask for it right now. Henry thanks her for the pep talk, but walks off in low spirits. Kelly sympathetically notices how difficult it is for her because Henry doesn't remember her. Despite not having a real plan to both save Henry and Lucy without either of them dying, Roni is certain she and Kelly can figure out together. Later, Kelly tells Regina about Gothel approaching her for an offer: she'll revive Lucy in exchange for the Resurrection Amulet. Kelly believes they should pretend to play along with Gothel's game, which Roni agrees with, suggesting they locate the amulet first and find a way to use it without paying the price of its magic. Victoria shows up and tells Roni and Kelley that she is willing to sacrifice Lucy for her own good, believing it would save her own daughter, but when Roni and Kelley later return to the hospital, they find Lucy is awake, deducing that Victoria clearly sacrificed herself.
Roni and Kelley resume their partnership when Baron Samdi approaches Roni, giving her his card. With this card, Roni and Kelley deduce that the man is Dr. Facilier and suspect that he might be awake like them. To test their theory, Kelley pretends to be Roni and their suspicions are confirmed. Roni later visits Samdi and reveals she is awake like him and they spend the night together. Roni later finds Henry to tells her that Lucy has been trying to keep him and Jacinda apart, but doesn't understand why the change as she has been trying to get them together since the beginning. The next day, Roni lures Samdi out of his apartment to go on a date with her, but she secretly tampers with the door latch to ensure Lucy can sneak in later. The two go out for lunch and enjoy a stroll together afterward, with Roni commenting that the chowder she ate was delicious. Samdi begins confessing something he has been meaning to tell her, but Kelly catches them and calls out Roni for lying to her and Samdi for being awake. After Samdi is gone, Roni reveals to Kelley that the date was a cover, so that Lucy can go to his apartment to get intel on him. Lucy is able to escape Samdi's house in time and finds a death card, which she shows Roni. When Samdi comes to the bar, Roni reveals that she sent Lucy into his apartment, but it doesn't change what Lucy found. Samdi reveals she plans on killing Weaver with the Dark One's Dagger, but Roni tells him she won't allow it. Roni later reveals Samdi's plans to Weaver and later apologises to her sister about lying to her, promising to be honest with her from now on. Kelley's daughter, Margot returns to town from her travels and Roni consoles her sister on how hard it is to keep the secret that they are awake and Margot doesn't have a clue about who they really are.
After noticing that Lucy is sad over not connecting with anyone like her mom does with Sabine, Roni reveals that back in the Magical Forest, Henry was close with Captain Hook and Hansel, who in this world is named Nick, who is believed to be Lucy's father. Roni and Lucy decide to get the three men to hang out together to jog Henry's memories without the curse breaking, although it does not work. That evening, Ivy/Drizella comes to Roni/Regina to help her as the witch killer is after her. Roni refuses because Ivy has no cure for Henry's poisoned heart, but eventually gives in when Ivy tells her she has no one else to turn to now that her mother is dead. Roni tries to contact Weaver, but he does not respond so she tracks him down at a restaurant, where Anastasia has been reported to have been found. Roni tells Weaver that Ivy has disappeared and he suspects that she might be with Samdi.
Roni receives magic to save Henry.
Roni insists she is working on changing his mind, but Weaver reminds her if things remain unchanged, he won't be able to reunite with Belle and there's no telling what Samdi will do to Anastasia. Roni agrees with the severity of the situation which is why she has come to him, and Weaver tells her they have to reach Anastasia before Ivy does. Weaver and Roni eventually find both girls at Victoria's old office in Belfrey Towers, where the sisters have since reconciled with each other after thwarting Gothel's attempt to manipulate Anastasia into killing Ivy. Ivy, finally understanding the strength in love and family that Roni tried to convince her of when she was still her magic student, makes mention of returning to the Magical Forest with her sister. Despite Ivy being the one who cursed everyone, Roni tells her that it will be fine as she has experiences with her family, as they have broken curses many times before. After the sisters disappear into the magic bean portal, Roni expresses surprise at Weaver for letting Anastasia go as he needed her Guardian powers to reach Belle. Weaver muses that every time he does something good, he is brought closer to her and he has hope that one day another Guardian will appear. Samdi then appears to Roni and reveals he mislead Anastasia and just wanted her magic, before flirting with Roni, who turns him down, but he still gives her a vile of magic to save Henry, without any price.
Kelley finds out that Henry left town for New York for a job offer and informs Roni, but they are unaware that Nick remembers his life as Hansel and is holding Henry captive in his apartment. While Henry is being held captive, Roni is working on the potion that will cure Henry, when Kelley/Zelena comes and tells her that Henry is missing, as well as belleieving that Chad will not accept her as Zelena as he has only known her as Kelley. While Roni continues working on the potion, Kelley goes to detective Weaver for help against Nick, but Roni assures her she won't let Nick kill her. Kelley is then informed that Nick has her fiance' Chad captive, but she saves him and reveals her true history to him and who she really is. Zelena tells Regina that Chad accepted her for who she is, and Roni embraces her sister, congratulating her and wishes her well as Kelley plans on going back to San Francisco to marry Chad. The sisters then share a goodbye hug as Kelley reveals to Margot the wedding is back on.
Roni is working on the cure, when Weaver reveals that Nick has been killed, and Roni deduces that Samdi must be behind it. Seeing that Roni is working on a potion, Weaver wants it for himself, but she refuses, although she does sympathise that things are hard for Weaver since being separated from Belle and that he is trying to reunite with her, but she needs to save Henry. Roni later confronts Samdi at his hotel and he admits he killed Nick, but did not steal the dagger. Roni believes Samdi and hides the potion, but Weaver later steals it from Roni when she is not around. Noticing the potion to be gone, Roni confronts Weaver on stealing it and he reveals Tilly has the dagger. Roni angrily accuses Weaver of being selfish by stealing the potion as she knows he is awake and he knows that Henry's life is at stake. Roni angrily leaves, but not before accusing Weaver of not having changed at all, no matter how much he believes he has.
Roni suddenly finds a storm outside and Lucy tells her that a true loves kiss did not break the curse, with them seeing Samdi curing Henry's heart. Gothel approaches them and reveals she is responsible for the storm as she is the human form of nature. Gothel threatens the lives of humanity and when Roni says she will stop her, Gothel tells her that's impossible because Roni's magic does not work and won't because Henry doesn't have belief in this world. Roni works on trying to harness magic from the storm when Weaver approaches her and offers to help her by giving her a memory potion. Roni asks Weaver why he has decided to help her now, to which he tells her his dying wish is reunited with Belle and wants to help the family he has left. Roni visits Henry and learns she and Jacinda are now a couple and she congratulates him. When learning that Henry and Jacinda are taking Henry to an island, Roni offers him a drink and slips the memory potion into it, but he does not regain his memories, which makes Roni and Lucy believe he truly has lost belief. Upon this realisation, Roni asks Henry if he wants to believe, but he thinks it is crazy to think fairytales are real. When Henry leaves, Roni and Lucy decide to dig up the storybook to restore his memories, as it worked years earlier.
Roni and Lucy try to get Henry to believe.
Roni then shows Henry the proof that she is his mother as she has signed adoption papers about adopting a Henry Mills and the photo of them both. However, Henry refuses to believe this as he remembers that he was born in prison and his house blew up in flames. Roni tells him that the curse brought them to the land without magic as part of the curse and that's why Prince Charming, Snow White and Emma Swan are not here. Henry says he wants to believe that this all true, as he wants a family, but can't accept it as the truth no matter that Roni shows him. Roni recalls he couldn't save Ella and Lucy when the curse was cast and is still blaming himself even now, but she has belief in him to save them now because they've always been by his side. However, Henry reacts by saying goodbye and leaving the bar, but not before Roni is able to slip the adoption papers into his bag. Finding the papers, he calls a number and a younger Henry in Storybrooke answers the call, which restores adult Henry's memories.
While Henry regains his memories, Roni confronts Gothel at the community gardens, but is unable to defeat her as Roni does not have her magic, but refuses to put up without a fight, which results in Gothel knocking Roni unconcious. Henry runs to Roni's side and tells her he remembers everything and kisses her head while apologising it took so long for him to regain his memories. Desperate for his mother to wake up, Henry kisses Roni on the head, which acts as true loves kiss and breaks the curse.
After the Fifth Curse[]
Henry and Regina face Gothel.
As soon as the curse breaks, Roni wakes up and reunites with her son, and throws a fireball at Gothel now she has her magic back, but Gothel appears to be too powerful for Roni as Rogers, Weaver and Margot, who have regained their memories, help Roni against Eloise, who is then defeated by being turned into a tree. With Gothel defeated, Henry tells Regina that he got lost along the way, which is why he didn't want to believe, but understands that she taught him setbacks are okay and they are a way of life. The two then reunite with are then reunited with their family.
To celebrate the curse being broken, Roni gives Henry, Lucy and Jacinda drinks. Henry asks Regina if he had heard from Facilier but he tells him she hasn't and has no idea where he is. Regina goes to his office but he is not there and finds photos from Rumplestiltskin's photo album. She finds Weaver in the apartment, who informs her that Facilier was killed by Weaver's wish realm counterpart and Regina, Hook and Weaver have drinks and discuss what to do about wish Rumple. Weaver explains that the wish realm Rumple is far darker than he ever was because he didn't have the part that loved Belle. Henry arrives and explains that wish-Rumple kidnapped Ella and Lucy and took them to the wish realm, so he, Regina, Rumple and Hook use Alice's looking glass to locate Lucy and Ella, but it has been tampered with by wish-Rumple to get them to enter the wish realm, which is unknown to the foursome.
Regina, Hook, Henry and Weaver enter the wish realm.
However, upon arrival, the foursome are seperated and Regina ends up in Rumplestiltskin's Castle with Henry while Gold and Hook end up at Rumple's childhood home. Regina and Henry find wish Peter Pan trapped in his son's castle and warns them that once someone enters Rumple's castle, they never come out, explaining that he can't help them defeat his son. Henry and Regina explore the castle more when they meet Wish-Cruella, who immediately starts flirting with Henry, much to his and Regina's annoyance. Regina and Henry soon learn that Lucy and Ella are trapped in a crystal ball, and they promise to get them out. Wish Rumple tells Henry he wants the Dark One's Dagger and will let Ella and Lucy free if he is given it, but Henry refuses so Rumple creates a snowstorm inside the ball, telling Henry that Lucy and Ella have limited time before they will freeze to death. Rumple teleports away and Regina tries to use magic to break the ball, but is unsuccessful. Hook and Gold arrive at the castle and are reunited with Henry and Regina. Henry comments that the best way to free his family is to give the Dark One the dagger, but Gold refuses and Henry reminds him how he was willing to cast the first curse to find his son. Regina is appalled by her son's words, but Henry stands by them and says he deserves a happy ending more than Gold does. Gold decides to confront the Dark One alone, who knocks Regina out before teleporting away.
Everyone returns to the castle where they find Wish-Rumple with Sir Henry, Henry's wish-realm counterpart. Sir Henry reminds Regina about how she killed his grandparents years ago and that he hasn't forgotten. Regina tries to inform Sir Henry that Rumple is manipulating him and they realise the has the author's pen, to which Henry apologises about handing it to Rumple. Sir Henry reveals he made a deal with Rumplestiltskin to get his own happy ending and writes the guardian's powers out of existence, which means Gold will never be able to return to Belle and get rid of the dark one's powers. The Dark One suddenly teleports Henry, Gold and Hook into the same snow globe that Lucy and Ella are in. Regina realises she was spared and Sir Henry reveals he wants to duel her as revenge for her killing Snow and Charming as well as taking away Emma, which prevented him from getting a happy ending. Henry tells Regina he does not want to be saved and tells her they will fight the next day.
Regina's vision of Robin.
That night, Regina finds herself in a tavern where she is suddenly greeted by Robin Hood. She asks him if she is dreaming and he says yes because he is gone, but is still in her heart, which is why he appeared to her. She tells him that she might be joining him in the afterlife soon as a version of her son wants her dead. Robin reminds her of how he saw her as a villain when they first met, but she changed and so can Henry. Regina comments how its unfair that their story was short and did not get their happy ending together, but Robin tells her that their story was still epic. The two share a kiss, which wakes her up and she finds a feather in her hand. Regina is then saved by Henry, who is nearly killed by a black knight, until he is saved by Snow White and Prince Charming. Snow and David take Regina and their group to the castle's war council room and reveal they saw Rumplestiltskin has created several storybooks for every fairytale character in existence, but plans to place each person in their book where they do not have happy endings. While everyone else tries to make sure they do not end up in these books, Regina finds Sir Henry and tries to convince him that there are people in his life that love him, but he doesn't want to listen and threatens her life, saying that her death is all he needs to be happy.. As Regina reluctantly duels with him, the darkness in Henry's blood reaches a boiling point, helping to open portals to the alternate realms. Once Henry corners her and prepares to end her life, Regina agrees to let him kill her if it means her death can prove to him that his family will still love him no matter how many bad things he has done. Henry decides to drop his weapon when Regina accepts her fate, and he embraces her as he has finally let go of his hate.
Regina and Sir Henry then return to Rumplestiltskin's Castle, where they learn that Gold has died by sacrificing his life for Rogers, by giving his friend his heart, which destroyed Wish Rumple. Regina mourns her friend and thanks him for one final lesson. She tells him that he deserves peace more than anyone and that he is proof that darkness can always find the light. When Henry asks what to do now that Rumplestiltskin has been defeated, Regina decides to use the dark curse scroll to cast one final curse, but instead of using the heart of the thing she loves most for a dark curse, she will use the parts of the hearts of the people she loves and who love her, to enact a light curse that will bring all the realms to Storybrooke so that every single fairytale character can live in one place, so no one is apart.
After the Sixth Curse[]
Regina becomes the Good Queen.
Regina casts the light curse, which unites the realms in the Enchanted Forest and Magical Forest, allowing all the fairytale characters to be happy in one area. Some time later, Regina is told there is a meeting she needs to attend in the Royal Castle. When she arrives, Zelena poofs away and both Henry's take their mom into the main hall area, where she finds an audience full of people. Snow White and Prince David reveal that the people of the United Realms have elected Regina to be their ruler. Regina accepts, but notices Emma and Killian are not here, to which Snow tells her that their baby was fussy. However, just as Snow is about to crown Regina, Emma and Killian arrive with their newborn, Hope, which interrupts the ceremony. As Emma gets Henry to hold his baby sister and help his father, Snow gets their attention and asks if they can continue the ceremony. Emma apologises to her mother for interrupting and Regina is crowned Queen of the United Realms. The family congratulates Regina on her new title and Emma calls her Madam Mayor, to which Killian refers to Regina with the title she now has; "Your Majesty", while Emma tells her husband that Regina will always be madame mayor to her no matter what. Emma celebrates that Regina finally got her happy ending. However, Regina tells Emma that this is not an ending, but in fact a new beginning. She then makes a speech about how her life and that there will always be happiness and sadness in life, but those are what make people who they are. In response, the crowd gives a round of applause to their new queen.
On May 5, 2013, during the episode "Second Star to the Right", Queen Regina appeared in a commercial promoting New Fantasyland. During it, she mused over how she would change the stories of the new arrivals. At the end of the commercial, she sees a girl dressed like the classical Disney Snow White and says "Seriously?"
