Won the Principal’s List Award
I added the principal's list award in my achievements section, because even though it is a common award,
it was my first achievement in my new school. At the start of last year I was new to this school and this
country but throughout the year I worked hard and got this award. This award was not very challenging as I
just had to get good grades for it, but one challenge that I faced at the beginning of the year was adapting
to a new system of learning and education. After achieving this, I got the motivation to work even harder
this year and achieve better grades. I hope that I achieve this award again.
Got My First Real Job
When I came to this country with my family, my father started a new business and needed some help, that is how I got
my first real job. Even though it was more of a help to my Dad and I did not earn anything but I got excited by the fact
that I worked somewhere. It was a great learning experience for me and I understood many new things about customer
service. Besides being my first real job, this job is also important to me because it showed my parents that I could be
responsible enough to get an actual job. It signified the fact that I had grown up and could handle my fair share of
responsibilities. It was full of challenges for me, one of the major ones being that I had to work with other people, even if
I didn't like them, it taught me about work ethic and patience. This job was more of learning experience rather than a
work experience but I really gained a lot of new knowledge and awareness from it. I wish
to work more in the future, especially in customer service because it helps me with my
interpersonal skills and teamwork.
Moved Across The World with My Family
I moved to Canada on July 20,2019 from India with my family. Moving here was a huge deal for us, my
parents had been trying for this opportunity since nearly four years. This achievement is not really a
professional achievement but more of a personal one. It is important to me because it signified my
growth as as individual as well as a member of a family. Throughout the time I have spent here, I have
changed a lot. When I first came to Canada, I was scared of going to a new school and making friends
all over again, it felt like the first day of kindergarten but thankfully, I overcame my insecurities and met
some amazing people. The biggest challenge about moving to a new country is adapting to its
surroundings, when my family and I moved into our new place, I felt stuck at home because I didn't get
to go outside as frequently as I did previously. This challenge though a big one, was short lived because
after walking around the neighbourhood a few times, I got used to it. However, the process of completely
adapting to my surroundings is still not over, especially due to the current pandemic. I hope that I continue to grow and transform for the
better and not the worse.
