Reflection of Taare Zaamen Par

Taare Zaamen Par is a heart-touching movie that follows Ishaan, a child with disabilities who is treated as stupid by his family and peers. His teacher, Ram Nikumbh, recognizes Ishaan's talent for painting and uses unconventional teaching methods to boost Ishaan's confidence and improve his performance in school. “Taare Zaamen Par”

I first watched Taare Zaamen Par back in 2013 I guess at the Audio-Visual Room in our school
as part of our movie reflection too. From the beginning up to the end, I can’t hold back my tears
from every emotional scene. I decided to watch it again to relieve the moments of Ishaan as
special child and his teacher Ram Nikumbh for a better and meaningful reflection.

It is and will always be a heart touching movie. It became an eye-opener to all the parents, peers
and teachers of a certain child who behaves differently from a normal one. Ishaan, a child who
dislikes school and fails every test. He finds everything difficult to understand so everyone treats
him as the “stupid one”. Without everyone’s knowing, his mind is rich with wonders that he can
convey it through his paintings. Unrecognized and treated poorly leads to lack of his self-esteem,
all his artistic desires suppress by the feeling of being left behind by his own family. And then
one moment, a teacher named Ram Nikumbh gets appointed as a temporary art teacher, unlike
any other teachers who follow the traditional norms in educating children, he let the children go
beyond their imagination without limiting and clouding their own thoughts and ideas. He noticed
Ishaan’s negative response to the activity so he find ways to understand his behavior. Upon
knowing his disability, he tried to convince the parents to understand how difficult it is for their
child to bear his disability on his own. Through his patience, care and love to Ishaan, he succeeds
in boosting his confidence. He improved in all the subjects he failed before. And he returns to his
passion which is painting with enthusiasm.

As a teacher, it is important to facilitate the development of their unique characteristics and other
abilities to its full capacity rather than correcting their disturbed behaviors. Instead of criticizing
them, we should support and love them like any normal being. All can be treated fairly without
being judged by their behavior but with better understanding of it. Praising their efforts over the
result is a one positive reinforcement for a child with a learning difficulty. Positive recognition
makes them strives for a much better result. By encouraging and highlighting their strengths, we
can be able to counteract the negative impact of their learning problems. For as long as we help
one another in developing and nurturing their needs, we can be able to create an environment for
them where they can be accepted like any others.
