I. MOVIE SUMMARY
Awasthi, Nandkishore and his wife, Maya had two sons, Yohaan and Ishaan. Their
sons attend the same school where Yohan is an exemplary scholar and athlete, excels
in his studies, but Ishaan does the opposite. Ishaan Awasthi, an eight-year-old kid
filled with joy and imagination is having a hard time with his life. His parents are more
focused in Ishaan brother who is much smarter. They just don’t seem to appreciate
Ishaan’s talent in creativity and art. Ishaan is also having a hard time in coping up in
school, he just can’t even read nor write. The letters he sees are moving and when
he writes, his letters and numbers are sometimes inverted. Because of his difficulties
in school and family, he became depressed and confused.
His parents then decided to move him to a new school that will teach him better and
far away from home, which, they did not know that will make Ishaan is having a hard
time coping and adjusting and his only stress reliever is through painting. Out of the
blue, Ram Shankar Nikumbh, a new art teacher came to the scene that defies
traditionally practiced teaching. He set his students on hype fire encouraging them
to use their imagination.
He noticed Ishaan and his difficulties. He discovered that Ishaan’s mistakes are
because that he has dyslexia, a disorder that involves difficulty in learning to read or
interpret words, letters, and others symbols, but that do not affect general
intelligence. – google Ram reminisced his past as he also has the same problem as
Ishaan before. He decided to help the kid.
While observing Ishaan, Ram noticed the kid’s talent in art. He realized the kid’s
potential. Ram came to visit Ishaan’s family and explained to them the kid’s problem
why he is different. His parents were ashamed of themselves not knowing their son’s
potential. Ram helped the kid read and write properly, they made a great bond
together. Ram approached the school’s principal to have an event of painting to show
the school that Ishaan is not what they seem to think he is. On the event, Ishaan is
faced off with different artist in school including his very own mentor, Ram.
When the decision came to whom won the eyes and hearts of the judges. He is tied
with his teacher Ram, but only one should be the winner. And that someone is no
other than mentor which made him, Ram, and his family very happy and proud.
Ishaan’s victory helps him find himself which made him a better person in school,
family and community. His grades became higher and personality improved and made
him a very smart and happy child.
The movie tells us that children are like stars on earth, they are all special in their
own ways.
II. MOVIE REVIEW
A. Story Plot
The movie started with Ishaan’s flunking grades and him being perceived as lazy
and a troublemaker. He doesn’t seem to answer questions or examinations right and
doesn’t seem to read properly when he’s being called to do so. Because of this, he’s
being called out of class by his teachers. Ishaan may be doing bad academically, but
in his home, you get to see his artworks: drawing on the walls, paintings on papers
and other creative outputs – he’s a gifted child with artistic talents.
One day, Ishaan had cut his classes without parental consent and went roaming
around the city alone. He rode transportations alone, ate alone, and wandered the
streets by himself. He loved it so much that he convinced his older brother, who’s
way smarter than him academically, to write him a letter that excuses him from
class. The next day he showed it to his teacher and she let him go. His father found
out about it and, just like how any parents would react, he got mad at him. The next
day, his parents were in the school office with the principal and teachers, telling
them how he’s behaving in class and his academic status. The principal, then, told
them that they may not accept Ishaan anymore, and that there are special schools
out there that may help him for his betterment, since Ishaan have already repeated
many times the grade that he’s in and nothing seemed to have changed. His father
decided to enroll him in boarding school, though in disagreement with his mom and
brother. He was left there alone with the other students with their parents not
around. The same thing happened to him, he’s being laughed at and bullied by his
classmates and even by his teachers.
One time, during his art class, though he’s very good with arts, he didn’t do anything
when they were told to paint. He started getting uninspired doing things because of
what his family have done to him. His teacher, Ram, later on noticed that Ishaan
never did art in his class. He also heard from other people in the faculty that Ishaan
is doing really bad academically and they were laughing at him, and that was the
start of him getting curious about might be wrong with Ishaan. He started observing
him and looked through his notebooks from other classes to figure out why he is
behaving badly. Later on, he came to a conclusion that Ishaan might have disorder,
which is dyslexia.
Ram visited Ishaan’s house and discovered how talented Ishaan was artistically. He
also let Ishaan’s parents know about his condition, and that it needs attention. Ram
told them that he would open – heartedly help Ishaan to cope with his disorder. Ram
have patiently helped Ishaan with his reading disorder and learning difficulty, which
was visible on the next event when Ishaan was starting to do good not only arts but
his academics. Ram helped him a lot and changed his life forever. At the end, there
was an art competition held around the campus and Ishaan won, and he was really
grateful to Ram for all the things he had done for him to be in that place.

E. Film Quality
The movie is very encouraging and informative. It imparts morals values not just
for teachers but for parents and school administrators as well. It taught us to be
nonjudgmental to children’s behavior, because everything happens for a reason.
Some may say that life is unfair, that’s what the child in the story would also say
until he met someone with a very caring heart.
For teachers, it teaches us to consider and understand the individual differences of
our learners. Every child is unique. We have to bear in mind that every child has
their own capabilities, their own desires, and their own dreams. Inflicting physical
and emotional punishments to children who failed to meet our expectations doesn’t
do any good for the development of the child. We have to be every flexible and
expect that not all students or pupils are toppers in academic matters. Some may
excel in other field of interest. It is the teacher’s role to find out the strength and
weaknesses of their students and to help the students enhancing their strengths as
well as in overcoming their weaknesses just like what the teacher in the movie did.
Ram noticed the in difference of his pupil, Ishaan, along with the unusual behavior
towards his studies. So, what he did was to get to know the background of Ishaan.
He exerted time and effort in visiting Ishaan’s family just to find out the cause of the
problem, why Ishaan acts that way. That’s what teachers are supposed to do. We
have to embrace the child’s whole world, and that includes his family and community
because the family and community are important factors that can influence the
child’s behavior.
F. Message
The movies show a very inspiring story. It also gives an awareness to the viewer of
what Ishaan had or what was his condition. The end part of a movie conveys,
patience, and care.
Our society today is not the society that people would want to be in if they had
realized it. People are so quick to judge when you are out of what they perceive is
normal. Normal people these days are skinny and flawless girls, and muscular and
good-looking guys. If you’re chubby, you’re being laughed at. If you prefer the same
sex, you’re being criticized. If you’re sick, instead of people helping you cope with it,
they bring you down.
Every child is especial, I agree, and might I just add, all of us are special. We may
be different from each other in different aspects but there is surely something within
all of us that falls under the term ‘special’. That something special is what makes us
unique and defines us who we are. Ishaan maybe special in a different way, but
people have to perceive that his disorder is just a disorder, and people have to
overlook it. instead, people should start noticing what’s special about everyone – it
may be the talents, skills, personality, and what not.
People like Ishaan did not ask for disability, they were given that because they were
believed to be strong enough to handle it, and that’s what people should look at
rather than looking down on him because he isn’t ‘normal’ and not acting ‘normal.’

IV. MOVIE ON MOVE
A. Which movie made the greatest impact on you as a learner/future teacher? As a person? Justify your
answer.
We future teachers to be, plays an important role to our students, the movie
(Every child is especial) serve as an eye – opener for me. The kind of relationship
we established to our students affects them on what they will become. We teachers
must have patience, love, care, kindness and must aware of their intellectual,
physical, and emotional condition, because without this, they may feel being
unwanted and unworthy that will lead to their failures.
We teachers must have a character that shows not only effective, efficient but also
great teacher that has good qualities and teachers that does not only teach but
inspire as well. A teacher that has a strong potential to teach and to help student
to excel. A teacher that uses a positive approach and deal the students concerns.
This movie helps me to understand the uniqueness of everyone, it is our task
teachers on how to deal learners with different kind of intelligence.
We teachers should help a child in very way they can. We should look into child’s
potentials as learner and what motivates a child and what does not. Sometimes,
we are blinded by our strict rules in attaining academic requirements, that we fail
to see the worth of a person. We teachers to be must have a strong desire to make
difference in the lives of our students.
