The Final Smash (JP) is an attack that can be used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It is a "secret skill" that has different effects for its different users, but it can only be activated after a player breaks a Smash Ball. Due to their activation, Final Smashes can effectively replace the Standard Special.
According to the game's director Masahiro Sakurai, Final Smashes were intended to be in the Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64. They had even recorded the voices that would be used in the attacks. However, like many things, it was taken out, probably for limits on the Nintendo 64's hardware.
Types[]
There are five basic types of Final Smash. These types vary depending on their range. Directional Final Smashes affect the area that is in front of their user, such as Mario's Mario Finale. Focused Final Smashes radiate outward from their user, such as Donkey Kong's Konga Beat. Trapping Final Smashes trap characters and deal lots of damage, but their range is limited. An example is Captain Falcon's, Blue Falcon. Stage-wide Final Smashes can hit the stage's entirety, depending on their user's choice. One example is Ness and Lucas's PK Starstorm in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Transformation Final Smashes give their user stronger forms, such as Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Wolf O'Donnell's Landmaster in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4 and Bowser's Giga Bowser. Certain Final Smashes combine two or more types. Fox McCloud's Team Star Fox (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), Wolf O'Donnell's Team Star Wolf (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), Link's Triforce Slash, Incineroar's Max Malicious Moonsault, and Ren Amimaya's All-Out Attack combine the Directional and Trapping types.

He then returns with his teammates, shooting down the captive enemy. | Falco usually says, "Time for a little payback", but switches his quote to "We've got multiple bogeys inbound!" if he catches at least two targets. Replaced his old Final Smash, which had him summon his own Landmaster Tank. |
Marth | Critical Hit | Directional/Trapping | Marth raises his Exalted Falchion and dashes forward, sending the first foe to cross him flying.
