Xenoblade Chronicles 3[]

Future Redeemed[]

Rex is one of the six playable characters in the Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed DLC. At some point he met Shulk and fought alongside him and Z against Alpha as he planned to destroy the world and save only those from the City. They lost, however, with Rex losing his left eye as a result. Rex and Shulk eventually became the leader of the Liberators, based in Colony 9.

Rex first appears as Consul W attempts to kill Glimmer and Nikol with a laser. He and Shulk take them, Matthew, and A back to Colony 9.

After encountering Alpha-possessed Na'el, Rex and Shulk plan to head to Origin to confront Alpha. Glimmer and Nikol request to accompany them, but Rex (who is Glimmer's father, unbeknownst to her) denies them. After they are bested in combat, Rex reverses his decision and allows the two to come along.

In Origin, Rex and the rest of the party are temporarily transported to a memory of the past world. After this, they confront Alpha and defeat him. But as Ontos was the core processor of Origin, it needs a replacement to be sustained. Rex, Shulk, and A tell the others they will act as this replacement core, promising to meet again someday. Before they do, Rex and Shulk give life force to Glimmer and Nikol respectively, allowing them to live beyond the terms allocated by the Flame Clock system.

After the completion of both Future Redeemed and the main story, the player can unlock Rex and Shulk as heroes by completing one of the challenge battles.

Main story[]

Rex appears at the end of the game, where he is pictured alongside the rest of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 main cast. The picture implies that he fathered seperate children with Mythra, Pyra, and Nia. Glimmer is implied to be Pyra's daughter, while Mio is implied to be Nia's. The identity of Mythra's child is unknown.

He is also depicted in a statue in the City, built to represent him instead of his student Linka.

Rex Mii Costume

Rex's Mii Costume.

Rex appears as a Mii costume for the Mii Swordfighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the DLC fighter pack. Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the series also precised that they added him as a Mii costume because they were unable to make him a fighter since the design of the character was finalised after the final roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was decided. Rex is also featured as an Ace Primary Spirit and as such, he can be used to customize playable characters.

Rex also appears in Pyra and Mythra's moveset, assisting during their Final Smash. He also appears in some of their taunts.
