Incineroar (JP) is a Pokémon in the series of the same name. It is a dual-type Fire/Dark Pokémon that made its first appearance in the seventh generation games Pokémon Sun and Moon. It is the final evolution of Litten. It is also appears as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Physiology and Behavior[]
Incineroar is a bipedal, feline Pokémon with a muscular build. It has a short snout with a small red nose, bright green eyes with yellow sclerae, and tiny, pointed ears. Large tufts of red fur extend from its cheeks, and much of its face is also red. The upper half of its muzzle and the top and back of its head are black. A thin red stripe runs vertically along its head to its snout, where it splits into a V-shape over its eyes. Its torso is gray with several black stripes and seems to resemble a wrestler tank-top; the front and back both have a single vertical stripe up the center, crossed by two horizontal lines. Around Incineroar's waist is a belt formed from flames that somewhat resembles a championship wrestling belt. In the front center is a small, yellow flame shape. The arms, legs, and tail are all red with black stripes forming bands around them. The arms have three stripes, spiky tufts of black fur over the shoulders, and large five-fingered hands with white claws and a single light red pad on the palm. Its legs have only two stripes and simple three-toed paws, and the tail has one stripe and a tuft of spiky black fur around the tip.
Incineroar's flame belt is produced from within its body and burst from its navel and waist as its fighting spirit rises. In addition to spewing fire from its navel, it uses ferocious kicks and punches. This Pokémon disregards the safety of its opponents and on-lookers, sometimes striking the opposing Trainer with attacks. It is a violent Pokémon, and will sometimes ignore its Trainer's orders when it is not in the mood to listen. Despite this, it finds fighting unworthy opponents boring and gets motivated fighting a challenging one. Weak or injured opponents also cause it to lose the desire to fight, which others sometimes use to their advantage.
It also values the attention of the crowd as Incineroar's spirit goes up while the crowd is excited or falters when the crowd is bored. When Incineroar's fighting spirit rises, so does the temperature around its navel waist. While it tends to act like a heel, Incineroar is very happy internally when receiving the admiration of children or young Pokémon. It is also willing to help out children and small Pokémon, further showing its hidden soft side.

Incineroar in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Incineroar makes its debut in the Super Smash Bros. series as a newcomer in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, being the last fighter in the base roster. It plays like a heavy grappler with his moves being slow but powerful. Incineroar is currently the slowest fighter in the entire Super Smash Bros. series. Its specials include:
- Neutral Special - Darkest Lariat
- Side Special - Alolan Whip
- Up Special - Cross Chop
- Down Special - Revenge
- Final Smash - Max Malicious Moonsault

Its Japanese voice actor, Unsho Ishizuka provided the Japanese voice for Incineroar in Ultimate before his unexpected passing on August 13, 2018. Ishizuka recorded all of his voice clips for the game before his death.[1] Inexplicably, Incineroar's Japanese voice clips are much more muffled and lower in quality than other languages, especially given how they appear to be in a much higher quality in the Japanese version of its reveal trailer. This is likely because Ishizuka was not able to return for ADR before his passing, resulting in them having to use the voice clips in the way they originally were. Incineroar in Ultimate is Ishizuka's final voice acting role.
In the anime[]
Ash Ketchum's Incineroar
Incineroar made its anime debut in Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, under the ownership of Cross. It battled twice against Cross's former Charmeleon, which was now with Ash Ketchum; Incineroar emerged victorious in the first battle, but lost in the rematch when Charmeleon evolved into Charizard.
Incineroar made its mainline series debut in Pushing the Fiery Envelope!, under the ownership of the Masked Royal, who uses it for Battle Royal competitions. It developed a rivalry with Ash's Litten. Ash would later own an Incineroar after evolving from Torracat by defeating Professor Kukui's own Incineroar during the Manalo Conference exhibition match.
Origin[]
Incineroar is based on a tiger (like most Fire starters, being based on the Chinese zodiac) and heel wrestlers. It also has traits of domestic cats.
Incineroar is a combination of incinerate and roar.

Trivia[]
- Official confidential art featuring Decidueye, Incineroar, Primarina, and Mallow was leaked on the Internet on June 4, 2016. This leak happened 145 days before these Pokémon were officially revealed on October 27, 2016. From the leaked material, it is known that Incineroar's code name was "Tiger 3" during development.
- Incineroar is the only evolved form of a first partner Pokémon to have a lower base stat than its pre-evolved forms. Its base Speed stat is 30 points lower than Torracat's and 10 points lower than Litten's.
- Incineroar's original move and side special, Alolan Whip, is based on the Irish whip, a move in professional wrestling.
- Incineroar was largely added in because Masahiro Sakurai had never done a wrestling fighter before, and also because, as Pokémon Sun and Moon were nearing release at the time Ultimate was nearing the end of development, a character from that game was reserved for the remaining spot so Sakurai could have at least one character from a more recent game included. Because of this, Incineroar is the only non-DLC character in Ultimate to not be part of the original draft for the game written on December 2015. Both Incineroar and Decidueye were considered for inclusion in Ultimate, but the latter was passed over in favor of Incineroar owing to Sakurai wanting a unique combat style based around a wrestler.
- All of Incineroar's moves are Physical attacks. This makes it the only Pokémon whose moves are all under one Damage category. While Ivysaur's Specials are also Physical, it uses Solar Beam for its Final Smash.
- After Pichu, Incineroar is the second playable Pokémon to possess only types shared with previously-introduced Pokémon fighters, due to Fire and Dark already being represented by Charizard and Greninja, respectively.
- Incineroar is the second Fire-type Pokémon to be playable in Super Smash Bros. series, after Charizard. It is also the second Dark-type Pokémon in the roster, after Greninja.
- Incineroar is also the third fully-evolved First partner Pokémon in the series, after Charizard and Greninja.
- Incineroar is the only one of Ash's Fire-type first partner Pokémon to never have known Flamethrower.
- Incineroar is the only Fire-type first partner Pokémon Ash has caught who has not suffered some level of neglect or mistreat by a human prior to its capture.
- Incineroar is the most recent First partner Pokémon that Ash has caught in the anime.
