The Nintendo Switch.
2017 was a big year for Nintendo, with the Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 2DS XL (a revision of the 3DS without the 3D as well as the sixth and last model in the family), releasing as well as Nintendo delving further into mobile games. Some Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games were also made. The Wii U was discontinued the same year.

- Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King was released on January 20 in North America and Europe.
- The Wii U was discontinued in Japan on January 31.
- Nintendo's third mobile title, Fire Emblem Heroes was released on iOS and Android on February 2.
- The Nintendo Switch was released in Japan, North America, Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong on March 3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the first Zelda game to be an open world since the first 1986 Zelda game was also released on this day.
- Monster Hunter XX released on March 18 in Japan.
