Rayman Legends is a game in the Rayman series for the Wii U. It is a sequel to 2011's Rayman Origins. Originally, the game was supposed to be a near launch exclusive for the console, but delays led to it being ported to other consoles.
In September 2017, a port for the Nintendo Switch, titled Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition released. The main addition was expansions to the Kung-Foot multiplayer mode.
Plot[]
Rayman, Globox, and the Teensies have slept undisturbed for a long time. During this time, the nightmares of the Sogna bubbles have risen (as the creator of the world makes nightmares become real) and ready to disseminate chaos and destruction. Moreover, it turns out that Ales Mansay (antagonist of Rayman Origins) has survived and split in five parts.
The Bubble Dreamer, therefore, asks Murphy to wake up our heroes so they can help stop these new threats; They will have to open the way through different worlds that blend stories of myth and legend, the entrance of which is a painting that represents them, to save all teens and princesses abducted, as well as to stop the 5 Dark Teens ready to avenge themselves.
Gameplay[]
Rayman Legends is, like its predecessor, a horizontal slider platform game, consisting of seven zones to explore scanned from a number of levels (whose ambitions are a hybrid between 2D and 3D) connected to each other.
Once you have defeated all the enemies and released the Teens imprisoned on each level, you reach the penultimate level where there will be a boss to face, and the last one is a musical level whose actions of the character match the rhythm of the soundtrack.
Teens allow you to unlock new worlds and bonus activities. Rayman can collect lumens scattered around the levels, allowing you to unlock new characters and earn trophies by increasing the level of Myths.

Development[]
The game was revealed on April 27, 2012, when a trailer leaked to a French gaming website. The trailer showed off an improved render engine, new playable characters, new local and online multiplayer modes, social gaming attributes, and some of the different ways the game will take advantage of the features the Wii U controller has to offer including it's touchscreen and NFC capabilities.
The trailer showed that by placing various figures on the controller's touchscreen, different effects would take place in game. For example placing a heart-shaped figure on the screen results in hearts falling from the sky in game. It also demonstrated a Rabbid figure unlocking a Rabbid-filled level. The trailer ended by showing a figure of an Assassin's Creed protagonist, suggesting there would be some kind of content from that series in the game.[1] However, Ubisoft later acknowledged the leak and stressed "This video was intended as a purely internal demonstrative video, and in NO way represents the final game, the final console or their features."[2]
Reception[]
Rayman Legends received universal acclaim upon release across all the consoles it was releases on, with the Wii U version getting an especially high score of 92 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 35 reviews. Much praise went to the game's visual presentation, level design, controls, soundtrack, overall gameplay, and the large amount of content in general. When it received a port for the Nintendo Switch, it received a similarly high score of 84 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 35 reviews.
Sales[]
While the game's sales were considered sluggish initially, it still sold one million units by November 2013, and was confirmed by Ubisoft themselves to be contributing well to the company's earnings just over a year later.
