Runbow is a racing platform game developed by 13AM Games originally for the Wii U eShop. It can feature up to 8 players supporting the Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Classic Controller, and Wii U Pro Controller on top of the Gamepad. It has a retail release from Nighthawk Interactive called the Deluxe Edition. The New Nintendo 3DS version was released in 2017 as Runbow Pocket.

Gameplay[]

Runbow is a multiplayer-focused platformer where the players compete to grab a trophy at the end of the level. Players can run, jump and attack with aiming it can give the player extra distance. The player can perform up to two attacks in the air on top of jumping.

The main gimmick of this game is the changing colors. If a platform is the same color as the current background, it doesn't work. The color is changing regularly.

Colormaster[]

This is a Wii U exclusive mode with one player controlling the color via the gamepad and the rest racing to the finish as if it was the standard mode. The Colormaster also can use power-ups to that can stun the players, reverse their controls and place bombs on their path. The Colormaster gains points when no one finishes while the players win when at least one finishes. The game goes through a certain amount of rounds before deciding who wins based on points.

Reception[]

The Wii U and Switch versions received "generally favorable" reviews from critics according to Metacritic with a current Metascore of 82/100 and 79/100 respectively.

3DS eShop Descripton[]

Runbow Pocket is a fast, frantic game where you can conquer over 145 levels in Adventure and The Bowhemoth, or go head to head in Run, Arena, and King of the Hill online. The world changes with each swipe of colour, so you'll have to stay on your toes as platforms and obstacles disappear.
