I rewatched the original Gladiator the other day and while it helped me remember what an absolute gem it is, I feared it would sabotage the impending sequel. I still do prefer the original as I believe it is one of the best films ever made but this is an excellent follow up. Every single actor is firing on all cylinders and everyone perfectly complements each other.
I get some of the negative reviews a little bit because you do feel some of that modern day Ridley Scott stench at times but do I love this movie. Films like this are the reason why movie theaters exist, Gladiator 2 needs to be seen on the biggest and loudest screen possible and then seen again because thats how incredible it is.
