Yeah fuck the negative ratings on this, because this was everything I could've hoped for and more. An absolute beast of a film, with Ridley Scott surprisingly in top form. It faces the impossible task of living up to the legendary first film but ultimately manages to stand on its own two feet, thanks in part to Paul Mescal’s star-making performance and of course Denzel Washington, who naturally reminds us all why he’s always been regarded as in a league of his own. An incredibly well-done sequel and one I’m likely to watch again.
