]]>This was a tough watch. Nickel Boys was an experience that’s quite hard to forget, the journey was bleak, emotional and a bit poignant. I didn’t know this was based on a book, it’s always difficult to translate the raw nature of a book into a film, this one tried it’s best in managing that. The cinematography here was spectacular, the unique approach this film uses takes time to sink in initially but becomes immersive as the story progresses. The direction was great and the performances were amazing. But where the film fell flat for me is the pacing and the lack of emotional impact for the characters. Though every characters leaves an impact, I still felt emotionally distant to all of them. The film clocking at 140 minutes was quite exhausting, it meanders a lot with nothing important to convey. Still for it’s exceptional cinematography and the shocking story, it’s worth a watch. Absolutely devastating!
]]>God I really needed this! A nonsensical fun film that was largely entertaining. The biggest asset of this one was Jim Carrey as expected. As usual, every muscle in his body was doing something. Nobody can come close to the physical and facial comedy Carrey does. I’m pretty sure he improvised most of his jokes and what fun that was, he was hilarious. Absolutely loved Keanu as Shadow, kickass character. His introduction was awesome. I kind of liked the painful backstory he had,it was quite emotional. Team Sonic were a blast. The corny dialogues, the dumb problems, the dumber human characters and the wildly predictable story was bothering but I came for Jim Carrey and he delivered, so I’m happy!
]]>Wanted to start the year with an underrated heartfelt comedy and this was it. This film has one of the best Florence Pugh performances ever, she was so good. A lovely character that’s quite tough to portray but she killed it. Her brother character played by Jack Lowden was amazing as well. Nick and Lena had a crackling chemistry here, they were hilarious and chaotic. Rock’s cameo was a lot of fun and Vince Vaughn was great as usual. It’s your usual underdog story but it’s beautiful and crafted effectively. Stephen Merchant’s writing and direction was great, love that guy. Great film, check it out if you haven’t.
]]>What a perfect film to end this year. This one broke my heart. A charged emotional drama that took me through a whirlwind of joy and sadness. It’s heartbreaking how we don’t care much about the people who loves us the most, we might be ignorant or we might not understand their form of love. Sometimes lack of expressing our feelings can also lead to distance and pain for each other. How money has become the most important aspect of everyone’s life that one forgets what stays with them till the end. I’m not saying money isn’t important but without unconditional love from another person, life can be difficult. It can be love from a mother, father, son, daughter, grandkids, grandparents, girlfriend or wife, boyfriend or a husband, in-laws, cousins or nephews, a friend, a pet or anyone for that matter, nothing gives you peace as unconditional love does. In this film, it’s about a lovely Grandma and the complex relationship she shares with her family during her final few months, especially with her grandson. The performances were brilliant. One of the best films of the year! Must watch.

Happy New Year 🎆🎊🎈 wonderful people!
This was a 90 minutes gripping thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end despite knowing what’s going to happen. The script here is air tight, not a second feels wasted. Powered by brilliant performances and riveting direction, the film kept my attention intact. John Magaro once again gives a great performance, Leonie Benesch is becoming one of my favorite actresses, great character and she was fantastic. Peter Sarsgaard was brilliant. The rest of the cast did a great job as well. The chaos, the shocking revelations, the mistakes, the little joy and the devastation inside the ABC studio in Munich on that fateful day was effectively crafted. The editing was exceptional. Liked the score that played in the end, the film has almost no music in it till the end. Solid stuff!

]]>Not able to go and see Nosferatu in theaters for some time due a small accident so decided to rewatch this. The first time I saw this six years ago, I thought this was okay but now I really liked it. Anya and Ralph gave fantastic performances, they were too good. The little boy was brilliant too. The production design and cinematography looked gorgeous and bleak. Eggers direction had this sense of eerie darkness that just consumes every bit of joy in the atmosphere. The movie starts with a horrifying sequence and ends with a gut wrenching sequence and in between there is nothing but absolute pain and misery. So yeah this was quite a unsettling experience. The pacing was a issue and there was little emotional impact for the characters.Loved the score.Great film!

]]>I didn’t know I’ll be seeing a film about Odysseus just days after Nolan announcing it as his next project. While the Nolan film adapts the brilliant Homer’s Odyssey in it’s entirety, this film focuses on what happened to Odysseus after he reached Ithaca, the last sections of Odyssey.
The biggest asset of this film was Ralph Fiennes. He was exceptional here, be it his brute physicality, his dreaded weary eyes or his building rage, Fiennes was damn good here. The film is gripping whenever it focuses on him. Juliette Binoche was amazing as well, a commanding screen presence despite being vulnerable for the most of the runtime. Charlie Plummer was good, hated his character but he was good. I love Homer’s Odyssey and this was a decent adaptation but as a film the pacing was a bit excruciating at times, it was too gentle. But the immensely satisfying final 20 minutes was great. A nice surprise, can’t wait to see what Nolan does with this!
]]>Finally got around to watching this and it was a blast. It’s such a joy to see passionate filmmakers with their limited budget give their best to tell a story that is good. The effort that went into making this film was inspiring. This was a hilarious cartoonish movie that was madly entertaining. The kind of shits our lead character goes through in this film was outrageously funny. The slapstick approach worked perfectly for me. The beavers and some more animals were hilarious. The romantic angle was cute, freaky but cute. Every frame is filled with passion, I couldn’t help but be blown away by this film. Loved it!

]]>This was quite fun. Got a good amount of laughs from me. Jaeden and Julian’s relationship in this film was good, they were a fun duo. Kyle Mooney’s performance was greater than his direction, dude was hilarious as the stoner. Rachel Zegler was okay, not her best performance but she was fine. The film takes inspiration from a lot of films, some were enjoyable but some were just lazy. Nothing special but it’s a harmless one time watch.

]]>This was a tight knit thriller that was beautifully shot, perfectly paced and had some amazing performances. It was so good to see Jude Law, he was brilliant here, a towering presence and his portrayal of a dreadful character filled with vengeance was great. What a fantastic year Nicholas Hoult has been having, he was exceptional here. A sinister character who is calm and composed and Hoult brought the darkness of his character through his eyes. Taylor Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett and Alison Oliver were outstanding as well. Justin Kurzel’s direction was really good, especially in those chasing and robbery sequences. Wished the writers explored the characters personal lives and psyche a bit more but other than that this was a riveting experience!

]]>I mean how can I find issues with this cute movie. Wallace and Gromit are back once again and how fun that was. This iconic duo was chaotic, stupid, lucky, smart and adorable. The writing here was very clever, right from certain character’s name, meta jokes, plot points and the staging, everything was quite brilliant. The film was hilarious, some jokes got big laughs from me. And of course, Feathers McGraw is back baby, he was witty, cunty and wicked. Dude is one of the coolest villains ever, his every move here was iconic. I don’t know if you guys noticed, but every time Wallace said “EH” with a weird tone, I was dying, it was goddamn funny! My favorite animated film of the year!

]]>I knew I loved this film when I first saw it in 2019 but this rewatch made me realize that this is easily one of my favorite Christmas themed film of all time. It’s insane how many amazing films came out in 2019. Klaus is a magically beautiful tale about kindness and hope. I can’t quite describe the feeling this film gave me, I was happy and sad for some reason. The way the story unfolds and the characters evolve were joyful to witness. The animation here was stunning. But it’s the heartfelt story that just made this an instant classic. The humor in this worked so well, so many hilarious moments. The final shot made me tear up, a lovely conclusion. A wonderful film that just gets everything right! Masterpiece.
Merry Christmas Everyone 🎄🎅

]]>No matter how many times I see this film it always manages to put a big smile on my face. The innocent story, the sugary charm, the joyful feeling, the absurdly cute comedy and the complete conviction in the unbelievable tale makes Elf an all time classic. That Peter Dinklage scene had me jumping from my seat, hilarious stuff. My favorite Will Ferrell performance. James Caan was sweet and Zoey Deschanel was an angel, loved her character. The climax was beautiful. One of my all time favorite Christmas film!
Happy Christmas Eve dear people🎄

]]>I found a new Christmas classic! I’ve been wanting to see this one for the longest time so I finally checked it out. This was an absolute blast! I’m not a big fan of Bill Murray, I find him annoying and lazy. Thankfully he was great here. My personal dislike for Murray worked in favor of his character. He was hilarious here, that hammering line had me dying. My heart always skips a beat when I see Karen Allen on screen and she was beautiful and lovely here. The past and present ghosts were a lot of fun, especially the present ghost, she was outrageously funny. The story has so much heart and warmth to it despite it’s cold set up and the ending was immensely satisfying. Loved it!

]]>It’s such a joy seeing an old school type of film that just gets everything right. The story of this film is something most of us might have seen in some form in few films but if the characters are compelling, the emotions are on point and if the screenplay is perfect, it’s going to be great experience and this film was a fantastic journey that I’ll never forget.
Technically this film was epic, the production design, the direction, the editing and the cinematography, everything was pitch perfect. The film looked magnificent. The score was beautiful, it brilliantly assisted this riveting tale.
The performances were masterful, Pierre Niney was amazing, such a powerful character and he was great. Anamaria Vartalomei was extraordinary, her eyes conveyed so much pain. Pierfrancesco Favino was great as usual, little screen time but highly impactful. The rest of the cast was phenomenal too. I can’t stress enough how much I loved this film, the three hour runtime just flew by. One of the best films of the year.

]]>This turned out to be way better than I expected. The story was actually good. The conflict and stakes had depth. The character dynamics were exciting. The songs were enjoyable, not memorable but it was fun to hear( the brother song and bye bye song were my favorite ). The visual effects were obviously stunning. The voice performances were amazing. But the live action appeal still doesn’t sit well with me. The emotions didn’t feel real and there was no soul in the visuals. The score was fantastic. It’s definitely a fun time at the theaters, nothing more. Kids will have a wonderful time. Would have been so much better if this was 2D or 3D animated.

]]>Rarely a film portrays marriage in such a raw way like Loveable did. The emotional journey this film took me through was quite heartbreaking. The relationship between Maria and Sigmund is something most of us would have seen happen in some form. The way the story slowly reveals the cracks and pain in our characters lives, it was devastating. This one impacted me in a big way, brilliantly acted, beautifully crafted and left me completely satisfied. Loved the ending. Helga Guren deserves all the awards. One of the best films of the year!

]]>I had no clue what this film was about, so when I watched the story unfold here, it was heartbreaking. First I have to say this, there is something so comforting and impactful watching Cillian Murphy perform. Before Oppenheimer I loved his performances, been championing him for a long time but I don’t know what happened after Oppenheimer, there is this sense of warmth I feel when he’s on screen, especially in a film like this. He was phenomenal here, he completely carries the film.
The pace is slow but some amazing small moments and the protagonist’s dreaded situation made me sink into the cold setting and patiently wait for my questions to be answered. The flashback portions could have been executed better.
The direction was brilliant, the atmosphere was exceptionally captured. But the biggest asset that holds the entire film together was Cillian Murphy, it’s a must watch just for him.

]]>I’ll watch any film that has Jason Bateman in it. One of the most underrated actors, on par with Jon Bernthal. Bateman was awesome here, seems like he had a blast. But this was Taron Edgerton’s show all the way, he was fantastic. The film was largely engaging, it’s a cleverly structured well paced thriller that gets the job done. A fun watch if you’re bored.

]]>The shivers that went down my spine the moment I knew it was a true story was something I’ll never forget. This is a bleak film that handles some disturbing themes. The film is shot exceptionally, the direction by Magus von Horn was brilliant. The black and white cinematography by Michał Dymek looked stunning. The performances were great and the minimal score was unnerving. An arresting experience that blew me away!
]]>With the insane hype surrounding this film, I was getting worried that I might not like it. I kept my expectations as low as possible. But this film blew my mind in every possible way. I wasn’t expecting this film to be this funny. The entire second act had me dying with laughter. Every character does something unique and funny and it was hilarious. The first act was wild and cute, the two main characters relationship was smoothly explored. The final act was the definition of an heartbreaking ending, I figured it was going to end that way during the midpoint of the film but when it happened it was heavy nonetheless, perfect finish. Sean Baker’s direction was stunning, the film looked beautiful. Mikey Madison was a revelation, a towering screen presence, she was phenomenal. The three Russian guys killed it, spot on casting, an absolute riot. Igor needs to protected at all cost, loved that character. Watching this film with a packed audience was an unforgettable experience, a must watch!
]]>A moving tale about death, regrets, joy and hope. Almodovar’s poignant writing was beautiful, every scene was crafted with so much care. Both Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore were fantastic, especially the former with her outstanding portrayal of a dying woman. The film looked gorgeous, the colors were breezy and the production design was stunning. The film progresses at a gentle pace and it mostly works. The last 20 minutes was okay, that’s the only issue I had. The score was soothing. Loved it!

Some of the movies didn't work for me like it worked for some others (for example Moonlight and some more),so please don't mind them.
