Chibi Tiny Tales is a comedy short series featured on Disney Channel. Following Big Chibi 6: The Shorts, various Disney Channel shows and movies would follow suit in Chibi format. Sabrina Alberghetti directed the shorts.[1]
The series started airing on June 7, 2020, starring with one of the Disney Channel shows Amphibia. On October 4, 2020, Disney Channel uploaded As Told by Chibi featuring Halloweentown, a Disney Channel Original Movie that was the first film to be in Chibi format.
The shorts have very little spoken dialogue, with most of it being represented through vocal effects, such as grunts, laughs, screams, and occasional speech bubbles.
Starting from Halloweentown: As Told by Chibi onward, most of the vocal effects provided by the voice actors were replaced by generic stock sound effects (like characters exclaiming with car horns honking, school bells ringing, etc.) or occasionally cartoon sound effects from the Hanna-Barbera library and some Sound Ideas libraries, such as the squeaking sounds.
Following various shorts of Disney shows, they would get their own spin-off series called Chibiverse, premiering July 30, 2022 on Disney Channel.

- The animation for all chibi shorts was done using the traditional hand-drawn animation technique using pencil and paper then scanned digitally with digital color and ink by Rough Draft Korea in Seoul, South Korea[2].
- The first Phineas and Ferb short, and the seventh short overall, is a loose adaptation of the first episode.
- "Run Candace Run" shares the same name as an episode from Phineas and Ferb.
- It also marks the last Chibi Tiny Tales short to use vocal effects by the voice actors before being replaced by generic stock sound effects.
- Typically, each series has three Chibi Tiny Tales shorts (usually released consecutively), but there are a few exceptions:
- So far, the following series have more than three shorts: Amphibia (nine), Phineas and Ferb (four), Big City Greens (six), DuckTales (four), Moana (four), Zombies (four), and The Ghost and Molly McGee (six). Most of these typically only had three consecutive releases before more were added at a later point.

- They are also the only shorts to not feature the Chibi Tiny Tales logo.
- Moana is the first movie of the Disney Animated Canon to get a Chibi rendition. Its two follow ups were delayed due to the Zombies series having been leaked early in Portugal.[3]
- The Zombies short "Cheer Tryouts", The Ghost and Molly McGee shorts "Scratch Haunts" and "Molly's Haunted Mansion", the High School Musical short "Triple Date", the Phineas and Ferb short "Doof Falls for Gramma", and the Hamster & Gretel short "Rollercoaster Romance", feature some other characters in Chibi form in crossovers.
- "Rollercoaster Romance" includes a direct reference to "Doof Falls for Gramma", as one of the two couples in the Ferris wheel is Alice Green and Dr. Doofenshmirtz, the latter with heart eyes. The other couple, Luz Noceda and Amity Blight, could refer to The Owl House short "Lumity Date".
- The first The Ghost and Molly McGee short features the first chibi-fied appearance of any character from The Owl House, in this case King. It has been reported that Dana Terrace must give the network permission to use her characters for the shorts series.
- "Molly's Haunted Mansion" is the first Chibi rendition featuring an attraction from the Disney Parks.
- Huey, Dewey, and Louie's cameo in "Cheer Tryouts" marks the first time characters from a Disney Channel Original Movie interacted with classic Disney characters.
- "Scratch and Molly's third wheel" features the chibi versions of Darryl, Pete, Sharon, Geoff, Jeff, Alinda, and Ollie.
- Although there are no chibi versions of June, Ruben, Esther, and Leah yet.
- The short "Triple Date" features the first Chibi appearances of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
- The poster for the movie Ben and Mal want to watch resembles the final poster for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
- The short "Springtime for Mama Scratch" is a reference to the fictional musical in Mel Brooks' 1967 film The Producers: Springtime for Hitler.
- As the short "Happy Birthday, Disney Channel!" marks the return of many characters from earlier sitcoms and cartoons, it marks Lizzie McGuire's return in any new media since 2003, with the The Lizzie McGuire Movie being her final appearance (barring the episode order of the original series).
- Mrs. Kipling from Jessie is the only character to appear as (a real photo cutout version of) herself instead of a Chibi version as shown in "Happy Birthday, Disney Channel!".
- According to Chibiverse theme song, characters that will possibly be shown later in the series include, Star Butterfly, Marco Diaz, and Pony Head from Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Dipper Pines, Bill Cipher, and Grunkle Stan from Gravity Falls, and Rufus from Kim Possible. Other characters from Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Gravity Falls, and Kim Possible will likely also appear.
- The description on YouTube also mentions that Penny Proud from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will be coming, which likely means more characters from The Proud Family franchise might also appear.
- Episodes from Chibiverse also included Wander and Lord Hater from Wander Over Yonder, Big Time Beagle, the Demon Dog of Castle McDuck, Darkwing Duck, Lena Sabrewing, and Gizmoduck from DuckTales (2017), Diogee, Milo Murphy, and Zack Underwood from Milo Murphy's Law, the British dog man and Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls, Puff and Dijonay Jones from The Proud Family, Fu Dog from American Dragon: Jake Long, Bronx and Demona from Gargoyles, Phoenix from Big City Greens, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu from Amphibia, and Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable from Kim Possible. It is likely that other characters from Wander Over Yonder, Milo Murphy's Law, American Dragon: Jake Long, and Gargoyles might appear as well.
- The following Chibi Tiny Tales shorts were renamed in the Chibiverse episodes:

- "Breakfastland!" as a separate short was re-parsed as "Breakfast Land!", then re-parsed again as "Breakfast Land" in Chibiverse.
- This is currently the only series in which Mickey Mouse and the DuckTales-original characters have both appeared, though they have not yet shared the screen.
- Although the rebooted versions of the DuckTales characters appear in these shorts, the other Disney Afternoon characters who appear in "Happy Birthday, Disney Channel!" are based on their original designs.
- The flavors added to the cake in "Happy Birthday, Disney Channel" are "sugar", "spice", and "nice", each one with the colors blue, green, and pink. This is a reference to Cartoon Network's The Powerpuff Girls franchise, whose title characters are made of "sugar, spice, and everything nice" and wear clothes with each of those colors.
- "Back to the Swamp" marks the first time in the Owl House canon that King is seen without his skull. While Dana Terrace has shown art of what he looks like without it, this is the first time that it is actually seen onscreen.
