Buela is the loving, experienced, and very logical grandma of Tater and Nellie. She is caring but tense, usually ready to help in any instance. She cares truly about her family, especially her grandchildren. She is usually for the old ways, she sticks to what she knows and teaches Tater new things. She also loves her husband Pop, rooting for him trying new things and having new interests.

Buela is an elderly, obese Hispanic woman with grey hair and thick, black eyebrows. She sports a blue floral dress, sandals, and glasses.

- Her voice actress, Angélica María, also voiced Elena Rivera in the Spanish dub of Coco. Coincidentally, both characters are grandmothers of the protagonists.
- Buela's birthday is inconsistent. "Summer of Cuadros" establishes that she was born during the summer, yet in "Summer of The Baby Races", her driver's license lists her birthday as October 26.
