Kiff is a Disney Channel and Disney XD American-South African animated series, created by Lucy Heavens, produced by Nic Smal, and co-produced by Kent Osborne, who serves as a story editor. It premiered with two episodes on March 10, 2023 simultaneously on both Disney Channel and Disney XD.[1] and is available to stream on Disney+ as of March 11, 2023.
Synopsis[]
The series follows Kiff, an optimistic squirrel whose best intentions often lead to complete chaos, and her best friend, Barry, a sweet and mellow bunny. Set in an urbanized mountainous island known as Table Town, the series features the duo, who take the island by storm with their endless adventures and zest for life with lessons about the importance of acceptance, friendship, selflessness, self-worth, responsibility, sincerity, notoriety, and maturity along the way. Each half-hour episode, comprised of two 11-minute stories, will include a new original song.

Production[]
In 2017, creators Nic Smal and Lucy Heavens first met each-other when they were animators for an animation studio in Cape Town, South Africa, as the duo claimed that they 'spoke the same comedy language'.[2]
In December 2017, conception for the series began under the working title Donk.[3][4]
In May 2018, the series was optioned by Disney after it got rejected by Cartoon Network, Dreamworks, Netflix, and Nickelodeon.[2][4]
On June 17, 2021, it was announced that Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal were developing an animated series for Disney Channel titled, Kiff.[5]
On October 6, 2022 a trailer for the series was released online along with the cast reveal which will feature Kimiko Glenn as the voice of Kiff and H. Michael Croner as the voice of Barry.[6]
On January 24, 2023, it was announced that the series would premiere on March 10, 2023 and revealed some recurring guest stars.[1]
On February 10, 2023, a new trailer was released online along with the confirmation that it will have a two episode premiere.
On June 13, 2023, the series was renewed for a second season at the Annecy Festival.[7]
On June 11, 2024, the series was renewed for a third season at the Annecy Festival ahead of it's second season premiere.

- This is the first Disney TVA animated show to premiere simultaneously on Disney Channel and Disney XD and to continue to premiere new episodes simultaneously, with future shows most likely to follow suit with this method, like Hailey's On It!, Primos, Zombies: The Re-Animated Series, Cookies & Milk, and the Phineas and Ferb revival series.
- This was the fifth animated Disney Channel Original Series to have been Co-Created (following Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb, Big City Greens, and The Ghost and Molly McGee).
- This is the first Disney TVA show that is produced entirely in New York City, Titmouse NY (which is a unionized east coast location) is the studio that made it.
