Randy Swartzmiller (Democratic Party) was a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 1. He assumed office on December 1, 2018. He left office on December 1, 2020.
Swartzmiller (Democratic Party) ran for election to the West Virginia State Senate to represent District 1. He lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Swartzmiller is a former Democratic member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 1 from 2000 to 2014. During his tenure, he served as state House speaker pro tempore. He was an assistant majority whip from 2005 to 2013.[1]
Biography
Randy Swartzmiller was born in Weirton, West Virginia. He earned a B.A. from West Liberty State College and an M.S. from Mountain State University.[2]

2014
Elections for the West Virginia House of Delegates took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 13, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 25, 2014. District 1 is represented by two delegates. Incumbents Ronnie Jones and Randy Swartzmiller were unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Pat McGeehan and Mark Zatezalo were unopposed in the Republican primary. Swartzmiller and Zatezalo defeated McGeehan and Jones in the general election.[3][4]
2012
Swartzmiller ran for re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 1. Swartzmiller and incumbent Ronnie D. Jones defeated Marilyn S. Boyd in the May 8 primary election. He was challenged by Ronnie D. Jones, Justin Bull, and Carl Thompson in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6]
2010
Swartzmiller was re-elected to District 1. He was one of three candidates running for the two open positions in District 1 on the ballot in the November 2, 2010, general election. His opponents in the general election were Democrat Ronnie D. Jones and Independent Amanda Mesler.[7][8][9]
2008
In 2008 Swartzmiller was re-elected to the West Virginia House District 1. Swartzmiller (D) finished with 8,763 votes and was followed by Patrick McGeehan (R) with 8,443 votes and Benton Manypenny (D) with 4,686 votes.[10] Swartzmiller raised $51,243 for his campaign fund.[11]
