Jason Barrett (Republican Party) is a member of the West Virginia State Senate, representing District 16. He assumed office on December 1, 2022. His current term ends on December 1, 2026.
Barrett (Republican Party) is running for re-election to the West Virginia State Senate to represent District 16. He declared candidacy for the 2026 election.[source]
Barrett previously served in the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 61 from 2012 to 2014. He was also an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for District 54, West Virginia House of Delegates in the November 2, 2010 state legislative election.
On December 11, 2020, Barrett announced that he would be switching his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. After changing his party affiliation at the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office, Barrett said, “For me to be able to be the most effective legislator I can be and really move good policy forward in West Virginia, I think that joining the Republican Party in West Virginia is a way to do that.”[1]
Biography
Jason Barrett was born in and lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Barrett graduated from Martinsburg High School. He earned a degree from Shepherd University. His career experience includes working as a small business owner in the restaurant industry.[2]
