timeasmymeasure: nicki minaj smiling wide and amused (nicki: lolicious)
I've had mad amounts of fan shouting up my fav ladies of the last year. A few bonus extraordinary picspammy mentions, just cause you can't ever have enough love :)

when saving the world is always on the to-do list )

THE SHORT VERSION: Sunshine in a golden package.

"In life you always have a choice. Sometimes it’s easier to think that you don’t."

Gwen, Gwenny Gwen Gwen. First, let me say: TENDRILS!! Second, let me add my voice to the chorus: CRIMINALLY UNDERUSED!!

Fact. Whether she's a queen or a blacksmith, Gwen is awesome. Gwen is awesome. Gwen is awesome. She doesn't compromise her principles, not for anyone or anything. She'll break you out of a prison, care for you when you're sick, (very politely) call you on your bullshit , and let you bunk in her house when the fuzz is after you. Always resourceful, practical, smart, loyal, and soooo GOOD. Fuck Yeah Gwen!

OMG YOU GUYS I'M HAVING SO MUCH FUN WITH THESE!!

THE SHORT VERSION: When I'm feeling a little down, I watch a Faith episode.

"Faith. Her name alone invokes awe. "Faith". A set of principles or beliefs upon which you're willing to devote your life. The Dark Slayer. A lethal combination of beauty, power, and death."

I remember discovering Buffy, ridiculously happy about it for a reason I couldn't identify back then (do they still call it girl power?) and thinking that it couldn't possibly get better. In walked Faith. It was love at first sight.

Coming in as what was essentially The Spare, Faith takes over and rocks the scooby boat. She's messed up and she knows it, and her character arc is all about learning to forgive others and herself, learning to be okay with being Faith and not what anyone else expects her to be. Above all, her persistence- whether it's to be bad or to be...well, not bad, is the most impressive thing about her. Her left hook's nothing to sniff at either ;)

timeasmymeasure: kerry washington with a rose held right below her lips (donna: donna)

THE SHORT VERSION: All the universe sings her song.

"Listen, I don't know what sort of kids you've been flying around with in outer space but you're not telling me to shut up."

Unfortunately, this show tends to be a love song to The Doctor for the most part but damn, his Companions are way more awesome than he is, in my opinion. Donna, is a magnificent example. She's curious, loud, assertive, colorful, and has a great capacity for love and empathy. She's a bit insecure, but she possesses a sense of inner "I'm awesome"; she just needed to get away from the people who didn't see it to understand it.

A great companion for someone with The Doctor's ego, she consistently refuses to be blind to the Doctor's faults- calling him on his bullshit in every episode. She's compassionate beyond belief- her immediate response to an insane Ood once she realizes it's in pain is asking The Doctor to heal it. The Doctor insists that Pompeii's destruction is a fixed point in time, Donna demands that they save at least one person. They save an entire family.

Donna is made of awesome and is totally my favorite (though to be honest, all companions are for various reasons).

timeasmymeasure: kerry washington with a rose held right below her lips (cara: yeah right)

THE SHORT VERSION: Do you need to walk into Mordor? Send in Cara.

You may call her Mistress Cara (unless you're the Mother Confessor).

Yes, she spends most of her time on the show in leather, kicks ass all over the place, and simply does not give a fuck. How in the world could I resist? How could you resist? More to the point, why would you even try?

Zedd: "You must never speak your mind on any subject but always defer to the opinion of your masculine betters."
Cara: "There's no such thing.
"

She loves a good fight, will call you on your bullshit, and takes to weaponry very quickly. Her inner child was systematically tortured out of her but she and Kahlan are Working On ItTM.

BTW, the canon-AU version of her? Still awesome. Still BossyTM, as Kelis would say.

Then there was that one time she died and came back to kick her murderer in the face.

Cara. Made of awesome since the beginning of all the things.

timeasmymeasure: diana from white collar smiling smugly :) (diana: oh yes)

THE SHORT VERSION: If you want something done right the first time, assign Diana.

Unabashedly good at what she does. Reliable, funny, loyal, and she will shoot you in the kneecaps if you mess around. She'll also rescue herself, thank you very much Agent Burke.

[FBI Agents burst in to a room for the rescue only to find Diana standing over a bleeding perp, gun aimed right at him]
Diana: Aww, you were worried.
Burke: Not about you. I was worried what you'd do to him.

THE SHORT VERSION: BAMC stands for Bad Ass Mother Confessor.

"As long as I am Mother Confessor, the Midlands Shall have just rule."

I have a thing for damsels in absolutely no distress. She is the rightful ruler of all the midlands, can tell when you're lying, and will not put up with you sitting in her chair. I love how morally unambiguous she is. She'll do GOOD, emphasis hers, because as Mother Confessor that's what she's there for: justice and compassion. I also adore how much she has feelings. CONSTANTLY. It's too often that emotional women are relegated to the role of 'hysterical whiner' by writers and fandom so it's ridiculously refreshing to see someone with epic feelings about her feelings portrayed and accepted as strong and badass.

"Even if I'm alone at Christmas. My child is healthy, and I'm happy. --You know, part of my happiness is the fact that I got to repair a woman's bowel and save her life today...which makes this an appropriate Christmas dinner conversation. --I'm happy, and my child is healthy, and that's enough for me today...That's enough."

THE SHORT VERSION: I want to be Miranda Bailey when I grow up.

I love that she's still growing, in a place in her life where she thought she was just about done, she's still growing, evolving, and all the while opening herself up in that way of hers to new experiences. Life keeps throwing her curve-balls but she's learning to stay awesome, stay fierce, and stay level all throughout and it's hard (but I get the feeling she wouldn't want it any other way). Practical, endlessly loving, honest, empathetic, adjective here, adjective there. She's pretty damn awesome and the best thing about Seattle Grace.
