Time As My Only Measure

It's over.
I have discovered the trick to watching Merlin episodes. Go in with zero hype, and ridiculously low expectations. Tis the only way, I swear to thee.

The moral of the story, the moral of this entire season, has felt like women with magic are not to be trusted with that kind of power. Unfortunately, given this interview, we really can't expect this sort of attitude to improve.

I'm going to go watch a few eps of Legend of the Seeker's series 2 (it's not a perfect show but they gave me Cara and Kahlan) and remind myself that there are women in TV land with agency that doesn't disappear as the episode goes along. Maybe the one where Cara and Kahlan are left with the Sword of Truth.

My Follow Friday was a bit heavy, so let's lighten things up with some fluffy TV!

Undercovers continues to be very fluffy and pretty.

Steven/Sam/Leo are adorable and should just get in bed, already. I also love that the boys acknowledge that Sam is in charge, at all times. femDom!Samantha may be my new kink.

There's very little more I can say than I'm glad it exists, a real breath of fresh air from the usual overdramatic fare (not that I mind drama, just that it's nice to know I can tune in to something easy to watch).

A lot of the complaints about this show is that there isn't enough tension or angst or drama or darkness. I get that it's fandom instinct to search out tension and ship it but it is possible to be fannish about light and fluffy shows.

I say bring on the sweetness. And now, there's a Dreamwidth comm @ undercovers.

Merlin continues to be a blind blind bat, Arthur is princely, Morgana is a badass in the best armor ever, Gwen is underused but still awesome, Gaius continues his ongoing audience mindfuck, Sir Leon is in every scene, and Cendred is on a horse.

All around good episode, I don't even know what they're trying to do with the next one.
