Archduke Poggle the Lesser covertly instigated an uprising on Geonosis that saw Geonosian drones riot. In doing so, Poggle would be able to escape the custody of the Galactic Republic and flee to the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The riot, which allowed the Geonosian Archduke to escape successfully, also sabotaged the top-secret construction project in orbit of Geonosis.

Behind the scenes

Poggle the Lesser's escape from Republic custody was first referenced in the 2015 reference book Ultimate Star Wars. The incident was later depicted within in the 2016 novel Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno. Released after Catalyst, Ultimate Star Wars's 2019 update, Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition, was updated to include Poggle's role from Catalyst, using its depiction to elaborate on his escape and dubbing the incident the "uprising on Geonosis" in the process.
