- "Sarrish? Sarrish. Wait. What was the Battle of Sarrish?"
"It was one of the Republic's most devastating losses."
"Sarrish. Yes. Yes, I remember now. So many soldiers were dying." - ―Gregor and Meebur Gascon
The Battle of Sarrish,[2] also known as the invasion of Sarrish,[3] was a grueling battle that took place on[5] the planet[7] Sarrish in the Outer Rim Territories during the second year of the Clone Wars.[3] It was one of the Galactic Republic's most devastating defeats, with many[2] clone troopers[6] perishing in the battle[2] as it turned into a rout.[8]
Clone Captain Gregor led Foxtrot Group into the battle before leading the retreat. Gregor managed to bring the surviving Republic forces back into space, but his own transport was shot down. The only survivor on the transport, Gregor was able to reach[8] the remote world of Abafar, where he crash-landed. He was reported missing, but a Republic team discovered him.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
- "Gregor mentions the Battle of Sarrish. This is an event dramatized in an Expanded Universe comic book, 'Routine Valor,' which was the Star Wars title available for Free Comic Book Day in 2006."
- ―Episode Guide for "Missing in Action"
The Battle of Sarrish was first canonically mentioned in "Missing in Action,"[2] the twelfth episode of the fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which premiered on January 5, 2013, on Cartoon Network.[9] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Battle of Sarrish first appeared in Routine Valor, a one-shot comic book written by Randy Stradley and illustrated by Doug Wheatley, published by Dark Horse Comics for Free Comic Book Day[10] on May 6, 2006.[11]
