- "I've just received a distress signal from our forces on Dantooine. Master Windu's defenses held, but at a great cost to his men. They need medical supplies immediately."
- ―Ki-Adi-Mundi
The defense of Dantooine[7] was a battle of the Clone Wars that began in the weeks following the First Battle of Geonosis[1] but was still being fought during the Second Battle of Geonosis. Jedi General Mace Windu oversaw the Galactic Republic's defense on the planet Dantooine against[3] the Separatist Droid Army.[8] Windu's forces withstood the enemy attack but required medical supplies as a result of their efforts.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The battle's passing mention in "Brain Invaders" was intended as a reference to the Star Wars Legends Star Wars: Clone Wars television series,[9] which depicted Mace Windu fighting a droid army single-handedly in the Battle of Dantooine.[10][11]

- ↑ Brotherhood is set between the beginning of the Clone Wars and the Battle of Christophsis, as the novel's plot involves Anakin Skywalker becoming a Jedi Knight, a rank he attained between those events. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates both events to 22 BBY, Brotherhood and the mentioned defense of Dantooine must be set in that year.
- ↑ Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Landing at Point Rain" to 21 BBY, and Star Wars Helmet Collection 76 (Highlights of the Saga: The End of Endurance) dates the death of Ponds, as seen in the episode "Lethal Trackdown," to the same year. Since Star Wars: The Clone Wars Chronological Episode Order on StarWars.com (backup link) places "Brain Invaders" between "Landing at Point Rain" and "Lethal Trackdown," its events, including the mention of the battle on Dantooine, must take place in the same year.
