- "At Attin. Now only remembered in children's stories, pirate shanties, and rumors believed by fools."
- ―Kh'ymm
At Attin was a forested planet with an orderly population that was isolated from the wider galaxy as part of the Republic's Great Work. Citizens worked diligently as analysts with the help of service droids of various types on the world beneath the Barrier, which blocked any view of the stars. By the New Republic Era, At Attin was known to the wider galaxy as a legendary treasure planet among the Jewels of the Old Republic.
Description[]
Orderly, peaceful, and isolated, At Attin was a hilly and forested planet with a city populated by humans, an Elephantine species, Ithorians, Rodians, and Vazooans. Citizens lived within the comfort of the city and its suburbs, which were serviced by many models of service droids operating under the Office of the Supervisor for At Attin's government[1] and its Great Work program.[2] The atmosphere was breathable to the citizens and facilitated day-and-night cycles, though a Barrier, physically composed of a network of red lights over green-blue, swirling clouds[1] alike nebulae, blocked access to outer space and the galaxy-at-large.[2]
Society and culture[]
- "Once you're assigned a career path, you'll become part of our planet At Attin's contribution to the Great Work. Keeping the Republic peaceful and strong."
- ―Undersecretary Fara
Children undertook an important exam known as the Career Assessment Test, which was used to sort them for a career pathway in At Attin's contribution to the Republic's Great Work. The official currency on the planet was credit ingots from the Old Republic.[1]
History[]
Sometimes during the Age of the Old Republic, nine planets, one of which was At Attin, were hidden from the rest of the galaxy for their protection. Millennia later, At Attin was the only remaining planet left of the so-called “Jewels of the Old Republic”, and as such, became legend to those who sought it. Children were told of it in stories, pirates and sailors sung its name in shanties, and its legend spread far in rumor. Passage through the barrier without government authorization was illegal. The planet was considered a legendary and mythical treasure planet to the wider galaxy and a fairy tale by many pirates during the era of the New Republic.[4]
Around 9 ABY,[5] a child named Wim found an old starship buried in the forest on At Attin. After he and three other children called Neel, KB, and Fern investigated the ship they accidentally activated it and became lost in space.[1] At Attin was known among pirates as a "lost planet of eternal treasure,"[4]
