The Wookiees of the planet Kashyyyk defended their homeworld from Confederacy of Independent Systems-employed raiders in 19 BBY during the Clone Wars between the CIS and Galactic Republic. The Wookiees were aided by Jedi Master Yoda, who was named Defender of the Home Tree,[1] a title he also had recieved for aiding in tense negotiations between the Trandoshans and Wookiees,[3] for his actions.[1] Yoda's strong relations with the Wookiees would become important later in the Clone Wars when the CIS outright invaded Kashyyyk, which Yoda responded to by personally leading the world's defense.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The defense of Kashyyyk was mentioned within the 2023 reference book Star Wars: Timelines.[1] Before its cancellation, Star Wars: The Clone Wars was set to feature an arc on Kashyyyk that would have seen Yoda's "good relations" with the Wookiees in action.[4]
