- "My husband fought bravely in self-defense…but was killed."
- ―Mina Bonteri, speaking of her husband
Around 22 BBY during the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic attacked the Confederacy of Independent Systems-controlled planet Aargonar. A contingent of clone troopers attacked a newly established Separatist base and killed Mina Bonteri's husband, who had served as an officer in the Confederacy military.
Prelude[]
- "A year ago next week, [my husband] was setting up a base on Aargonar when clones attacked."
- ―Mina Bonteri
During the the galaxy-wide Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems, the planet Aargonar was under the control of the Confederacy.[2] Aargonar was selected to be the site of a new base, which was established under the oversight of a Separatist officer[1] who had a vehement belief in the Confederate cause.[3] The officer also happened to be the husband of Separatist Senator Mina Bonteri, who[1] shared[3] his devotion to the Confederacy. Together, the two had a son named Lux some years before the war.[1]
The attack[]
Around 22 BBY, the first year of the war, the Republic targeted and attacked Aargonar.[2] A contingent of clone troopers attacked the yet to be completed base. Bonteri's husband defended himself and fought with merit, but he was ultimately killed[1] by the clones.[3]
Aftermath[]
The death of Bonteri's husband left her a widow and Lux without his father.[1] Much to Mina's concern, Lux grew increasingly distant after the death of his father.[4] Almost a full year since his passing, only missing the anniversary by one week, the Bonteris were visited by Republic Senator Padmé Amidala, who hoped to reach a diplomatic solution to the war and arrived with Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Padawan and commander in the Republic Military.[1]
