The Troubadours are new characters in Phoenotopia: Awakening. They are a group of traveling musical troupe trying to get to the Daea City to perform, but they just keep running into trouble.

Background

The Troubadours consist of four members initially - Forte who plays saxophone, Harmony who plays the drums, Alto who plays the concertina, and Cobette who plays the maracas.

Cobette is the newest member of the group, said to be found in a forest suffering from amnesia. Also, Forte and Harmony are in a relationship judging from how they refer each other as "honey", and Alto seems to like Cobette as well from his conversations.

Encounters

The first encounter with the group is in South Castella Bridge. Despite the hardship of a broken bridge they are currently facing, the group is still determined in traveling to the big city to perform for fame and riches.

The second encounter is in Franway - Atai. Even though they managed to cross the bridge unscathed, the same cannot be said to their musical instruments. Gail can choose to donate 60 R to the group to give them the fund in repairing them.

The third encounter is in Moonlight Ravine. They were charged more than expected for the repair, so now they cannot afford the ferry across. Despite wanting to earn their way by performing, they were told to quiet down by the locals. Gail can choose to donate another 40 R to help them out.

The fourth encounter is in the Daea City square. However, only Forte and Harmony can be seen. Turns out Cobette has departed without a word, leaving Alto devastated and heart broken. Gail is informed that he went to the Cupid's Fountain hoping to reunite with his destined one there.

If Gail has lent a helping hand to Melody in Ouroboros Hideout prior, she will be seen in the Cupid's Fountain upon donating yet another 50 R to Cupid, revealing how she has to scrape along by pillaging Cupid's donations due to unable to perform because of her stage fright. As such, Gail proposes that she should join Alto's group trying to overcome that, which Alto and Melody both promptly agree.

Rewards

When Alto and Melody return to the group, the four of them are seen performing in Daea City at long last. After discussing, everyone in the group agrees that Gail should be properly rewarded for her trouble, so they give her a Heart Ruby.

In addition, as a thanks for her continued support as the number one fan throughout their journey, Forte and Harmony decide to share a portion of what they have earned with Gail, which would be 35 R that is repeatable about once every 30 minutes.

• Alto is mentioned to be playing the accordion twice throughout the game, but his musical instrument resembles closer to a concertina instead
• Unfortunately, the ferryman who would carry people across in Moonlight Ravine for free is in the north port instead of south port, otherwise the group would not have been strained back there
• Cobette is later found in Pristine City, revealed to be a Golem avatar of the Stellanites disguised as a human girl with holographic projections and controlled by a male Stellanite named Coby
  • Coby accompanies the Troubadours to study the culture of people on Earth at first. In the ending cutscene, he is presumably the Stellanite seen playing alongside the Troubadours, which might be an indicator of him growing fond of the group
  • During his stay with the Troubadours, Coby is unaware to Alto taking a liking to his avatar and sometimes mistakes it as a sign of aggression, which might be due to Coby forgetting he is playing as a female character
