Journals are objects present in both Phoenotopia and Phoenotopia: Awakening. They are usually in the form of books, but sometimes existing as computer logs too. Reading at least one entry from all Personal Journals is required for obtaining the Badge "Snooper" in Awakening.

Personal Journals[]

Personal Journals are special Journals that count towards the Badge "Snooper". As the name implies, they are usually found in more hidden places, such as bedrooms, and their contents usually provide interesting backstories for the relevant characters.

Adar's House On the table in Adar's bedroom
Thomas's Laboratory In the right room of the bottom floor

Other Journals in Phoenotopia[]

While in the original Phoenotopia, the Journals are not part of any achievements, there exist quite a few of them in different places as well.

In Ruth's house, her diary has mention of a successfully repaired Golem, which the children in Panselo were very interested in at first and lost interest soon after.

Later when the basement in Ruth's house becomes accessible, another diary also mentions her working on restoring the teleportation technology which her brother Thomas could not succeed before. Regardless, he sent Ruth a Moonstone as support.

Other Journals in Awakening[]

Similarly, besides the listed 7 Personal Journals above, there are also various books and computer logs that give players insights about the world of Phoenotopia: Awakening.

In the Daea City library, players can read about an excerpt of the comically written "Legend of Swordia II", and another book about the fountains in Daea Region. Here, players can learn about the tradition of Cupid's Fountain, the King's Fountains in Daea City, and the Shooting Faun Fountain that would spit money when noises are heard nearby.

At the end of the Ancient Vault, there is also a series of logs depicting the beginning of humanity after the hibernation period, where people are put inside sleeping pods while waiting for the Earth's recovery after the Great War.

In E.D.E.N, various computer logs give insights on the daily lives of the researchers, including their relationships with each other and the Mother Computer. There are also some backstories regarding many of the creatures players have encountered thus far, such as Perro and Miniad.

Trivia[]

  • Adar's journal describe a place named "Ikalia" where a pristine metal vault similar to the Ancient Vault display. This is the only mention of "Ikalia" in the entire game.
  • Several logs in E.D.E.N describe Perro and Miniad were designed to be an efficient source of food for when the Earth eventually recovers, but neither of these are directly edible in-game
  • Despite its name, Ruby's Diary is not a Journal to be read, and it serves only as a Quest Item when meeting Ruby in The Last Wall
