RIN in Phoenotopia: Awakening, or rai in Phoenotopia, is the main currency in their respective games. It is commonly dropped from breaking objects and defeating enemies, and completing certain Side Quests would reward with them as well.
RIN is used mainly for purchasing Equipment, Tools, and Consumable Items. Certain services, such as a rest at an inn, also require a payment with prices varied based on Locations.
Menu Description[]
An assortment of metal coins. The most common types are bronze, silver, and gold - respectively valued at 1, 3, and 5 units each. RIN is the official currency of Castella and many other regions.
Services[]
Inn service is notably the most common one. By paying a fee very often cheaper than purchasing Consumable Items, Gail can rest on a Bed to recover her Health instantly back to full.
Other examples of services include persuading Snake to open the shortcut passage to exit Ouroboros Hideout, taking the ferry across Moonlight Ravine, and learning Concentrate in the Daea City dojo.
In Phoenotopia: Awakening, there are 3 characters who would provide services even if the player is short on RIN, and getting a help from all of them is required for the Badge "Not for Profit". They are:
- The innkeeper in Sunflower Road
- The ferryman in the north port of Moonlight Ravine
- The pianist in the Daea City underground canal
Donation[]
In Phoenotopia, Gail has the option donate her RIN to certain people and in certain places, which usually does not come with any reward unless it is tied to a Side Quest.
The places where Gail can donate to are:
- Troubadours in various Locations
- Beryl in Kingdom Bridge
- Jester in Atai Town
- Jester in Daea City
- Various fountain in Daea City
- Cupid's Fountain

- RIN is always capitalised in Phoenotopia: Awakening, while rai is never capitalised in Phoenotopia
- The fourth type RIN, which has a high value of 25, can only be found when items of higher value than 100 are put into a Recycler
- The most costly items is the Blood Ring in Phoenotopia sold in Hidden Village for 999 rai
- Its counterpart in the remake, Life Ring, is also the most costly item purchasable, but Super Shroom is technically more expensive as trading for it requires 9 Gold Dragon Scales, which is equivalent to 1350 RIN
- The least expensive service (excluding the free ones) is a night's rest in the Hidden Village inn, which only costs 1 rai
- In the remake, the cheapest item would be the Perro Egg sold for 5 RIN each in both Panselo Village and Cosette Village, tied with the Odd Shroom sold in Terrelum
- Lisa is said to owe a 5000 rai debt to the mayor in Atai City, which is impossible for Gale to pay off since her wallet can only hold 4999 rai
- Despite the doubled wallet size, Lisa's debt has gone up at least quadruple in the remake, which makes paying off her debt via normal means even more of a far-fetched idea
- A Stellanite standing by a vending machine in Pristine City comments on how RIN has been the currency used since before the Great War
- This can also be observed in room above the dragon fossil in Royal Archives, where 3 different variants for each of the 3 common RIN are displayed
