CP5, more formally known as Cipher Pol Number 5 (サイファーポールナンバーファイブ, Saifā Pōru Nanbā Faibu?) is an Intelligence Agency, working under the World Government, being one of the Cipher Pols. It was led by Spandam.[1]
Overview[]
While the specific specialty of this faction is unknown, CP5 appears to be capable of missions involving stealth, theft, navigation, and handling unique weaponry. They also seemed to be recognizable enough to have a say in matters of Justice.
However, they do not seem to have any special abilities for fighting, given that they used firearms to arrest people.[2]
History[]
Past[]
Less than fourteen years ago, Spandam managed to manipulate the Five Elders into changing their policy of preventing the discovery of the Ancient Weapons, convincing them to allow him to revive the weapons to combat the rise of pirate activity. So, the Five Elders gave Spandam the authority to search for the plans for Pluton.
Six years later, he traveled to Water 7 with other agents to obtain the Pluton blueprints from Tom, upon learning that they were in his possession, though the latter denied knowing about it. After this, the agents went to a bar, where they learned that Tom's sentence for building the Oro Jackson was going to be overturned in three days.
On the day of the trial,[3] Spandam orchestrated a plot to have Tom's Workers arrested: he ordered some of his agents to use Cutty Flam's battleships to attack the Judicial Ship. The plan worked and resulted in both Tom and two of his workers, Cutty Flam and Iceburg, being blamed for the attack and brought before the magistrate, Jorge.[2] Although at the end of the trial Tom was sentenced to death, both Cutty Flam and Iceburg managed to be pardoned. Shortly after, the agents took Tom to Enies Lobby on the Puffing Tom, while Spandam recovered from the injuries Cutty Flam had given him before setting off. Suddenly, Cutty Flam tried to stop them, only for the agents to run him over.[4]
Some time later, Spandam left this group to become the new head of CP9.[5]
During the Timeskip[]
Two months ago, a CP5 ship was sent to Egghead to investigate Vegapunk's illegal studies of the Void Century, though they failed to find any evidence. Before they left the island, York had the Sea Beast Weapons guarding the island destroy their ship, allowing her to imprison them in an unused laboratory. CP7 and CP8 agents were sent to the island to find the missing CP5 agents, but they too were abducted in the same manner.[6][7]
Final Saga[]
Egghead Arc[]
While still locked up and dying of hunger, the prisoner agents were joined by Vegapunk, who had also been captured.[6] Shaka later arrived at the lab, so the agents asked for his help, only for him to be killed by York.[8]
The agents were later freed by the Straw Hat Pirates and were given food. However, they were informed that they would still be confined in the laboratory along with the Seraphim, who were encased in Lilith's seastone-covered bubbles.[9] During the chaos caused by the Five Elders trying to stop Vegapunk's transmission, the Labophase was split in two by Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, causing all of the agents and Seraphim to fall into the Fabiriophase.[10] They were then inhaled by Shepherd Ju Peter,[11] who later expelled them towards the Marine ships, where the Marines secured them.[12]
