Chap[3] is the king of the Deul Kingdom (ドイル王国, Doiru Ōkoku?) in the North Blue and one of fifty monarchs who took part in the Levely.[2][3]

Appearance[]

Chap is a middle-aged man with short black hair, a short toothbrush mustache and a pointy chin sporting a goatee.

He dons military attire, including a commissar cap displaying the figure of a bird with its wings spread out, a coat hanging over his shoulders and a spotted tie. He also wears a pair of earrings and round sunglasses.

Personality[]

Not much is known about Chap's personality, aside from being known for encouraging allies into conflict with other nations.[4]

Abilities and Powers[]

Chap is the king of a nation affiliated with the World Government and one of the few allowed to attend the Levely, which grants him some authority over matters concerning the world.[2]

According to Monkey D. Garp's description of the Levely to Neptune, Chap's nation appears to be powerful enough to influence smaller ones, like Furrari's.[4]

History[]

Whole Cake Island Saga[]

Zou Arc[]

Sometime before the Levely, Chap was one of the monarchs who were seen gathering at Mary Geoise.[1]

Levely Arc[]

When Nefertari Vivi tried to stop Saint Charlos from enslaving Shirahoshi, Chap shouted at her to stop.[5] Chap later attended the beginning meeting of the Levely, seated between Tea IV and Jeep.[2]

Anime and Manga Differences[]

In the anime, Chap is replaced with a nameless king during Charlos' failed attempt to enslave Shirahoshi.[6] His role at the Levely is also expanded during Monkey D. Garp's conversation with Neptune at the Ryugu Palace, showing him silently pressuring another king into relenting to his nation's power.[7]

Trivia[]

  • Chap's design may have taken inspiration from German dictator Adolf Hitler, specifically his military uniform and mustache.
    • Chap's name could be a reference to British silent film actor Charlie Chaplin, particularly in his role as Adenoid Hynkel from the film The Great Dictator, which satirized the actions of Hitler's Nazi Germany at the time.
    • The name of his kingdom is likely a corruption of Deutsch (ドイツ, Doitsu?).
