- "It's quite something to see. For a blind man, you have very impressive reflexes, Mr. Murdock."
- ―Wilson Fisk to Matt Murdock
Blindsided is the fourth episode of the third season of the television series Daredevil.
Synopsis[]
While Matt infiltrates a prison to find information on the Albanians, Fisk puts Dex in his crosshairs, and a fed-up Foggy goes on the offensive.
Plot[]
In the middle of the night, Benjamin Poindexter wakes up Wilson Fisk in order to check the area. While Lim is checking the bedroom, Poindexter checks Fisk's person, but both agents find nothing incriminating and leave.
Foggy Nelson is highly disturbed by the fact that Fisk is out of prison and Blake Tower is refusing to act. Marci Stahl tells him not to be afraid but to confront Fisk directly, suggesting he run against Tower for DA. His intention is not to win the office, especially as the deadline has passed and he is running as a write-in candidate, but to get his message to the public.
Matt Murdock returns to his apartment and changes into a suit. Murdock takes a taxi, paying Malik Saini with Nelson's money, to Ryker's Island. Arriving at the prison, Murdock uses Nelson's pictureless Bar ID card and pretends to be him to speak with Michael Kemp, asking him about his ties with the Albanian Syndicate. Murdock asks Kemp to help him find Vic Jusufi, but Kemp punches him in the face, fearing for his safety. Prison guards escort Murdock to the infirmary for some protocol procedures.
Working at his office in the Presidential Hotel, Ray Nadeem is visited by Seema who brings him some food and new clothes. Nadeem asks her to stay, but she tells him that Sami is staying up at night, waiting for Nadeem to come home as he fears for his father's safety. She is sending him to her sister. Nadeem insists that he's not in danger, much to Seema's skepticism.
Karen Page continues to search for any information about Fisk's schemes. In the New York Bulletin Building, she is visited by Nelson who informs Page that Murdock is alive. They go to his apartment and Page angrily asks why Murdock pretended to be dead. Page then decides that they still need to stop Fisk and as they leave, Nelson notices Murdock's glasses, making it clear that he had returned to the apartment.
At the infirmary, Murdock is approached by a nurse who suddenly assaults him and injects him with a sedative. Murdock defeats him. A nearby phone rings and he picks up, finding Fisk, who is watching through the cameras, on the other end. Fisk reminds Murdock about his threat to keep Vanessa Marianna away from him which Fisk cannot forgive. Before Murdock can respond, Fisk hangs up and the door opens. Reaching the hallway, Murdock is confronted by several inmates and prison guards bribed by Fisk and defeats them. An alarm goes off and the prisoners start a riot.
As he walks through the prison, Murdock is apprehended by the Albanian inmates led by Jusufi. Murdock tells him that he put Fisk behind the bars before and can do it again. Wanting vengeance, Jusufi tells Murdock that Fisk was not attacked in prison by the Albanian Syndicate, but by Jasper Evans, who actually was bribed by Fisk in order to convince the FBI to release him. Murdock also learns that Fisk freed Evans from the prison.
Jusufi orders his subordinate, disguised as a prison guard to escort Murdock out of a prison. The Albanian is able to get Murdock out of the prison. He returns to the taxi, ordering the driver to move before losing consciousness.
After an unsuccessful prank on Fisk, Poindexter is visited by Tammy Hattley and Winn who ask him to leave the office. Nadeem quietly informs him that the OPR had started an investigation of the attack on the FBI convoy.
Nelson attends a meeting of the NYPD trade union where he meets Brett Mahoney. While initially refused when he asks for a chance to speak, Nelson takes to the stage anyway and Mahoney decides to give him a chance. Nelson talks about Fisk, a cop-killer, being free while Tower does nothing and announces his intention to take Fisk down. The NYPD officers decide to support Nelson.
Nadeem and Hattley speak outside an elevator in the hotel, and Hattler advises Nadeem not to be honest with his son. She tells him that he'd be better thinking his father was safe, even if it were a lie.
Page meets with Tanya Mills, with who she has an appointment the following morning. Mills reluctantly tells her about Felix Manning, a possible link between Fisk and his criminal schemes.
Returning to the office, Poindexter watches camera recordings from the time of Fisk's interview. Winn and Hattley had questioned him about the ambush but Fisk lied about the details, saying that Poindexter killed the attackers in self-defense. Poindexter turns off the cameras and goes to Fisk's quarters to tell him he doesn't need any favors from him. Fisk tells him it was sympathy, as the Bulletin is reporting the Ambush as an FBI mishap and Poindexter is being investigated for doing his job. Feeling unsure about Fisk's words, Poindexter leaves his quarters.
Murdock wakes up in the taxi and immediately notices that they are in the wrong place. He asks the driver to stop, but a mercenary hired by Fisk is now driving the car. He jumps out and leaves Murdock in the car speeding for the water. The car falls and sinks with Murdock still inside.
