I'm not gonna beat around the bush, I think I need a break. Since the beginning of March this year, I've been watching films almost every single day. The increase in support has been amazing in all that time, but I'm starting to believe that watching so much has affected my taste for the worst. I only noticed this today when I was watching Brazil. I was so bored by looking at a screen that I had to stop and come back to it 3 times over only to realize that before I could even finish it I had already decided that I wasn't impressed, just like every other movie from the past week or two. No new movie I watch feels special anymore and most of my ratings have been in the ranks of mediocrity. I'll stay on Letterboxd to read your reviews as always (because I also noticed that has decreased over time as well) but for the following weeks, I want to try drowning out my unwarranted paranoia that makes it feel like watching a movie has become something mandatory instead of a hobby/passion. I want to take my time again to let each movie be a unique occasion and think about it before I instantly move over to the next. I have barely even done anything for school or come outside for any other reason than taking a simple walk or going to the cinema. I've reached a boiling point right here and can't go further at this rate. I hope you can understand how I feel, and don't be afraid to show your limits if you may be going through this mindset too. Your mental health always comes first.
