So last night was one of the coolest nights of my entire life. I saw Metallica in Chicago! They sounded amazing, considering they’re all in their early 60s and late 50s. They had a great setlist too, playing songs from almost every era of the band. They also played my favorite song, One. Another band I really like, Five Finger Death Punch, went on before them, and they were great too! Lift Me Up was a great way to open the set and set the tone almost immediately. I was kind of surprised how short their setlist was, though. I was expecting them to play around an hour, so when they left 45 minutes in, I was kind of surprised. Regardless, they also kicked ass. And Ice Nine Kills was solid as well. I wasn’t familiar with them before last night, but I can say they do a decent job. It was pretty crazy to see the lead singer being out mannequins and dismember them right before Five Finger Death Punch and Metallica’s sets.
Overall, last night was a night I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Merch was crazy expensive, but I’m glad I bought some so I have something to remember the show by. And I did lose my voice as well, so I’d say it was a major success.
