Two hillbillies named Tucker and Dale and a group of college kids are on a trip to the same area. The kids are there on vacation. Tucker and Dale are there to fix up their newly acquired "vacation house," a dilapidated cabin that is in rough shape. After a series of events, the kids are led to believe that the simple minded duo of Tucker and Dale are killers though the reality couldn't be further from the truth.
I originally saw bits and pieces of this film last year at a cabin in the woods and promised myself that I would come back to watch it in it's entirety. Fuck am I glad I did.
Tucker and Dale VS. Evil is an excellent tale of two groups who misunderstand each other while the worst events that can happen do happen. It's not much different than our current state of the union in today's United States, but in this case it's funny and not sad. Never have I seen a film with so many accidental deaths, and they are all presented in gruesome yet hilarious fashion. The FX both CGI and practical are awesome delivering some excellent gore and a variety of sweet kills while the equally tremendous cast of characters ensures that you'll be laughing through it all. Although I have warmed up to it over the past few years it still takes a lot for me to enjoy the combination of comedy and my favorite genre. With that being said, this is how you do horror-comedy right. Lots of blood and bullshit and the perfect balance of both likable and easily hated characters. It doesn't get much better than this.
