I honestly don't know anyone who thinks this movie is bad. But if I did, his name would be Josh, and he'd be my podcast co-host who I totally beat in an Interstellar vs Inception debate #rekt.

Thankfully, there are more Mason's in the world than Josh's, because Interstellar is a masterpiece in science fiction if there ever was one. The plotting is immaculate, the acting (sans Hathaway) is on point and yet again, Nolan's skill explodes off of the…

By not talking about how this is one of the best movies of the 1990's, are we just accepting that as fact? I hope so.

I'm in the TS-mothafuckin-A. We handle shit.

Jordan Peele. Damn. This movie certifies that in their relationship, Key is the right brain and Peele is the left brain.

Get Out isn't the best horror movie I've seen in the last 5 years, but it just might be the most clever. Peele's vision is clear and biting.

One of the things I love most about this movie is that there are sequences in this movie that caught me completely off guard.…

Upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos.

9 years later, The Dark Knight doesn't just stand alone as the best of its kind, it's a snapshot of post-9/11 paranoia and a state of fear that has engulfed American society underneath a "dark cloud".

Batman is the greatest superhero because he is the only one who can be the focal point of a movie like this without coming off as preachy or obvious. The diversity and depth of the characters…

Coming up on 9 years since a thunderbolt hit cinema, The Dark Knight has gained, not lost relevancy.

Loss, regret, and bravery are put on the line. While most superhero movies approach these with tears and CGI explosions, The Dark Knight focuses on the aftermath. At the end of the day, what excites me as a movie fan isn't the act of throwing the rock into the pond, it's watching the ripples. That's where the real art lies.

I know this…

When I go to the cinema 60+ times a year, I’m partly doing it to join in on the overall film conversation and to follow the careers of my favorite directors or stories.

But the biggest reason I go is because I’m chasing a feeling. It’s a feeling I get when I hear a certain melody, meet a certain person or in the case of Lady Bird, see a certain movie. I don’t know how to describe the feeling other than…

Seeing one of my all time favorite movies on the big screen in my favorite city in the world is the best birthday gift I could ask for.

Edgar Wright's kinetic robbery caper captures an energy that only the Fast franchise has access to, without sacrificing its ability to be taken seriously.

Unfortunately, Ansel Elgort has to carry the load, a task he's a little inconsistent in pulling off. Hollywood doesn't have too many 20-something leading men to go to, so this is probably as good as you're gonna get.

And while the music is a treat to listen to, the marriage of sight and sound isn't rocky,…

Haven't seen this since it came out in theaters 2 years ago. Still fucking great.

Pixar continues to raise the bar higher and higher (dinosaurs non-withstanding) and like the greatest artists, businesspeople or athletes, they make it look easy.

I haven't watched these since my pre-letterboxd days (AKA: The Dark Ages), so on this rainy and cold Sunday, I think these movies are due for a revisiting.

I'm not sure any trilogy (or first movie in a series) gets off on a better foot than The Fellowship of the Ring. This movie breezes by, is a self contained story and even though it's a cliffhanger ending, it doesn't feel like one? Impressive.

When I saw this for the first time back in November, I wasn't in the mood to appreciate how great this is. I was so emotionally drained from the election and my cat getting sick (he's better now!!!) that I had a tough time engaging with it.

It communicated to me, but I was basically comatose and couldn't respond.

Now, with the benefit of time, I can say that Arrival is one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time.
