Summary[]

Subsequent to finding only a Beginner's Bane after following Wolbach's scent, Host then turns towards Megumin as she tries to slip away with Yunyun, wondering why the scent of Wolbach is coming out from her cloak, which Chomusuke had been cuddling upon. Figuring out that Host too is after Chomusuke, Megumin asks Host why he keeps calling her cat Wolbach, so with her reminding him of Komekko, Host explains how he doesn't want to fight the Crimson Magic Clan, and promises not to harm them or the city if they hand him Wolbach. Later while the girls cart the unconscious Lex and his party back, Megumin again sees the construction worker wearing a jersey as he works on the city walls alongside the blue-haired construction worker.

Leaving Lex's party at the local Eris Church, Megumin and Yunyun return to the Adventurer Guild and report the incident. When the girls later discuss what to do, Megumin, who in fear of harming innocents is against fleeing, comments on how they are really on their own this time, since other cities cannot send aid while they couldn't find the Archpriest. Yunyun next voices her objections against handing Chomusuke over to the Demon, though Megumin explains that as part of the Crimson Magic Clan, she has no intention of giving in to intimidations, especially when she is the only one capable of defeating Host since the hero with the cursed sword and Lex's party had failed. As Yunyun attempts to walk away and leave Megumin to her devices, she is stopped and enticed into helping her after Megumin says that they are friends.

Soon afterwards, Megumin enters the inn they are staying at while telling Yunyun to wait outside, before cutely asking Cecily for money to fund their battle against the Demon. Cecily promptly hands over a bag of 10 million eris to Megumin whom she hugs in confidence, though it turns out that she had actually filled the bag with stones as a prank. Megumin later walks out with a bag really containing the money before vaguely replying to Yunyun's inquires regarding what happened, which makes Yunyun have a misunderstanding about Megumin being defiled.

Handed the money so she can go buy anything looking useful from the magic item shop in addition to a black stuffed toy cat, Yunyun accordingly returns to Megumin, who failed to hire other adventurers into assisting them, with many products that Megumin notices were actually produced in the Crimson Magic Village, including to her delight a Scroll of Concealment. Megumin then lets Chomusuke cuddle the toy in order to make the cat's scent stick onto it, and plans to use the toy as bait while she remains concealed with the scroll, before she obliterates the Demon in a surprise attack once it shows up. As Megumin goes to bed early, Yunyun sneaks out during the night to somewhere.

Later curled up on her bed in her inn room, Megumin as she reminisces upon how she went from a peaceful school life a year ago to battling high-ranking Demons, realises how she can't fall asleep. She then feigns sleep upon hearing the door Unlocked, before hearing the entering Yunyun, who believes that she is asleep, express how amazing she finds Megumin to be when faced with such a foe. Yunyun continues on about how stupid she thought Megumin was for learning Explosion Magic and coming up with stupid conversion methods in Arcanletia, as well as how she proved her incredibleness by defeating the Dark God's minions and Arnes. Yet since the flow of magic caused when Megumin prepares to cast Explosion will give away her position even when using the Scroll of Concealment, Yunyun while taking the toy cat reveals that she had in her first ever invitation asked Lex's party at the Guild to join her on a revenge match against the Demon, and accordingly casts Sleep on her best friend to prevent her from going ahead with the hopeless battle plan.

It so happened that on the sixth day since Megumin and Yunyun registered as adventurers, subsequent to them being kicked out of the Guild for fighting, Megumin grilled Yunyun for the reason she got mad. A servant of the House Dustiness then interrupted them to present a quest with a nice reward that entails searching for their runaway heiress, who like the typical noble sports blond hair and blue eyes. Yunyun accordingly remembered seeing a tough woman with the same features and wearing armour taking a silver-haired Thief to fight the Demon in the forest, though Megumin said heiresses should look petite. At the end of the day, the two of them were unable to find that heiress, so Megumin settled for teaming up with Yunyun the following day, to the delight of her rival.
