My Explosion On This Powerful Enemy! (この難敵に我が爆焔を！, Kono Nanteki ni Ekusupurōjon wo!) is the twentieth and final chapter of the KonoSuba Bakuen manga series, and covers:
- Chapter 4 to the Epilogue in Volume 3 of the light novels
- The Epilogue in Volume 1 of the light novels
Summary[]
Waking up late in the following morning, Megumin quickly dresses up and heads out of her room, where she runs into Cecily. After Megumin hands the Priest Chomusuke for safekeeping, Cecily gives a Blessing to Megumin, who gratefully sets off.
In the midst of a desperate battle with Host at the hills outside Axel, Yunyun and Lex's party manage to hold their own. As Megumin who arrives concealed with the scroll looks on in surprise, a Host irritated by the repeated Lightning used on him unleashes Inferno, which Yunyun expends a Scroll of Magic Canceller to counter. The vexed Host then goes for a frontal assault, which sees him successfully defeating Derry and Sophie.
Lex proceeds to buy some time for Yunyun to drink a potion, and following his defeat she uses Paralyse on Host, which to the Demon's surprise works on him. Yet when Lex's party encourages her to finish the Demon off, Yunyun admits to Host's amusement that she too is paralysed, as a result of the potion bought from the beautiful shopkeeper indiscriminately Paralysing everyone within a wide radius. But just as Yunyun bemoans the several precious minutes of Paralysis being wasted, Megumin reveals herself while citing how she was put to Sleep. Yunyun who realises that Megumin was awake last night then hears mocking reiterations of all the embarrassing things she had said, plunging her into extreme embarrassment.
Megumin accordingly prepares the Explosion Magic that shocks Host and Lex's party before making her introduction, causing a resigned Host to comment on his misfortune of not being at full strength which may allow him to survive. He goes on to mull over how during the previous day, he was wounded when attacked by an especially tough Crusader and a Thief in shorts, thus he took it out by attacking the city, only to have a strange woman repairing the walls blast him with a nasty Sacred Highness Exorcism. Accepting his fate of losing a life as the Explosion hits him, Host wonders if the next time he will end up being summoned to be Komekko's familiar.
In town the day following the battle, from which the immobile adventures got carried back by the Guild, a Cecily overjoyed with Megumin being alive cuddles her at the carriage terminal. As they talk about Megumin earlier that day letting Lex's party who are headed to the Royal Capital keep the quest rewards, Megumin contemplates over herself and Chomusuke causing the whole string of incidents. Cecily goes on to boast how two days ago, she had for the purpose of snubbing the Eris Order Healed Lex's party enough for them to fight again, before she leaves by caravan onto her journey.
Following Cecily's departure, Yunyun takes Megumin outside the city walls, where in the distance a Giant Toad hops after a fleeing figure while another watches from the side. There she declares to Megumin whom she calls her rival that she is also going on an adventure to learn Advanced Magic for defeating her, though Megumin finds it more like escaping from the embarrassment of calling her a friend. Yunyun then admits how she will never become stronger than Megumin if she remains by her side, so Megumin agrees to have a fair contest with Yunyun when she returns.
After Yunyun left, Megumin recalls how after her graduation she had visited Soketto, who on top of keeping the truth of the Evil Spirit's release secret, decided to divine Megumin's future. She saw that Megumin will find wonderful new party members who not only will achieve great feats, but also bring disaster to the village, though she remained silent on the specifics of her future party. Megumin though dismisses the worries over the competency of those party members, who she is confident with handling, and instead focuses on letting the woman who wields Explosion Magic witness hers, as well as showing all sorts of monsters and foes how she brings the strongest explosion on powerful enemies.
It so happens that a week since leaving Axel, Yunyun who still hasn't found any party members because she can level up all by herself longs for companionship as she rides on a carriage. A voluptuous woman sharing the carriage and noticing her to be of the Crimson Magic Clan then strikes a conversation, at which Yunyun tells her all that she and Megumin went through. After the woman mourns her faithful servants' demises, she invites Yunyun to accompany her on a healing trip to Arcanletia where there are also powerful monsters for levelling up. Yunyun though declines because of the incident with the Gelatinous Slime attributed to the Demon King's Army, making the woman muse how the actual sabotage scheme won't be enacted any time soon. The woman then switches to another caravan heading to Arcanletia, and Yunyun subsequent to bidding her farewell realises that she had forgotten to ask for the woman's name.
