"Student of the Weak" is the first segment of the twenty-eighth episode of the Disney Channel animated series Hailey's On It!
Synopsis[]
Hailey pulls out all the stops to be named Student of the Week.
Plot[]
After failing to build a serviceable weight rack for Beta, Hailey insists that they complete another list item. Beta reveals that the next available list item is to become student of the week. This becomes a hot button issue for Hailey as despite believing herself to be exceptionally perfect, she has never won the student of the week award. By comparison, Scott has managed to win the award fourteen times, and later gets it a fifteenth time as well. Hailey is convinced that Vice Principal Bacon hates her, but in reality is shown to be a very kind and likeable person, giving everyone support and being very friendly.
Hailey tries to follow the listed traits, though she does not understand what "Turned" means, before deciding that she needs to be like Scott. Hailey perfectly dresses like him and has a friendly interaction with Bacon, but she loses the award to Kristine. After seeing that she gave muffins to the staff, Hailey gets Hoobastank tickets for Bacon and his brother by flying him in from Canada. Hailey once again fails to get the award, instead Lucy gets it. She tries to gain empathy from Bacon by faking slipping on a banana peel, but ends up falling down the stairs, severely injuring herself. To Hailey's shock, she loses to Becker, despite her being suspended.
Hailey finally snaps at Bacon in front of the assembly, calling him out and accusing him of disliking her despite her following all of the student of the week traits. Bacon then reveals that there is a backside to the flyer. The "Turned" trait continues into "...in all your library books". Hailey has a long overdue book, The Very Thirsty Centipede. The entire student body turns on her as she finally returns the book. The next week, Hailey gets the award, but the students are still mad at her. Bacon defends Hailey saying that another trait they need to keep in mind is forgiveness. Everyone applauds Bacon's speech, though they're still mad at Hailey.
