"Hercules and the Romans" is an episode of Hercules: The Animated Series. It aired on February 15, 1999.
Summary[]
Icarus goes to the Library of Alexandria for a project, but gets dropped in the underdeveloped land of Rome on his way back to Greece, where the Romans (who have sent messages all over for gods) worship him as a god. As their new leader and god, Icarus develops into a prosperous civilization.
Meanwhile, Hercules, worried about his missing friend, takes Nemesis for help to track down Icarus. They eventually find Icarus in the Eternal City, and there Nemesis attempts to smite him for claiming to be a god.
However, they are interrupted by three Egyptian gods who wish actually to take the spot while rampaging Rome so that they can make it like Egypt with all the pyramids. Both Hercules and Nemesis battle them to protect Rome, and eventually defeat them.
In the aftermath, Icarus gives to the Greek gods Roman names, while Hades in the Underworld is angry for being named Pluto, claiming he wouldn't even name his dog Pluto (a reference to Mickey's dog, Pluto).
Trivia[]
- Nemesis says: "Hasta la vista, false god."; a reference to the famous line ("Hasta la vista, baby") from Terminator 2.
- Nemesis was voiced by Linda Hamilton, who played Sarah Connor in the first two Terminator movies.
