William Hitz (1872-1935) was an Associate Justice on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

District of Columbia Circuit

Hitz nominated by President Herbert Hoover on January 5, 1931 to a new seat created by 46 Stat. 785. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 28, 1931, and received commission on February 6, 1931. He served until his death on July 3, 1935.[1]

District of Columbia

Hitz received a recess appointment from President Woodrow Wilson on November 15, 1916 to replace Thomas H. Anderson. He was nominated one month later, on December 15, 1916. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 2, 1917, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until February 13, 1931, when he was appointed to the District of Columbia Circuit Court.[1]
